NEW YORK -- The New York Film Critics Circle on Monday added New York Post film critics Lou Lumenick and Megan Lehmann to its ranks as well as the New York Sun's Nathan Lee. The announcement was made by outgoing NYFCC chairman Andrew Johnston, who said that yet another New York Post staffer, Jonathan Foreman, will take over the chairmanship next year. Over the weekend, the Los Angeles Film Critics Assn. voted to cancel its annual awards, which would have been voted on Dec. 13 and handed out Jan. 26, because of the MPAA's ban on Oscar screeners (HR 10/20). The NYFCC did not use Monday's announcements to take any official stance on the issue. The 69-year-old NYFCC will vote on its annual movie kudos Dec. 15 at Manhattan's Muse Hotel. Awards will be handed out Jan. 4 at Big Apple eatery Noche. The NYFCC comprises film reviewers from New York-based publications and honors excellence in U.S. and world cinema. According to the organization, its awards have predicted the Oscar winners for best picture with a historical success rate of 43%.
