The final season of Cobra Kai will be less bingeable than usual. That’s because Netflix is splitting the supersized season six across three release dates.
On Thursday, the streamer released a teaser trailer (below), along with its release strategy for the popular family drama series.
The 15-episode final season will drop Part 1 on July 18, then hold Part 2 until Nov. 28. A third part, dubbed “The Finale Event,” won’t be released until sometime in 2025.
The official description: “Picking up with Cobra Kai eliminated from the Valley, our senseis and students must decide if and how they will compete in the Sekai Taikai — the world championships of karate.”
Creators Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg have previously called the decision to end the series “bittersweet” but one that lets them bring Cobra Kai to a close the way they want.

There are not a lot of actors in Hollywood whose presence itself on-screen exudes badassery. Liam Neeson has carved a unique niche for himself in the film industry, where directors and producers look up to him for serious roles. From Schindler’s List to Batman Begins, the actor has carefully picked feathers for his cap that are a testament to his effervescent acting abilities.
However, he often goes offbeat and picks up projects that show off a different side to his demanding presence on the silver screen, like he is about to do in his upcoming The Naked Gun Reboot.

Harrison Ford has had feuds with several big-name actors throughout the course of his career, from Alec Baldwin over the Jack Ryan role to Josh Hartnett on the set of Hollywood Homicide. And you can add Brad Pitt to that list, who Harrison Ford butted heads with while making the 1997 thriller The Devil’s Own.
While Harrison Ford does praise Brad Pitt overall, he says in a new Esquire profile that their issues stemmed from exploring their characters and developing the screenplay. “Brad developed the script. Then they offered me the part. I saved my comments about the character and the construction of the thing—I admired Brad. First of all, I admire Brad. I think he’s a wonderful actor. He’s a really decent guy. But we couldn’t agree on a director until we came to Alan Pakula, who I had worked with before [on 1990’s Presumed Innocent] but Brad had not.

When it comes to adapting a classic TV show to the big screen, it doesn’t get much better than Andrew Davis’ The Fugitive. Indeed, the third highest-grossing film of 1993 proved to be a monumental critical and commercial hit that earned more than $370 million globally and was nominated for seven Academy Awards, including Best Picture. In addition to Tommy Lee Jones winning an Oscar for his indelible supporting turn as U.S. Marshall Sam Gerard, the film still boasts some of the most impressive action set pieces and stunning practical FX on record. The movie succeeds on multiple levels as a riveting manhunt thriller, an engrossing murder mystery, a compelling redemption story, an FX-driven action-adventure, and of course, a faithful TV adaptation that both honors the spirit of the original and also pushes the narrative forward into daring, unpredictable territory. Yet, for as nearly perfect a film as The Fugitive remains to this day,...

Idris Elba has stepped behind the camera before, most notably for 2018's Yardie. He's headed back to the director's chair — this time adding producing and starring as a combo — for refugee/prison thriller Infernus.
With a story from Tom Boyle and a screenplay by Robert Mark Kamen, it'll see Elba play Donovan Kamara, a Un human rights activist sent to investigate reports of refugees being illegally detained inside a US black site prison.
A seemingly simple task turns deadly when the world’s most dangerous inmates break free. Kamara must work to safely extricate the refugees, all while going head-to-head with a brilliant criminal mastermind. It all sounds like the sort of film you normally find Gerard Butler headlining, but Elba's no stranger to action either.
And while he'll shoot a chunk of the footage in London this autumn, Elba is also using it to boost the new Td Akuna Studios in Ghana.

Léon: The Professional has a pretty strong cult following and meme-worthy presence thanks to Gary Oldman, but Natalie Portman isn’t so sure it has aged all that well in the nearly three decades since its release.

In the letter, the trio humbly expresses the thrill of contributing to the Karate Kid universe, saying they never imagined becoming a part of the timeless franchise and martial arts drama. “Reacquainting the world with The Karate Kid universe has been our humble honor. Making Cobra Kai has allowed us to join the same hallowed dojo once inhabited by the great Robert Mark Kamen, John Avildsen, Jerry Weintraub, and the amazing original cast members. Netflix has picked up a sixth season of Cobra Kai — which will also be its last.
The streamer made the announcement Friday with a video that teases what it calls “the biggest … baddest” season of the series. A premiere date hasn’t been set; the video (watch it below) only says “coming soon.”
Creators Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg call the decision to end the series “bittersweet” but one that lets them bring Cobra Kai to a close the way they want.

Imagining the climax of "The Karate Kid" without Daniel Larusso's iconic crane kick is like trying to listen to John Williams' "Duel of the Fates" without a lightsaber battle. All seems lost after our underdog hero played by Ralph Macchio has had his leg swept by the villainous Johnny Lawrence (Billy Zabka), but thanks to the balancing act of a crane kick, Larusso wins the tournament and scores his winning point with the move.
Ironically, the crane kick almost didn't happen, because it's not only a completely made-up move for the film, but it's ridiculously hard to execute. In Macchio's new memoir, "Waxing On: The Karate Kid and Me," there's an entire passage about the crane kick that almost never was. According to Macchio's book (which /Film's own Jenna Busch recently spoke with Macchio about), the crane kick was invented by screenwriter Robert Mark Kamen, a move that sounded cool...

The dojos have mojo: “Cobra Kai” Season 5, the latest installment in the popular “Karate Kid” sequel TV series on Netflix, currently has a perfect 100 critics score on Rotten Tomatoes.
All 10 episodes of the fifth season, which stars Ralph Macchio and William Zabka (reprising their roles from the original “Karate Kid” movies), were binge-released Sept. 9 on Netflix. Season 1 of “Cobra Kai” also has a 100 critics score on the site, while seasons 2 and 3 have a 90 critics score and S4 clocks in at 95. This Cobra Kai article contains spoilers for season 5.
When it comes to the original Karate Kid films, The Karate Kid Part III is unquestionably the worst installment of the trilogy. Part I launched the franchise. Part II took it to Okinawa. Part III nearly killed it. Even Daniel-san himself, Ralph Macchio, rejected the film.
“I was not a fan of how the Karate Kid III came out,” Macchio said to The Hollywood Reporter last January. “I felt the story was only repeating itself and was not character forwarding for the end of Larusso.”
Macchio went on to say it wasn’t a smooth ride for him and that there were parts of the character he didn’t embrace. “I don’t put it on the top of my résumé.”
Is Macchio (and mostly everyone else’s) estimation of Karate Kid III a fair one? And if so, is there any...

Based on the original ’80s “Karate Kid” franchise by Robert Mark Kamen, “Cobra Kai” focuses on the characters of Daniel Larusso (Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence (Zabka), 30 years after the events of the original films. "The Fifth Element" is one of those sci-fi films that defined the modern iteration of the genre. Even if you've never watched it, you've surely seen people cosplaying as Milla Jovovich's Leeloo, the opera singer Plavalaguna (Maïwenn Le Besco), Chris Tucker's Ruby Rhod, Gary Oldman's Zorg, or Bruce Willis' Korben Dallas at conventions. The 1997 Luc Besson film was like nothing we've seen before, and to this day, remains very much one of a kind.
In the story, co-written by Besson and Robert Mark Kamen ("The Karate Kid"), we follow Korben Dallas, a former Earth's Special Forces major-turned-cab driver in the 23rd century....

Cobra Kai continues to effectively mine the long-dormant characters and continuity of The Karate Kid film franchise. The strategy has yielded a successful series that basks in the built-in nostalgia of those old enough to recall the films’ heyday, and even fosters a new generation of fandom. However, the show’s fourth season taps into 1989’s The Karate Kid Part III with the heralded return of villain Terry Silver—a controversial callback, seeing as that film remains widely maligned. Interestingly, a radically different third entry was originally envisioned, one that would have taken the trilogy into time-travel territory.
If the teasers for Cobra Kai Season 4, which ominously tout Silver’s return—made 32 years later by Thomas Ian Griffith—left you in need of context regarding its importance, you were hardly alone. After all, the film, in which Silver served as main villain, was a dud, and the least-watched of the original Karate Kid Trilogy.
