Celebrities like Justin Timberlake and Peter Jackson have avoided the mad crush by going incognito at the San Diego Comic-Con fan event In 2011, Esquire magazine writer Chris Jones accompanied Justin Timberlake at Comic-Con dressed as beloved “Sesame Street” duo Bert and Ernie. While attending 2011’s Comic-Con to promote “The Amazing Spider-Man,” Andrew Garfield pulled a double-fake by dressing as… Spider-Man Former “Doctor Who” star Matt Smith put on a Bart Simpson mask to walk the floor at the 2013 event. Bryan Cranston surprised his co-stars at a “Breaking Bad” panel in 2013 with a creepily realistic Walter White mask. Former Harry Potter star.

This series has been a rare case of when, occasionally, style over substance is not a problem. Although the storyline has been perfectly fine, what has made this book work so well is the affection for the characters and the era. Get that right, and you can tack on pretty much any adventure you want and it would work perfectly fine. Luckily, in Paul Cornell, you have a man that can happily combine the two. I almost feel like sitting and reading this book in my pajamas on the sofa, it has such an authentic 1970′s early Saturday evening BBC feel.
What has gone before proves the above. The main storyline, of an alien invasion by metal based life forms, is perfectly fine, but it is the fun of having companion Jo Grant, The Brigadier and The Master running round with Unit,...

The first two issues of this series have had me dribbling with excitement and nostalgia. Yes, not the most edifying sight you’ll ever imagine, but true. Paul Cornell has somehow managed to bottle the feel and look of not only the Jon Pertwee Third Doctor himself, but of the era, of the tone of the type of adventures The Doctor was experiencing back in those heady days. Being honest, the actual substance of the last two issues has been less important than capturing that authenticity, putting the reader back in that time and space.
For those that came in late, all you need to know is that The Doctor has been trying to help Unit fight off an alien invasion, an invasion of metal based life forms that can make themselves into various bigger objects and weapons.

Second issues. I wonder if writers sit in front of that computer screen wondering just how they can maintain the quality of that first issue, or even up the ante. Or do they just laugh at us mere mortals and have it all planned out, knocking out those first few issues with ease. Maybe a bit of both. What I do know is Paul Cornell (and artist Christopher Jones) delivered a near perfect first issue. Perfect in tone, in characterisation, and in time and place. My one very slight grumble was that it felt a bit light in actual content, but most like me were probably so swept up in the nostalgia they didn’t really analyse it too much. Well, we’ve had the introductions and set up now, so I was looking for Cornell to really push things forward.

For most people, Tom Baker Is The Doctor, and he was certainly a big part of my TV viewing childhood. For me though, my favourite Doctor was always the Jon Pertwee Third Doctor. He just looked like a really cool granddad to me, with fab gadgets and a nice line in faux karate. Titan obviously needed to test the waters before granting the Third Doctor his own ongoing series, and I’m pleased to see the demand was there. You also don’t get a much safer pair of hands to get the book off the ground than Paul Cornell, not only a top writer for mainstream TV and Marvel and DC Comics, but also a writer of Who novels, audio books and comics. This week, I was totally stumped on a topic for this column. I turned to my fellow columnist, Joe Corallo, for help and he immediately mentioned the exact thing I’ve been chatting about for the past week. Not really sure why I blanked on it because it is such a big topic right now. So let’s talk about Young Justice.
Young Justice, in case you don’t know, follows a group of young DC heroes as they learn to work as a team and find their place amongst the Justice League. As the series grows through seasons 1 and 2, we watch the young heroes change into the heroes we always wanted them to be. Sadly, it ended on a cliffhanger. It is not based on the comic of the same name but does build off the DC universe.

Adela Quested (Judy Davis) finishes A Passage to India in the same manner she started the movie: her face is deformed by a window full of drops of rain. In both cases, she is looking at something more or less out of frame, blurred or uncertain, imaginary or physical. The placement of the camera, in the beginning and in the end, is at a different location. When the film starts, we are inside of a traveling agency and Adela is walking past the panoramic window. She stops for a second and stares at a large-sized model of a ship. We can’t see the ship entirely: just some chimneys, masts and ropes. We only know this is a ship because the previous shot—the first shot of the picture, actually—showed us this model. In the end of the movie, Adela is reading a letter concerning events that we have seen.

And now for a video of one of the most incredible real-life rescues we've ever seen. 22-year-old Christopher Jones was in stage five of his Accelerated Free Fall program at the Western Australia Skydiving Academy when he had a his near death experience, which he called "possibly the scariest moment of my life." Jones jumped out of the plane at 12,000 feet, with his instructor Robin O'Neill jumping soon after. For a few moments, Jones is seen enjoying his free fall, but suddenly the jump turns disastrous. "At around 9,000 feet I have a seizure while attempting a left hand turn," he writes in the YouTube description. "I then spend the next 30 seconds in free fall...

As anyone who has had a seizure will tell you, there's never a right time. However, "9,000 feet above the earth, mid-skydive, just before you pull your ripcord" stands as an especially bad time to suffer a seizure. This video shows 22-year-old skydiver Christopher Jones high above Pinjarra, Australia, having an epileptic seizure - his first in four years and long after his doctor had declared him safe to jump. Jones's instructor was able to pull the parachute ripcord in spite of the emergency, and Jones regained consciousness around 3,000 feet, ultimately landing safely. In the YouTube description for the video, Jones...

There are few filmmakers who engage directly with their fans and audience quite like Edgar Wright. Active both on Twitter and through his own blog, Wright is an open book when it comes to interacting with his follower. The filmmaker is usually eager to share the process as he develops whatever projects he's working on and prone to extensive conversations that go well in-depth. The latest is a one-hour masterclass featuring Wright that has made its way online. Chris Jones hosts the discussion recorded at the London Screenwriters Festival last year, and the talk ranges from Wright's observations about his first feature "A Fistful Of Fingers"; making "Shaun Of The Dead" as both the "Dawn Of The Dead" remake (released within two weeks of his zombie comedy in the U.K.) and "28 Days Later..." were brewing; his writing process and more. For fans or anyone interested in the business, it's worth making the time for.

The latest round of solicitations from DC Comics appears to confirm that “Young Justice” will be ending its run early next year with the release of issue #25 with both Brainiac and Deadshot appearing in the final installment.
The announcement comes at an ominous time for the Young Justice superhero team, with the popular animated series on Cartoon Network currently on hiatus for reasons unknown. To add insult to injury for fans, Greg Weisman, the writer for the “Young Justice” comic book since issue #7, is also a writer and producer on the tv show. Cartoon Network has yet to release an official statement on whether or not the show’s been cancelled or if they will still continue to produce episodes.
That’s never a good sign.

What do Adam Sandler, a Price is Right controversy, and cartoon versions of Amelia Earhart and Abraham Lincoln have in common?

Meltzer’s bestselling non-fiction book Heroes for My Son has been optioned by Sandler’s Happy Madison production company, while the author also has two other surprising projects in the works — one involving a movie about a shocking moment on the iconic CBS game show, and the other turning various historical figures into cute illustrations as a way to inspire kids.

ABC's Bachelor and Bachelorette certainly have always featured colorful casts, but they haven't showcased very many people of color. And the show's racially homogeneous makeup hasn't gone unnoticed. A group of Nashville residents, led by football players Nathaniel Claybrooks and Christopher Jones, announced in a press release that they plan to file a class-action lawsuit Wednesday against the dating competition shows for racial discrimination. For a combined total of 23 seasons, neither program has featured a single person of color as the featured Bachelor or Bachelorette. Attorneys for Claybrooks and Johnson, who are both African-American, will file their complaint in federal court against ABC, three...

Jermaine's elimination was an 'outrage,' according to authorities. Do you think producers just did it to boost ratings? American Idol finalist Jermaine Jones was cruelly ejected from the competition this week for not revealing he had outstanding warrants in New Jersey, and now the police involved in his case are now speaking out -- in his favor! Police Lt. Christopher Jones tells the New York Post that Jermaine's crimes weren't serious enough to go after him for, reinforcing the idea that the whole thing was done simply for ratings. "For the producers of the billion-dollar show to expose, embarrass and interrogate a young man without an attorney in front of 40 million viewers was an outrage," adds Camden County Freeholder Jeffrey Nash. In case you need a refresher on Jermaine's legal history, he was arrested twice last year, and he gave police a false name when confronted about a motel...

(Rns) Many TV network executives, advertisers and producers would sell their souls to get the kind of audience God has. But giving religion a starring role in prime time? Not so much.
Religion, God and spirituality have made cameos across the dial from "The Sopranos" to "The Simpsons" -- though usually as a prop or walk-on role. But shows where religion is a central part of the premise are rare, and the ratings are generally far from heavenly.
Short of touchy-feely shows like "Touched By an Angel" or "Highway to Heaven," why is religion so radioactive in Hollywood?
This month, cable network TLC canceled "All-American Muslim" after only about 700,000 viewers watched the season finale of the reality show featuring Muslims in Dearborn, Mich.
Meanwhile, ABC's saucy new drama "Gcb" -- think "Desperate Housewives" in choir robes -- that's based on Kim Gatlin's novel...

Glee is casting around for a super hot 18-year-old male to play a major arc. While I'd love to think it was for another gay guy to shake up Klaine, I have a feeling this is the new Quinn love interest.

Once again, a look into the future, with some very interesting looks at the past, including the reprinting of a comic that was never released in America in the first place, the infamous Elseworlds 80 Page Giant that was pulped because of concerns about Superman’s babysitter.
And of course, a whole lot of #3 issues, which is traditionally the issue where Spider-Man guest stars.
Shall we? Surely!
As usual, spoilers may lurk beyond this point.

The Dc Comics solicits are out today, so we're beyond pleased to be able to now reveal some news we've been holding onto...our old pal Christopher Jones (artsist on the beloved Batman Strikes comic) has scored the gig as ongoing artist for the comic based on the Young Justice cartoon. This comic, much like Strikes, will have its own story arcs and maybe even some character reveals. There is more Huge news with this comic to come, but that will have to wait. In the meanwhile, please join us in congratulating our friend Chris and welcoming him into the Young Justice fan fold!

Artist Christopher Jones has created a brand new poster titled "Most Heinous" that you rabid fans of Doctor Who are going to have a hard time passing up on.
The poster adds to the Doctor Who universe the totally excellent time traveling duo of Bill S. Preston, Esq. and Ted Logan -- better known as Bill & Ted from the fine cinematic achievements, Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure and Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey. The best friends and founders of greatest band in the history of the universe, Wyld Stallyns, jump into their handy phone booth, but to their shock, open the door only to find an army of evil Dalek's staring back at them.
Where's the Doctor when you need some assistance?!

Check this "most awesome" piece of artwork by Christopher Jones featuring Bill and Ted surrounded by the Daleks from Dr. Who. You can buy the 11x17 reproduction prints on Etsy. An 11 x 17 inch reproduction print from my original illustration of Bill and Ted (from Excellent Adventure and Bogus Journey fame) having landed in their time-travelling phone booth to find themselves surrounded by Daleks (from Doctor Who).
The original illustration was hand-drawn with color added digitally in Adobe Photoshop.
It is printed on 11 x 17 Matte Heavyweight paper in full color. The print will bear an original signature in silver in the lower right hand corner unless requested otherwise.

While Jim Carrey's long-delayed I Love You Phillip Morris was pushed again from an April release date to late July, the actor has maintained his public profile via Twitter. Posting as many as 25 tweets in a day, Carrey is as manic ("I'm wearing my ninja turtle underwear right now...") and reflective ("In a world where 'sane' often means 'inauthentic', I'd prefer to be called madman!") as you'd hope or expect. The uncertainty behind Phillip Morris has provided an opportunity for Carrey to ponder his current place in the universe, but the actor isn't the only person to address it.

And these five people knew it: Chris Jones, Ray Salem, John Allison, Jessica Webster and Kate Wright.

Eoghan Quigg has insisted that all the stories about a romance between he and Diana Vickers on The X Factor were untrue. The 16-year-old claimed that he found the tabloid press interest in his private life "frustrating" and was always just "really good friends" with Vickers. The pair were continually photographed together during their time on the show, despite Vickers being in a relationship with student Chris Jones. "We were just really good friends and it was ruined by all these stories of love affairs, which just weren't true at all," (more)...
