Netflix released first-look images for “Sex Education” Season 4 on Wednesday, as the final episodes of the acclaimed series are set to debut on Sept. 21.
As previously announced, the high school dramedy will end after its fourth installment. The pictures hint at what’s to come for the beloved ensemble cast as they transition from Moordale Secondary — which was shut down last season — to Cavendish Sixth Form College.
Otis (Asa Butterfield) faces the challenge of re-establishing his sex therapy clinic at a school that is way more progressive than Moordale was. The show’s official logline summarizes life at Cavendish as “daily yoga in the communal garden, a strong sustainability vibe and a group of kids who are popular for being… kind?!”
Academic overachiever Viv (Chinenye) finds the college’s student-led, non-competitive approach bewildering. Jackson Marchetti (Kedar Williams-Stirling) still holds heartbreak over Cal (Dua Saleh), and Aimee (Aimee Lou Wood) takes...

Exclusive: A dozen smaller talent agencies have signed a statement of support for the WGA’s efforts “to eliminate conflicts of interest and properly align the incentives of agencies with their clients.” None of the agencies is a member of the Association of Talent Agents, which is locked in a do-or-die battle with the WGA over a new franchise agreement. This positions a lot of have-not agencies — they would not ordinarily be considered as the reps of top screenwriters or TV writers — to be alternative landing places if the WGA follows through with its threat to force members to fire their agents at the Big Four percenteries.

If you are a horror movie aficionado then no introduction is needed for Blood Feast, nor to the films of Herschel Gordon Lewis in general. But just in case you’ve never heard of this pioneering no-budget epic, here’s a quick synopsis. Blood Feast is the story of an Egyptian caterer, Fuad Ramses, who is into the dark arts and has a need for human body parts. It just so happens a series of gruesome killings of young women around town are occurring. Detective Thornton, along with the help of the beautiful and unwitting Suzette Fremont, try to solve the case before every young co-ed in town disappears. Blood Feast was a sensation when it was first released to the grindhouse/drive-in circuit in 1963. Over the years it became the stuff of legend to horror fans everywhere with Fangoria magazine praising Lewis’ films in its pages,...

1963’s Blood Feast, the infamous gorefest from director Herschell Gordon Lewis, is a pox on our culture; grossly stupid, comically inept and depressingly nihilistic. A perfect film for 2017.
Lewis’s movie was released the same year that Patsy Cline and John Kennedy died, George Wallace turned away black students from an Alabama college and Martin Luther King was jailed in Birmingham. Betty Friedan wrote The Feminine Mystique and Sam Cooke recorded ”A Change Is Gonna Come”. In an already fractured country, those seismic shifts only deepened the decades-old divide along the Mason-Dixon line.
Meanwhile, in southernly states from Mississippi to Florida, Lewis and his production partner David Friedman were busy...

The Bottom Shelf returns, with a video nasty, The Howling 2, and a tribute to the late Herschell Gordon Lewis...
To most, September 26th is the date when, in 1680, the Dutch city Gorinchem suffered a citizen’s revolt due to an imposed tax on cereal. From now on, though, that will change, as any right-thinking person will remember that date in 2016 as the day The Godfather Of Gore, the great Herschell Gordon Lewis, died.
The brain behind a range of vintage cult classics, spanning the gamut of exploitation cinema, from splatter movies to comedy erotica and supernatural witchcraft thriller (niche!), Lewis’ influential sixties and seventies productions paved the way for the video nasties of the eighties and the gory likes of David Cronenberg and Peter Jackson and stand up today as camp, gawdy historical documents of a bygone era. As such, to coincide with an impeccably timed release...

Dark Water [Blu-ray + DVD] (October 11th)
After terrifying audiences worldwide with the blockbuster J-horror classic Ring and its sequel, director Hideo Nakata returned to the genre for Dark Water, another highly atmospheric, and critically acclaimed, tale of the supernatural which took the common theme of the "dead wet girl" to new heights of suspense and drama.
Based upon on a short story by Ring author Koji Suzuki, Dark Water follows Yoshimi, a single mother struggling to win sole custody of her only child, Ikuko.

Tokyo, Jun 24: Republicans and Democrats are not only divided on the kinds of TV shows they watch, cars they drive and beers they drink but also the names that they give to their babies.
To understand whether Democrats and Republicans choose different kinds of baby names, University of Chicago researchers Eric Oliver, Thomas Wood and Alexandra Bass compiled an unusual set of data, Japan Times reported.
Oliver and his colleagues argued that liberals, consciously or unconsciously, signal cultural tastes and erudition when they pick their child's moniker.
On the other hand, conservatives are more likely than liberals to pick popular or traditional names (like John, Richard, or Katherine), signal economic capital..

Show of hands - how many of you knew that singer/songwriter Neil Sadaka once appeared in a horror film? Trembles obviously did, and that film, Playgirl Killer (aka Portrait of Fear), is the subject of this week's Mpp.
The sole IMDb credit of director Erick Santamaria (who also co-wrote the film with Harry and William Kerwin), Playgirl Killer was released in 1968 and stars William Kerwin, Jean Christopher, and Andrée Champagne in addition to the aforementioned Sadaka.
Synopsis:
A rich, lonely woman hires a drifter as a live-in handyman. The drifter turns out to be a psycho artist who has beautiful women model for him, then kills them.
Artsy-Psychoticsy!
