- Heddy Lester was born on June 18, 1950 in Leeuwarden, Friesland, Netherlands. She was an actress, known for Groeten van Gerri (2020), Zeg 'ns Aaa (1981) and De tranen van Maria Machita (1991). She died on January 29, 2023 in Amsterdam, Noord-Holland, Netherlands.

- Lester launched her solo career in 1974.
- After her Eurovision appearance, Lester worked in a variety of both musical and dramatic stage roles, including works by Lorca (Blood wedding), Euripides (The Trojan Women) and Joshua Sobol (Ghetto).
- Her father ran a restaurant in Amsterdam, where she met singer Ramses Shaffy, with whom she started touring.
- Her brother said:" She fought hard against the disease. At first it seemed to be going in the right direction, until a few weeks ago it turned out that the cancer had also affected her liver. Then it suddenly happened very quickly.".
- Lester performed extensively in theater throughout her career in partnership with her brother Frank. In 2020 she also played in the film 'Greetings from Gerri', starring Frank Lammers.
