- Suffered a stroke and had to be moved to St Luke's Hospital in Headington, England. He passed away three years later on May 22, 2008.
- Moved to Oxford, England in the 1990s and exhibited his work in the Ashmolean Museum, the Vale and Downland Museum and the Oxford Museum. His elder son John is a curator at the Oxford Museum.
- It was Harry's wife, Daisy, who inspired the last scene of 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968), when Hal the robot starts singing the song standard "Daisy, Daisy".

- 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) director Stanley Kubrick hired him to supply designs to bring to life the futuristic technology that catapulted man into space. Harry worked on the project for nearly 3 years and shared an Oscar nomination for Best Art Direction in 1969. He also worked with George Lucas on the first Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope (1977) film and earned a second Oscar nomination or the sequel Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back (1980).
- Worked closely with rocket scientist Wernher von Braun and illustrated his book, "History of Rocketry and Space Travel".
- Served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War illustrating training manuals for flying schools. Joined NASA later in the 1950s where he served as section head for the future project staff. He led a group of illustrators who depicted interplanetary and deep space projects. He left NASA in 1965 and soon became involved with the "2001" movie.
- Studied art in Germany in the late 1940s before arriving in America in 1951.
