His childhood best friend was his on-screen co-star/best friend 'Billie
'Buckwheat' Thomas' (both of their characters share the trade
"O-tay!" catchphrase, though Porky was the first to use it, in
Pay As You Exit (1936)).
After his movie career he became a school teacher in Colorado for
awhile then moved to Minnesota in order to be closer to his only
son.
Was replaced by Robert Blake because he became thinner growing up and
the producers wanted "Porky" to be a chunky kid.
Chosen for his Our Gang role because of his resemblance to Our Gang
lead star George 'Spanky' McFarland, and often portrayed
Spanky's younger brother in the series.
Among the films Mr. Lee appeared in were "Bored of Education (1936)" which won
the Oscar for best one-reel short subject.
His entire acting career was spent working in Our Gang shorts, and one feature, "General Spanky". He never appeared in any other films.
Lee often played Spanky's younger brother in the films. Ironically, Spanky McFarland was born in Dallas, TX, and Porky Lee was born in its sister city, Fort Worth.
