“Firefly” and “Suburbatory” star Alan Tudyk has left Steve Martin’s upcoming Broadway comedy “Meteor Shower” just weeks before it’s scheduled to begin performances due to the time-honored “creative differences.” Jeremy Shamos, a Tony nominee for “Clybourne Park” who most recently appeared in “The Big Sick,” will replace him in the role, producers Joey Parnes, Sue Wagner, and John Johnson announced on Monday. Shamos will now play the husband of Amy Schumer’s character in the show, which follows two couples in the middle of marital freefall at a dinner party in Ojai, California. There are a lot of horror films which are marketed toward the teenage audience and this is where Don’t Hang Up fits in. Unfortunately, this is also where it is likely to get lost. Writer Joe Johnson creates an interesting concept, with some clever twists in the story, but there is nothing in the film which really makes it stand out. Horror fans have seen this done countless times before, with the film taking notes from others such as Saw, they will be able to foresee most of the events before they unfold.
Directors Damien Macé and Alexis Wajsbrot do however show some promise with their feature debut. The opening sequence where a call is received, plays on the classic theme of ‘There’s an intruder in the house’. It may not be the most original idea, but the scene works well to slowly build up a tense atmosphere.

It’s not enough to love films, we now must enumerate that love or hate relative to any similar films.
It has become a familiar ritual — the latest release in a franchise or a noted director’s canon spawns more than one site to run a “The Films of ___________, Ranked” article. We’ve done this dance with the Marvel movies since At Least 2012 when The Avengers came out, and no doubt someone is at this very moment preparing a ranking of the 14 previous films in the McU to accompany the release of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2. Wonder Woman will likely spur on a ranking of all the DC Films, and we saw just in the past week where everyone stood on the existing Fast & Furious movies.
And yes, I got into the act with my own “The Films of Assistant Director Frank Capra III, Ranked.” Hopefully the point was made.

It would appear that Kylie Jenner is taking the motto ‘go big or go home’ quite literally.
When the Keeping up with the Kardashians star was in Miami last weekend to support boyfriend Tyga (and party with sister Kendall), she bunked up in a breathtaking, 6,700-square-foot, six-bedroom home on the city’s posh Hibiscus Island.
The waterfront mansion is currently on the market for a cool $20 million, and features magnificent sunset views, a built-in bar, a movie theatre with leather recliners, a gym and an outdoor kitchen.

Our series on remakes continues and this time we’ve got one that you may not even realize was filmed in live-action before. In honor of the release of Captain America: Civil War on Friday, we’re talking about the star spangled man with the plan. This week, Cinelinx looks at Captain America: The First Avenger.
It’s not too often that a remake is much, much, much better than the original but we have one of those rare instances in the case of Captain America. Years before Captain America: The First Avenger, the first movie version of the star-spangled hero of WW2 was filmed in 1990 and directed by Albert Pyun.
This movie…was awful! It has a 9% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and went directly to a video release, wisely bypassing theaters to prevent millions of people demanding their money back. Captain America is played in this mess by Matt Salinger,...

Families, disappearances, magical forces! Amblin Television is developing new show Lumen, and it sounds pretty interesting…
American cable network TNT, the same company developing DC-comics adaptation Titans, has ordered a pilot for a new project from Amblin Television.
Lumen, the show in question, is written by Mad Men alumnus Chris Black and produced by no less than five industry names, interestingly including Captain America: The First Avenger’s Joe Johnson, alongside talent from such varied backgrounds as fashion sitcom Ugly Betty and chess-based crime thriller series Endgame.
The premise sounds equally interesting, lobbing a family of four into a ‘mystical alternate world’ which previously inspired a famous author, who has recently disappeared. Danger awaits in this strange world, as a ‘war raging between rival magical forces of light and darkness’ plunges the family into a befuddling mystery.
Amblin, as you probably already know, are also working on a televisual version of Minority Report for Fox.

TNT has handed out a pilot order to the fantasy drama "Lumen" which will be produced by Steven Spielberg's Amblin Television. "Captain America: The First Avenger" helmer Joe Johnson will direct the pilot.
The story follows a famous fantasy novel series author who suddenly disappears and a family of four who are transported to the mystical alternate world that inspired her work.
Once there, however, they are plunged into the middle of a war raging between rival magical forces of light and darkness. Facing peril at every turn, the family must unravel a complicated mystery to find their way home.
Chris Black ("Mad Men," "Desperate Housewives") will pen the script and executive produce with Darryl Frank, Justin Falvey, James Frey, Todd Cohen and Joe Johnson.

Marvel’s Agent Carter has added Dollhouse and One Tree Hill actors to cast...
It’s fair to say that Agent Carter is a fairly exciting proposition for followers of Marvel Studios. Based on the hugely enjoyable One Shot of the same name, the ABC show will follow Hayley Atwell’s Agent Carter in the years while Steve Rogers was doing time as a capcicle.
Now, we’ve got some confirmation as to who will be joining Atwell in the cast. First up, we know that Chad Michael Murray of One Tree Hill fame will play Agent Jack Tompson. Secondly, Enver Gjokaj (who played Victor in Joss Whedon’s Dollhouse) has been confirmed to play Agent Daniel Sousa.
Little is known about the characters, other than they will be joining Agent Carter in the pre-s.H.I.E.L.D. spy agency known as the Strategic Scientific Reserve.

Anne Marie cowering before GodzillaHello again! Anne Marie here, beaming to your computer screens direct from San Diego Comic Con. Though I thought it wasn't possible, it seems as though the convention got bigger and more crowded. So I learned my lesson and stayed far from the exhibition hall today. Instead, I wandered the Gaslamp District, saw some panels, and did some interviews. (More on those later.) But most of all, I waited in line. In a fun way!
Here are 6 new things I that learned today.
1) Marvel TV won't tell us anything about its Netflix shows. This despite the fact that Daredevil is already filming. Either they're saving that for the Marvel panel tomorrow afternoon (which seems unlikely), or Netflix hasn't yet gotten Sdcc-friendly. Netflix has been absent from Comic Con this year, which was suddenly more conspicuous when fully five of Marvel's new shows were absent from the discussion: Luke Cage,...

Much to the chagrin of fans, the Marvel TV panel at San Diego Comic-Con didn’t include any information or announcements about the upcoming Daredevil series, but did provide some information about the new Agent Carter show. We originally assumed that it would be a spin-off of the Agent Carter One-Shot short film included on the Iron Man 3 Blu-ray, but as it turns out the show will be a prequel, and will take shape under a few Captain America directors.
The series will take place in 1946, after the events of Captain America: The First Avenger. Star Hayley Atwell is reprising her role as the titular British officer-turned S.H.I.E.L.D. founder, and introduced a short teaser that featured footage from The First Avenger and the Agent Carter short, as well as a voiceover that stated:

When you look back at it, Marvel Studios has almost always taken the unconventional route when it comes to picking the directors for their movies. When most Hollywood studios would select the proven blockbuster director, indie darling or recent Oscar nominee looking for a payday Marvel has always gone in a different, um, direction. It started with Jon Favreau on "Iron Man." The former "Swingers" star and "Elf" helmer was coming off "Zathura," a critically lauded kids flick that was a bomb at the box office. Kenneth Branagh, on the other hand, had been in director's jail following four misfires in 10 years. "Thor" turned out to be his best film since 1996's "Hamlet." Joss Whedon was a geek icon for his legendary TV show "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and had major comic book cred after dabbling in writing Astonishing X-Men," but studios weren't banging down his door after "Serenity" fizzled in theaters.

★★★★☆ Following on from Joe Johnson's tedious and toothless Captain American: The First Avenger (2011), as well as its title character being outclassed, outgunned and overshadowed by the Avengers Assemble (2012) ensemble, only a true believer would have held out much hope that Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014) was going to be one of Marvel Studios' best offerings to date. Steve Rogers, aka Captain America (Chris Evans), is now found adjusting to life after being on ice for half a century whilst running missions for Nick Fury's (Samuel L. Jackson) S.H.I.E.L.D., alongside his leather-clad Avengers comrade Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson).

I did enjoy Captain America: The First Avenger, I just felt it was seriously lacking in many areas, and by the final act it had pretty much descended into throwaway G.I. Joe-ish silliness. So when this sequel was announced I wasn't really expecting that much, even after a few promising early trailers. So consider me Very pleasantry surprised. Writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely have loosely adapted Ed Brubaker's comic run to craft an exciting, dramatic, and surprisingly thoughtful sequel to Joe Johnson's original -- and as it turns out, new directors Anthony and Joe Russo were the perfect choices to take over. Ironically given the duo's tv background (Arrested Development, Community) this is probably Marvel's most serious film yet. Not that there aren't some funny moments and great banter between the characters, but it's balanced very well and -- unlike Marvel's previous Phase 2 efforts -- the...

We still have a few months before the Russo Brothers–directed Captain America: Winter Soldier premieres, yet Variety reports the duo will be returning for the third Captain America movie (Captain America: Spring Soldier?). The Russos, who took over the franchise from Joe Johnson, are maybe best known for producing and directing episodes of Community and Happy Endings, so an opportunity like this is no small deal. Their previous movie, 2006's You, Me, and Dupree, featured not a single super-shield.

Want to know what November 5 was made famous for? We’re here for ya.
1. Guy Fawkes joined a group of English Catholics and attempted to plant gunpowder in the cellar of the Palace of Westminister in 1605, planning to blow up the House of Lords during the State Opening of England’s Parliament. Tiff’s Midnight Madness program turned 25 this year, and for two and half decades, the hardworking programers have gathered some of the strangest, most terrifying, wild, intriguing and downright entertaining films from around the world. From dark comedies to Japanese gore-fests and indie horror gems, the Midnight Madness program hasn’t lost its edge as one the leading showcases of genre cinema. In its 25-year history, Midnight Madness has introduced adventurous late-night moviegoers to such cult faves as Richard Linklater’s Dazed and Confused and Quentin Tarantino’s Reservoir Dogs. But what separates Midnight Madness from, say, Montreal’s three and half week long genre festival Fantasia, is that Tiff selects only ten films to make the cut. In other words, these programmers don’t mess around. Last week I decided that I would post reviews of my personal favourite films that screened in past years. And just like the Tiff programmers,...

Chicago – When Jon Lucas and Scott Moore (the writers of “The Hangover” and its sequel) decided to go back in time to college with the same drunk movie formula, their resulting “21 and Over” neglected two major ingredients: being consistently funny and making bold new choices.
Rating: 2.0/5.0
Since you’re willingly entering a movie like this to shut down your brain and feast your eyes on human stupidity, that’ll pay off for you in the first 30 minutes. With the remaining short 63 minutes, though, you’ll see that “21 and Over” already blew its load and front-loaded most of its funnies.
After the first third of the film, the rest drags, some of the punch lines flop and dramatic moments that attempt to diversify the film’s humor aren’t emotional. “21 and Over” would have been better served going for pure comedy the whole time – like “Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy...

With other companies making waves releasing cult horror films on Blu-ray, it's no surprise Code Red DVD is getting in on the trend by bringing Nail Gun Massacre, Just Before Dawn, and The Electric Chair to hi-def.
Code Red announced on its blog that the company's first foray into Blu-ray will be the 1974 obscurity The Electric Chair. I’m not even familiar with this one. Are you? If so, you might be excited to hear a 97-minute cut of the film will be coming to a loaded Blu-ray to be hosted by former WWE diva Maria Kanellis and TV’s “Monster Man” Cleve Hall.
Following that will be the notorious 1985 splatterfest Nail Gun Massacre, about members of a construction crew that gang-rape a young woman and then begin getting brutally killed off by a mysterious maniac wielding a nail gun. Code Red promises another loaded disc boasting both a brand...

After buying out Marvel Comics, and by way of possession, Marvel Studios, Walt Disney Pictures is in the superhero movie business big time. Their shareholders are feeling pretty good about the studio releasing the billion dollar Avengers movie, and Marvel Studios is moving ahead with its second wave of feature films. All signs point to continued success, and uncovering new ways for Disney to crosspromote Marvel's pantheon of recognizable heroes in all of the company's many different divisions.
So why would Disney want to dust off a non-Marvel superhero project like The Rocketeer and reboot it for a new generation?
Vulture broke the story about the House of Mouse wanting to make a second Rocketeer film. The first one was directed by Joe Johnson, the same guy that directed Marvel's Captain America: The First Avenger. However, while the Cap movie was a financial success, Johnson's 1991 Rocketeer movie failed to fly at the box office.

Here we go again. Today we take a look at the next five players on our list of the top 30 players in the NBA today. With superstars like LeBron James and Kevin Durant out of the way, we can really delve into the realm of opinion and I would be genuinely surprised if you completely agreed with me on all these choices as even I second-guessed myself while making these selections.
Without further ado, here you go:
11. Deron Williams - Brooklyn Nets
He was once considered one of the top point guards in the league, if not the best. Williams had possessed an all-round skillset that no other point guard in the league had at the time. Without a doubt, Williams was the closest thing to the great John Stockton.
