The night before I interviewed Chris O'Dowd, I observed him dancing -- surrounded by a group of onlookers, of course -- to the A-ha earworm "Take on Me." This isn't a particularly embarrassing or scandalous observation (look, who hasn't danced to "Take on Me"?), but what was noticeable was just how much fun O'Dowd was having.
Premiere parties aren't always what a normal human being would call a good time. They're often overcrowded, with the talent from the film safely secured in some sort of fortified backroom to protect them from the hoards of attendees who were not in the movie. By contrast, at the New York premiere party for "The Sapphires," O'Dowd looked like a guy who wanted to make sure everyone was having fun. He even yelled at Harvey Weinstein in an effort to get Weinstein to sing. (Weinstein did not sing.)

Sometimes the complexity of The Good Wife makes my head hurt. As does life. Fortunately, I can rewind The Good Wife and try to figure out all the bamboozling parts at least a little better.
Let’s start from the beginning. We’re back in the parking lot seeing Cary getting beat up again, in case we forgot, which is a slightly jolting way to kick things off. Yet the next time we see Cary in person, he has one slightly bruised eye. That’s it. I mean, I assume his torso is pretty wrecked, but all that pounding and he still looks pretty much perfect? Uh, Ok. Also, instead of someone rushing to his side at a hospital, or him going to Kalinda to say, “Hey, this is effed,” or some other satisfying sequence of events, we see him in this first appearance chatting with Horrible Husband.

HollywoodNews.com: Paul McCartney‘s wonderful “Kisses on the Bottom” is not the only Beatles-eque CD of the day. Roberta Flack is delivering her long-awaited “Let it Be Roberta,” a stunning reimagining of Beatles songs like “We Can Work it Out,” “In My Life,” “Come Together,” George Harrison’s “Isn’t it a Pity,” and –shockingly–a three minute version of “Hey Jude.” On the latter, Roberta simply turns the main song into an acoustic rendering and drops the long “na-na” section. Her versions of “Let it Be” and “The Long and Winding Road” are terrific, too. Go straight to amazon or ITunes right now for these CDs. Then of course Van Halen has “A Different Kind of Truth” with David Lee Roth returning as lead singer and Wolfgang Van Halen replacing Michael Anthony as bassist. There are also two more contemporary releases: from the Fray, and...

Red: My Uncensored Life in Rock
By Sammy Hagar
Hardcover | Kindle
HarperCollins
Release date: March 15, 2011
Sammy Hagar was once the frontman of one of the biggest and greatest bands in history, the mighty Van Halen. But while Hagar sang about standing on "Top Of The World," as he surely was at times, making millions of dollars, living a life of luxury with fast cars and plenty of women, the musician didn't always have it easy. Matter of fact, Hagar spent years learning that money, fame, and hit records couldn't solve every problem, like his wife's mental state or his bandmate's addictions and jealousies.
In his autobiography, Red: My Uncensored Life in Rock, we learn that Hagar began life modestly in Fontana, CA. The youngest of four children, he was raised in a low-income household with an alcoholic father who abused his mother. He later went on have his own family...

Rock legend Sammy Hagar just released his autobiography, Red: My Uncensored Life in Rock, and trust me, it's seriously uncensored.
Hagar is best known for his role as frontman of Van Halen (replacing David Lee Roth in the mid-1980s) and as you can imagine, he's got some great stories to tell.
Check out the video here below of Hagar talking a bit about his new book, along with his co-author Joel Selvin.
You may have seen the buzz on Hagar's comments to MTV about being abducted by aliens. I have to say, that's brilliant marketing right there, because all of a sudden the name "Sammy Hagar" is all over the net. Personally, I'd rather read about his musical endeavors and what it was like to be part of one of the biggest bands in the world [...]...

“Ever get the feeling something bad is going to happen?” Kalinda asks early in the “Ham Sandwich” episode of “The Good Wife,” which unfolds at such a leisurely pace, it almost mocks the emotional explosions to come. Certainly, the playful title—referring to Alicia’s comment that a Chicago grand jury would “indict a ham sandwich”– doesn’t suggest the dark waters ahead. Every day a multitude of stars wander through the halls of MTV News to talk about their latest projects and goof around with our intrepid correspondents. But sometimes we catch stars elsewhere, and that's why we put together Spotted!, a daily compendium of stars in the wild.
Sammy Hagar sometimes gets a bad rap, mostly from people who think that Van Halen took a nosedive after the departure of David Lee Roth. But over the course of his career, Hagar's time with Van Halen is actually only a small portion of his greater body of work. By the time Eddie Van Halen came calling, he had already notched plenty of hits and fans both with Montrose and as a solo artist. And since he exited Van Halen, he has found success with his band the Waboritas, as a member of Chickenfoot and, perhaps most importantly, as a resort owner and tequila baron.

Let's kick this off by acknowledging that this isn't really a list of the decade's best kid movies because -- let's face it -- kids like nearly everything they see in a movie theater, as evidenced by the upcoming "squeakuel" to 2007's Alvin and the Chipmunks. While we'd all like to think that our progeny shall be born with very our own impeccable taste, that's just not how it works, but I do suppose that bodily function jokes are an inevitable rite of passage that most adults learn to either tolerate or ignore and, in unfortunate cases, never outgrow. At this point, I could put together a sanitized list of films that avoid such jokes and call it sufficient, but that's not of much use here. After all, when it comes to a list like this that concerns films that have been in circulation for a matter of years, most...

"Three Rivers", a new medical drama from CBS is coming up with the next challenge for the elite team. Andy and his co-workers are trying to save an 18-year-old college student who suddenly passes out in front of her school. She is in need of a double lung transplant but the team runs into a road block that might not allow her to be eligible for a new set of lungs.
Alyssa Diaz guest stars as the college student in need of transplant, Christy. The episode "Ryan's First Day", which is slated to air on Sunday, October 11, was formerly known as "Tick Tock", the show's debut episode. The network however, decided to switch the episode with the one premiering on October 4, "Place of Life". Ryan in the title refers to Ryan Abbott, the inexperienced new transplant coordinator played by Christopher J. Hanke.

Activision, unwilling to skate by the holiday season with just "Guitar Hero 5" and "DJ Hero," is bringing one more rhythm game into your already rock-laden household before the year is out. "Guitar Hero: Van Halen" will be releasing on December 22nd, and features the musical stylings of Eddie, Alex and Wolfgang Van Halen along with the vocal insanity that is David Lee Roth. Sammy Hagar is, predictably, a no-show.
The game will follow the trend of "Gh: Metallica" and "Gh: Aerosmith" by including songs from not only Van Halen, but also other groups with similar musical style, including Weezer, The Foo Fighters and Queen.
Here's the full song list for your viewing pleasure:
Van Halen Songs
“Ain't Talkin Bout Love”
“And The Cradle Will Rock”
“Atomic Punk”
“Beautiful Girls”
“Cathedral” (solo)
“Dance The Night Away”

Unborn In The USA: Inside the War on Abortion, 2007 Directed by: Stepehn Fell and Will Thompson Whether you are pro-choice or pro-life, the subject of abortion will be a controversial issue forever. Unborn In The USA: Inside the War on Abortion is a documentary worth watching for everyone. Unborn In The USA: Inside the War on Abortion is the first feature length documentary completed by student filmmaker’s Stephen Fell and Will Thompson. The heart of this project began when Rice University students, Fell and Thompson, were required to create a portrait of a person they did not know, for a documentary production course. While completing this documentary, this student duo refused funding from churches and production companies, and was backed by the support of their University. By choosing to accept student grants, this further helped to promote, ensure and maintain their objectivity, just another reason why students everywhere should...

Man, a few hours after I mourn the fact that crappy Leonard Cohen tickets were too rich for my blood, there's word that Spinal Tap is going back on tour -- Unwigged and Unplugged. It might sound unnatural since these are the guys who like to crank it up to 11, but Christopher Guest, Michael McKean, and Harry Shearer are getting ready to tour as themselves -- just three guys and their guitars.
If it's anything like the clip above, expect a good mixture of Spinal Tap and The Folksman (you know, A Mighty Wind). It makes sense -- there comes a time in life when long hair and rockin' outfits just looks all wrong (sorry, David Lee Roth). Along with the spanky clip above, Collider has posted video of the entire Q&A and the tour schedule for this Unwigged and Unplugged tour.
