Costume designer, briefly at RKO in 1936 and 1944. Studied art at the University of Washington. Worked on theatrical costume designs, and simultaneously in magazine illustration for Vogue and Harper's Bazaar. In France from 1927, illustrating French Vogue and Femina. Opened own salon in New York in 1932, specialising in interchangeable day-to-evening wardrobes. Retired in 1957.
