Animated versions of sci-fi movies are often hit or miss. We've seen plenty of sci-fi films play with animation like Matrix's the Animatrix, Starship Troopers, Rambo the animated series, and um.. Robocop the animated series. Whether it's done with animation or CGI, it can be an interesting way to tell new stories, and that is what Bruce Stirling and John Knox are trying to do with the Terminator franchise.
This animated trailer serves as a proof of concept for a Terminator film project called Extermination and it has a lot of good concepts, great art, and some decent voice acting. They are obviously trying to make something fresh and good. I wholly support this idea, or rather, I support the making of something good with Terminator. The past few movies haven't been good, so a new animated film could change things up and make it interesting.
As you know James Cameron...

It's no secret that the Terminator franchise is in trouble. Minus the ill-fated television series, the films have been on a downward spiral since T2. The series needs something fresh to bring old fans back to the series and entice new ones without using Arnold Schwarzenegger.
I'm sharing this animated movie pitch because I think German Bruce Stirling John Knox is on to something here. I'm so tired of films concerned with the timeline! Give me a film that shows Skynet and humans in an all-out war with as much of the budget as possible launched at the effects and not making Arnold look like he's in his late 30s!
Here's hoping this gains some real traction! Thanks to Screen Rant for the tip. ...

At one point this season, it seemed quite possible there would be no Reign Season 4. After this season finale, Reign Season 3 Episode 18, I am gutted, heartbroken, and then gutted again.
And I'm also totally ready for Reign Season 4 and finding out exactly where this series is going now that Mary is all alone.
If you've read just about any of my other reviews, particularly of CW shows, you know that I have beef with the fact that literally no one ever gets to be happy. Someone is always breaking up with someone else, running away, being, I don't know, kidnapped, or dying.
Tonight we got not one, but Two gut-wrenching deaths, and I don't even know what life is right now.
Lola is dead. Lola is dead, and I cannot even.
I clasped my hands over my mouth and right now I sort of feel tears welling up in my...

Hadrian's wall, Culloden, the poll tax, Jacob Rees-Mogg: yes, England has inflicted an awful lot of angst and pain on Scotland down the centuries – but, look, we still don't want you to leave
1 Sorry for calling every last one of you "Jock". We now know it's offensive, especially if you're a woman.
2 So sorry for the years of heartless Conservative governments that you never voted for that ripped the heart out of the Scottish mining, steel and shipbuilding industries, butchered public services and imposed an unwonted, dismal neo-liberal ethos on a land to which such a callous political and economic philosophy was inimical.
3 And for making you guinea pigs for Margaret Thatcher's disastrous poll tax, inflicting it on you a year before England and Wales, and then – somehow! – forgetting to backdate the rebate for the tax when it was abolished in the early 90s.
4 Sorry for the 1746 Dress Act that banned tartan,...

At the end of civilization, zombies greatly outnumber people and every day is a fight to see tomorrow. Just when he is about to give up this fight, rugged wanderer John Knox winds up being saved by a ragtag group of survivors. After initial suspicion, Knox proves his worth and slips into his new family in the wasteland. However when a war party of maniacal raiders assaults the camp they kidnap Sarah, Knox’s love interest and it’s up to Knox and the few who escaped the attack to gather what resources they can (including zombies!) to launch an all-or-nothing rescue mission on the raiders’ home fortress.

Vince Vaughn has fallen into somewhat of a slump lately with his film choices. Although he has shown audiences that he has a definite range with titles like Swingers and Domestic Disturbance, he’s become somewhat of an exclusive comedic presence in recent years. The trailer for his latest film, The Watch, was released a few weeks ago and the first time I saw it in theaters the person next to me couldn’t help but to remark, “hasn’t he done this already?”
It looks like someone else may have been listening to that comment too because Deadline is reporting that Vaughn and his production company, Wild West Picture Show Productions, have acquired the rights to Ridley Pearson’s novel, The Risk Agent, which was released just last month. Vaughn plans to both produce and star in the project, which the company secured with their discretionary funds.

Vince Vaughn and his Wild West Picture Show Productions have acquired the rights to Ridley Pearson's thriller novel The Risk Agent. Vaughn will star in and produce the movie for Universal Pictures. The Risk Agent is the first book in a planned series. The thriller is set in China. "When a Chinese National working for an American-owned construction company is grabbed off the streets of Shanghai in broad daylight and his one-man security detail goes missing as well, the call goes out to Rutherford Risk. That firm specializes in hostage extraction, from negotiation to recovery. Since private investigation is illegal in China, the company recruits two experts. One, Grace Chu, is a female forensic accountant who follows the money; the other, John Knox, is well trained in both combat and culture. They overcome their differing styles to try and get the hostages back before it’s too late."

According to Deadline, Vince Vaughn's Wild West Picture Show Productions has "used its discretionary fund"—normally set aside for shitty comedy tours and sandwiches—to buy Vaughn's way back into the drama business. The company has just optioned The Risk Agent from suspense author Ridley Pearson, with Vaughn attached to star as John Knox, a Shanghai-based security expert, who teams with Grace Chu, a local female forensic accountant, to rescue the kidnapped Chinese contractor of an American construction company. Playing a tough military type in a political thriller will be something of a departure for Vaughn, who's ...

Vince Vaughn is really eager to switch up his usual smart mouthed comedy thing for something with a bit more grit. Just last week it was revealed he had lined up "Gunslingers," an action adventure flick from "Braveheart" writer Randall Wallace. And earlier this year, he was linked to "Lucky Strike" with Tony Scott of all people. And now comes another movie that will potentially see him flexing some kind of acting muscles we've rarely seen from the guy who turned the word "earmuffs" into an instantly quotable piece of dialogue. The actor's production shingle Wild West Picture Show has snagged the rights to Ridley Pearson's novel "The Risk Agent," and have taken it over to Universal to start the ball rolling on a big screen adaptation that would star Vaughn. He would presumably play John Knox, a civilian with exceptional combat skills and cultural knowledge, who is teamed with forensic accountant Grace Chu,...

Vince Vaughn really does seem to be on an action kick of late, at least as regards the projects he picks up to develop. A few days ago, he nabbed Randall Wallace’s Gunslingers script, and he’s now followed up by acquiring the rights to Ridley Pearson’s thriller novel The Risk Agent.Using his Wild West Picture Show Productions company, Vaughn splashed the cash to buy the book, and he’s intending to develop it for Universal, where he has a deal. The Risk Agent is set in China, and finds a Chinese national snatched from the streets of Shanghai along with his one-man security detail. Since they worked for an American construction company, the suits put a call in to hostage extraction company Rutherford Risk. Though private eyes are illegal in the country, the team sends in forensic accountant Grace Chu and culturally trained tactical specialist John Knox...

Despite this week’s The Watch being a likely hit — all the better that it looks funny — Vince Vaughn will step outside that typical, comfortable parameter with a new outing. (Unless you hold Gus Van Sant‘s Psycho or Domestic Disturbance as benchmarks of his career.) Deadline reports that his Wild West Picture Show Productions are partnering with Universal on The Risk Agent, an international thriller that will see him in the field of action. For the sake of courtesy, please stifle your laughter.
Ridley Pearson‘s novel, from which they’ll be working, centers on two employees of Rutherford Risk, an extraction company hired, in this case, to retrieve a kidnapped Chinese national and his security guard. The two agents sent out into the field — Grace Chu, “a female forensic accountant who follows the money,” and John Knox, an agent who has “combat and culture” to his advantage — dig...

Exclusive: Wild West Picture Show Productions has used its discretionary fund to acquire the Ridley Pearson novel The Risk Agent. William Burke and William Hare are notorious for a series of murders in 1828 in which they suffocated (later to become known as “burking” in their honor) seventeen victims and sold the bodies to Dr. John Knox, a medical professor at the renowned University of Edinburgh, for use in dissection and other scientific pursuits. They were later convicted and hung for their crimes, though their legacy lives on for aficionados of both medical science and murder history.

Edinburgh on film isn't just Trainspotting it's classics: Chariots of Fire, romance: One Day and thrills: Burke and Hare. Here are 10, picked by Andrew Pulver, film editor of the Guardian
• As featured in our Edinburgh city guide
The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie, Ronald Neame, 1969
Muriel Spark's celebrated 1961 novella was, until Trainspotting, Edinburgh's most readily identifiable contribution to modern literature. Inspired largely by Spark's own time at [James] Gillespie's school, this elaborate, empathetic satire on a fascism-admiring teacher would not have been expected to be a major candidate for Oscar attention, but Maggie Smith won the best actress award in 1969, after Ronald "Poseidon Adventure" Neame directed the film version. Sixties Edinburgh has no problem standing in for 30s Edinburgh: the Marcia Blaine school is sited in the Edinburgh Academy building in Henderson Row, while it's possible to stand in the exact same spot as Maggie Smith on the Grassmarket and bellow: "Observe,...
