Turns out, ‘So You Think You Can Dance” devotees like what Season 16 winner Bailey Munoz likes. Out of the numbers he did on the show’s finale, 36% chose his jazzy Ray Leeper duet with runner-up Mariah Russell to Inxs’ “Need You Tonight” –complete with bare chest and sexy black-leather outfits — as their favorite. The routine revealed a more studly side to this b-boy, a guy who is so sweet and cute that he always gave Mariah flowers when they practiced together.
In second place, with 26% of the vote, was his Aloe Blackstone jazz routine with second runner-up and contemporary dancer Gino Cosculluela to “The Girl From Ipanema,” as they both tried to catch the eye of the imaginary lovely on the beach.

Season 16 of Fox’s”So You Think You Can Dance” has come to a close with 19-year-old b-boy Bailey “Bailrok” Munoz taking the title of America’s favorite dancer. The key to success for the first-ever break-dancer to win the top spot was his versatility when it came to different types of choreography. The 5-foot-tall ball of energy was rarely daunted by routines outside of his comfort zone — save for maybe the cha cha. But this gifted entertainer always gave it his all.
In fact, Bailey was featured in nine routines of various permutations, including five duos – three with partner Mariah Russell, one with All-Star Koine Iwasaki and another with Gino Cosculluella. He was also took part in a male trio with Gino and ballroom dancer Ezra Sosa. And he participated in three group numbers with the rest of the Top 10 contestants. The dancers danced, and voters voted for the “So You Think You Can Dance” season 16 finale, so there was nothing to do but find out who won: Gino Cosculluela, Bailey Munoz, Sophie Pittman or Mariah Russell? Find out below in our live blog with all the minute-by-minute developments as they happen.
Munoz was the only b-boy left in the competition against a trio of contemporary specialists, but you wouldn’t know it from how well he picks up choreography in a variety of styles. In last week’s “Top 4 Perform,” the final competitive performance episode of the season, Munoz danced Broadway, Bollywood, hip-hop, and smooth jazz with all of his competitors and with all-star Comfort Fedoke. And Bollywood was the only dance for which he received any criticism from the judges — and even that was pretty mild.

It all comes down to this. “So You Think You Can Dance” has narrowed the competition to its final four dancers: Gino Cosculluela, Bailey Munoz, Sophie Pittman and Mariah Russell. On “Top 4 Perform” night that quartet danced for the last time before viewers cast their votes for America’s favorite dancer. So who made the best last impression? And who do you think deserves to win? Find out below in our live blog with all the minute-by-minute developments as they happen.
Going into Monday night’s show Munoz was our odds-on-favorite to win, overtaking his partner Russell, whom our readers thought was the front-runner for most of the live shows. The judges have repeatedly dubbed them the couple to beat — though of course, even if they are the best duo of the competition, there can ultimately be only one winner.

Who’s the couple to beat on “So You Think You Can Dance” this season has been up for debate in recent weeks. At first the judges thought it was clearly Bailey Munoz and Mariah Russell. Then Gino Cosculluela and Sophie Pittman gave them a run for their money after their previous partners had been eliminated. But on “Top 6 Perform” night, the judges swung back the other way: Munoz and Russell are truly the couple to beat. Scroll down to see the “sexy and smooth” routine that may just have sealed the deal for this dynamic duo.
After splitting up at the beginning of the night to perform routines with “Sytycd” all-stars, Munoz and Russell were reunited for a jazz routine choreographed by Ray Leeper and set to “Need You Tonight” by Inxs. “Sexy and smooth” was how Russell described it during rehearsals, and it’s hard to think of better adjectives for it.

Hey, "So You Think You Can Dance" fans. Tonight, July 29, 2019, another episode for this 16th season did indeed air. It revealed who the top five girls are who made it to the Live shows this season! In tonight's episode, each top ten girl was teamed up with an all-star dancer from a previous season to learn a routine outside their style from a choreographer. After that, they had to perform the routine in front of the judges: Lauriann Gibson, Dominic "D-Trix" Sandoval, Mary Murphy and Nigel Lythgoe. The judges then decided who all they needed to cut to come out with our top five girls. Contestant Mariah Russell kicked off the performances in tonight's episode. You had some real authentic moves.

This week, the Top 10 female dancers who made it through the Academy rounds are paired with an All-Star guy for a choreographed duet. The twist? It is outside their own style. In our live blog recap below, we detail which five will survive and compete on the live shows on the latest episode of “So You Think You Can Dance.
9 p.m. Host Cat Deeley declares that the Academy “was the most grueling week our dancers have ever endured.” I believe she might have that observation on a tape loop – but I digress. “In the end, 20 survived. But it’s not over yet. Tonight, the Top 10 girls must take the stage for the final cut.”
9:02 p.m. The girls will be paired with an All-Star male and a ”legendary” choreographer. If that wasn’t enough intimidation, they must dance in a style outside their usual comfort zone. As Cat says,...

Slavik Pustovoytov and Genessy Castillo have such great chemistry on “So You Think You Can Dance” that the judges just can’t stop wishing they were dating. On Monday night when the Top 8 performed they kept on shipping the young dancers. Nigel Lythgoe even asked them if they had any announcements to make after their fellow contestant Jensen Arnold celebrated her own engagement in recent weeks.
Pustovoytov and Castillo have been cagey about their relationship status, which is understandable since they’ve only been dancing together for a few weeks and they’re both, you know, teenagers. A nationally televised reality competition would be an awkward place for anyone to publicly announce a relationship — unless you’re on “American Idol” that is.
For now these two should probably focus on the competition at hand since they’ve both gone from underdogs to possible front-runners. And while Pustovoytov was safe this week,...

“So You Think You Can Dance” saved the best for last when the top 10 women performed on July 23 for 5 coveted spots in the live shows. Jensen Arnold performed a routine that was out of her comfort zone, but the judges thought she was the class of the field. Watch her performance above, and vote in our poll below to let us know what you thought of her.
This final round of cuts at the Academy before the live shows challenged the contestants to dance a routine in a style that wasn’t their specialty. Arnold is a ballroom dancer, so she was challenged with a jazz routine alongside her all-star partner Brandon Bryant (the runner-up in season five), but the judges were so effusive about her “sensational” performance that there was no doubt she would advance to the next round. Read some of the judges’ comments below.
