IFC Films’ Late Night With The Devil topped the specialty market in its second week, as a Tollywood and a Bollywood film both made the top ten in a rare occurrence. Strong horror and Indian fare have helped buoy the box office since Covid. They continue to fill in the top ten, including this week, which boasts a monstrous hit in Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire — but is a neighborhood with fewer overall wide release due to Hollywood strikes.
Scary first: Late Night With The Devil by Australian duo Colin and Cameron Cairnes stars David Dastmalchian, perfection as a late 1970s talk show host whose quest for ratings on a Halloween night broadcast goes nowhere good, unleashing evil into the nation’s living rooms. It grossed $2.2 million on 1,442 screens in week two, for a cume of $6.2 million. The film is in the top ten again, at no. 7.

Mumbai, March 29 (Ians) Hindi cinema has not written very many lead female characters who have careers, although to be fair to scriptwriters, many of the roles for women have been full of substance. And depth.
It is thoroughly interesting therefore to walk into a movie that is about the story of not one but three diligent friends who are working as cabin crew for the fictional Kohinoor Airlines.
Director Rajesh Krishnan helms a 122-minute joy ride in his heist comedy film Crew starring Tabu, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Kriti Sanon playing the leads.
Until their peaceful lives take a dramatic turn, all seems to be fine with the three rather glamorous women — Geetu (Tabu), Jasmine Kohli (Kapoor Khan) and Divya Rana (Sanon), who are a part of an airline crew aged between the 20s and the 40s — when they are unexpectedly caught in a difficult situation orchestrated by someone with ulterior motives.

Mumbai, March 26 (Ians) Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty remembered his shooting experience in the 1997 film ‘Border’, which was based on the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971, directed by Jp Dutta. It featured Sunny Deol, Jackie Shroff, Suniel Shetty, Akshaye Khanna, Sudesh Berry, Puneet Issar, and Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Tabu, Raakhee, Pooja Bhatt, and Sharbani Mukherjee.
Suniel said that for him the movie is all about real characters and while portraying them it always felt as if something is missing or justice is not being done to them.
He said: “For me, the film ‘Border’ didn’t have reel characters. They are real-life characters. I feel we can never do justice to those characters and that uniform. But somewhere, I feel that portraying them on celluloid and bringing them closer to the audience has been a small contribution towards the real-life heroes. The film makes the audience remember that the freedom we enjoy is because of our soldiers.

New Delhi, March 5: The power of Ott to create roles for talented actors, given the medium's slant at unconventional content, seems to be having a positive impact on television, too. Content on Indian TV is changing. The small screen is increasingly coming up with fresh stories and characters.
Among changes palpable is the kind of roles going to actors who have crossed their forties. With shows such as Janani, Anupamaa, and Indiawali Maa among others, the veterans of television are making a mark on television screens more than other platforms. For the first time, perhaps, TV writers seem to be thinking of creating entire story lines around veteran actors.
Well known television actor Mahesh Thakur feels it is less about the right scripts coming from writers and more about people in power to take the call.
"I have done a lead role on Ott but later whatever scripts came my way were not good.

ReviewThe second season is simply 10 more episodes of abundant violence, sexual innuendo, toxic masculinity, father-son wars and power struggles. Saraswati DatarThere is a word that is unique to the Indian vocabulary when it comes to describing an activity that is neither particularly great nor too bad -- timepass. That is perhaps the best way one can describe watching Mirzapur 2, now streaming on Amazon Prime Video. It is entertaining in parts, has some great performances from its lead players, and has definitely been produced on a more generous budget than the previous season. However, ultimately, the second season is simply 10 more episodes of abundant violence, sexual innuendo, toxic masculinity, father-son wars and power struggles. The proceedings begin a couple of weeks after the blood-soaked finale of Season 1, where the troubled heir Munna Tripathi (Divyenndu) killed Bablu (Vikrant Massey) as per the plan, and Sweety (Shriya Pilgaonkar) becomes collateral damage. Guddu (Ali Fazal...

Starring Sonakshi Sinha,Varun Sharma,Priyanshu Jora, Kulbhushan Kharbanda,Annu Kapoor, Nadira Babbar
Directed by Shilpi Dasgputa
There are some wonderful things happening in this offbeat entertainer. For one, the tightlipped stuffed shirts are being made to talk about, ahem, sex.
When did Bollywood lose its inhibitions? Probably when we were watching B R Ishara’s Chetna or Rajinder Singh Bedi’s Dastak, revolutionary films way back in the 1970s where women were shown to have a sexual appetite that needed fuelling in a country that won’t even acknowledge male sexuality and its pitfalls unless done in whispers.
Here in this brave and uninhibited film, an anonymous woman comes to a courtroom and speaks of a husband whose ‘balloon’ had no ‘gas’ until he visited the notorious Baby Bedi’s sex clinic.

Amazon PrimeA brilliant cast of actors led by Pankaj Tripathi is let down by an inconsistent script and indulgent direction.Saraswati DatarThe name 'Mirzapur' traces its etymology back to the Persian words Emir (commander ) and Zad ( lineage) and literally translates to ‘place of a king’. It’s an apt title for Amazon Prime’s third made-in-India original, produced by Excel Media and Entertainment, that tells the story of a powerful overlord trying to rule his fiefdom while consolidating control for his heir apparent. Directed by Karan Anshuman, Mihir Desai, and Gurmmeet Singh, Mirzapur boasts of an enviable ensemble cast and a story that on paper, has all the ingredients for another small town crime potboiler. It’s an interesting ‘othering’ of small town India as a hotbed of crime and all things immoral and rather perversely exotic, for a largely urban audience watching it on a digital platform.

Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt earned several accolades for the bold film Arth that dealt with infidelity and insecurities. The film that has even been made into a popular play will now be remade as a Pakistani film by producer-distributor Hammad Chaudhary in association with Aaa Motion Pictures. Directed by Shaan Shahid of Khuda Ke Liye fame, the film has been retitled as Arth 2 along with Shaan himself playing the lead. The film will also star Humaima Malick, Mohib Mirza and Uzma Hassan. Claiming that the Pakistani audiences have become much more liberal when it comes to accepting the contemporary relationships, Hammad stated that the essence of the film will remain intact. On the other hand, Mahesh Bhatt too is delighted about the Pakistani remake of Arth and mentioned that he has given complete freedom to Shaan and Hammad to recreate the story of the film and interpret it in their own way.

While director Chandraprakash Dwivedi feels that the government has done the right thing by providing Z level security for Ramdev, the film’s lead actor Adil Hussain questions the need of Z level security for a sanyasi.
When asked to comment on this latest development, Dwivedi, whose film deals with the same subject, says, “It is indeed saddening that a sanyasi who created awareness of Yoga worldwide has a threat to his life from his opponents. Adil Hussain will play the protagonist in Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi’s upcoming film Zed Plus and to essay the role of a puncturewala convincingly in the political satire, Adil took inspiration from a puncturewala, whom he used to visit as a child.
On being asked how he prepared for his role, the actor said, “I’m from a small town and whenever our cycle tyres used to get punctured we used to go this puncturewala and his face is strongly etched in my mind. He never used to talk to us and always had this serious expression on his face while making the puncture.
