There’s no doubt that The World’s End is going to be one of the best movies of 2013. The film marks the final instalment in the highly successful Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy, following Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz.
Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are of course once more returning in the leads, with a brilliant cast starring alongside them. We caught an excellent new teaser poster back in October, and things have been fairly quiet since then.
But with production officially now wrapped, Pegg has been kind enough to tweet the first official still, giving us a great first look at the leading duo and their co-stars.

Two projects we're looking forward to seeing upon completion are Edgar Wright's The World's End and Eli Roth's The Green Inferno, and now that both films have wrapped principal production, we're one step closer to reaching that goal!
Edgar Wright returned to Twitter yesterday following a hiatus of several months to report: "...that's a wrap," referring of course to The World's End. Roth followed up Wright's tweet with: "me too!!! Just wrapped an hour ago. Congrats!" and posted the following photo on Instagram.
The World's End is directed by Wright and stars Simon Pegg along with long-time buddy Nick Frost, Rosamund Pike, Martin Freeman, Paddy Considine and Eddie Marsan. Look for it in theatres on October 25, 2013.

They are convinced to stage an encore by mate Gary King, a 40-year old man trapped at the cigarette end of his teens, who drags his reluctant pals to their home town and once again attempts to reach the fabled pub, The World’s End. Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, and Edgar Wright’s “The World’s End” may or may not be coming to you sometime next year. Since the film has been in the works for a while, 2013 sounds like a pretty fair bet. After all, it’s not like we’re talking about a $100 million dollar, special effects-heavy film here. It’s about a couple of guys drinking themselves to death in a series of pubs, right? Maybe. Frankly, I’m still not sure what the hell this movie is about, but maybe this helpful synopsis will prove, well, helpful: 20 years after attempting an epic pub crawl, five childhood friends reunite when one of them becomes hell bent on trying the drinking marathon again. They are convinced to stage an encore by mate Gary King, a 40-year old man trapped at the cigarette end of his teens, who drags his reluctant pals to...

If you're one of the 2.6 million people who follow Simon Pegg on Twitter (enough to form his own city, Peggville, where the currency is fried gold), then you'll have seen him mention an upcoming exclusive for his new film, The World's End. And here it is, a new poster.Like the Comic-Con World's End teaser poster, there's definitely an emphasis on the public house side of things – the film is about a pub crawl, after all – but this time around there's much more of a Ragnarök / armageddon / cataclysm / doomsday vibe, what with the licks of flame, falling asteroids and the excellent tagline of "Good food. Fine ales. Total annihilation."The plot of the final part of the Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy from Simon Pegg (writes, stars), Nick Frost (stars) and Edgar Wright (writes, directs) finds five childhood friends reuniting after 20 years because one of them – Pegg's 40 year-old Gary King, who...

Good food. Fine ales. Total Annihilation. There you go, probably the best description of the first teaser poster for Edgar Wright’s upcoming movie titled The World’s End. The movie is already set to open next fall, but we still have nothing spectacular to share with you. Except this (not so impressive) poster, of course. The only thing we know about the project is that some great, great cast is involved in the whole thing! More about that, and a better look at the poster in the rest of this report.
So, first of all, let us start with that cast-part. As you already see on this picture, The World’s End reunites Wright with his stars Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, which means that this project will actually complete The Blood and Ice Cream Trilogy (add The World’s End to Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz,...

Soon to be seen traversing across the wilds of Middle-Earth in The Hobbit, Martin Freeman's next role will see him staying a little closer to home when he stars in Edgar Wright's The Worlds End. Freeman will join Simon Pegg, Eddie Marsan, Nick Frost and Paddy Considine as the five friends at the heart of the film who find themselves caught up in the end of the world while re-enacting a legendary pub crawl from their youth. Nothing much else is known about the film, though speculation is rife that the plot will hinge on an alien invasion, which will be the final part of Wright, Pegg, and Frost's Cornetto trilogy (Shaun Of The Dead, and Hot Fuzz being the other two). Synopsis: 20 years after attempting an epic pub crawl, five childhood friends reunite when one of them becomes hell bent on trying the drinking marathon again. They...

Here's a fun fact: Peter Jackson had an ever so brief cameo in Edgar Wright's "Hot Fuzz" (so did Cate Blanchett, for the record). You know who else did? His future Bilbo Baggins, and now that actor will be taking in a role in "The World's End." So, small world right? Anyway, with cameras now rolling on the final chapter in the Cornetto Trilogy, Martin Freeman and professional acting curmudgeon Eddie Marsan (rare picture of him smiling above) have come onboard. The pair join Nick Frost and Simon Pegg (of course) along with Rosamund Pike in the tale of a pub crawl that takes on apocalyptic dimensions. Oh glorious day! Edgar Wright along with Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are back together to wrap up their Blood and Ice Cream trilogy, with The World's End. If you've been anxiously awaiting them to get back together for this final movie (as I have) then today's a good day as the announcement has come in that filming has officially begun.
Apparently Martin Freeman and Ediie Marsan have also joined the cast, so that's not bad news either. I couldn't be more pleased. Edgar Wright has quickly become one of my favorite working directors, and I'm keenly interested in just about anything he does. Shaun of the Dead remains one of my favorite films and nary a week goes by that Scott Pilgrim isn't in my blu-ray player at some point. Call me obsessed, I just don't care.
Anyway, here's the official press release about the start of production:

Edgar Wright is bringing the whole gang back together in his final "Blood and Ice Cream Trilogy" film, "The World's End."
An official press release has gone out announcing that production has started on the movie and offering up the full cast for the flick. In addition to Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, we've learned that Martin Freeman, Paddy Considine, Eddie Marsan and Rosamund Pike have joined the project as well.
Consider us thrilled about this Freeman news. Fans will know that he's been a regular in Wright's trilogy, having a small but memorable part as Declan in "Shaun of the Dead" and playing the Met sergeant who transfers Pegg's character to the country in "Hot Fuzz." We can only imagine what role he'll play here. Hopefully he'll end up getting a little more screentime than he did in the past, considering he's moved up a bit in the world...

The hit British team behind cop comedy Hot Fuzz are reuniting for the forthcoming homegrown laughter-fest The World's End. Simon Pegg and regular sidekick Nick Frost join director Edgar Wright and star Paddy Considine for the first time since the 2007 comedy about a London plod out of his depth in the West Country. Twenty years after attempting an epic pub crawl, former charmer and divorced architect Gary King (Considine) persuades his drinking buddies to return to their hometown and re-stage their boozy bid to reach the fabled World's End pub.

In probably the greatest piece of news since Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg, and Nick Frost reuniting for The Worlds End, comes the announcement that Paddy Considine will be joining the cast, his second time working with the team since Hot Fuzz. He will be one of the main cast of actors, and while no proper details have been revealed about the role, his character has been described as a former ladies man and musician who has grown up to be a divorced architect. While I have been excited for the third part of Wright's Cornetto trilogy for quite a while, the inclusion of Considine, a fantastic actor in his own right, has just about pushed me over the edge.
