Alfred Junge has the distinction of being the only Production Designer to
have one of his pictures hung in the Royal Academy. This was a sketch
of "The Road to Estaminet do Pont" from The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp (1943). (Reported in 1946,
others may have achieved this honour since).
Deborah Kerr , the star of Black Narcissus (1947) , for which Junge won his only Oscar, gave him an autographed photo, personally inscribed, "To Alfred Junge, of all art directors the most brilliant".
