The Cinema Audio Society has its new board of directors and officers.
Peter Kurland, who quit the Movie Academy last year over its plan to cut Best Sound and seven other categories from the live Oscarcast, was elected president of Cas, replacing Karol Urban. VP Steve Venezia, Secretary Frank Morrone and Treasurer Lee Orloff were re-elected to their respective posts.

Magnolia Pictures has released the official trailer for “Little Richard: I Am Everything,” Lisa Cortés’ latest documentary, which focuses on the iconic rock n’ roll musician Richard “Little Richard” Penniman.
The film explores how Little Richard and the Black queer origins of rock n’ roll founded the whitewashed canon of American pop music. The documentary follows how Richard contributed and created a self-expressive art form for musicians that ultimately would shape the music industry throughout the following decades. “Little Richard: I Am Everything,” interview subjects include the musician’s family, Black and queer scholars and celebrity subjects including Billy Porter, Mick Jagger, Sir Lady Java, John Waters, Nile Rodgers and many more.

Edward Moskowitz has been named president of the Cinema Audio Society, outgoing president Richard Lightstone announced on Monday. Lightstone has held the post for four years.
The other new officers of the organization, which represents the industry's sound professionals, are David Bondelevitch, vp; R.D. Floyd, treasurer; and Peter Damski, secretary. New directors are Agamemnon Andrianos, ; Brydon "Beau" Baker, Richard Branca, James Coburn IV, John Coffey, Chris Elam, Ed Greene, Melissa Hofmann, Sherry Klein, Michael Minkle and Fred Tator. Alternates are Joe Foglia, Paul Vik Marshal, Ken Polk and Greg Watkins.

The Cinema Audio Society said Wednesday that longtime Oscarcast producer Gilbert Cates will be presented Feb. 17 with the Filmmaker Award at the 43rd Cinema Audio Society Awards at the Millennium Biltmore in Los Angeles.
The ceremony honors achievement in sound mixing.
"Gil Cates is a skilled filmmaker who is a master at all he touches," CAS board president Richard Lightstone said. "He excels as a director and a producer in feature films, television and theater and does it all with aplomb and grace and truly defines the CAS Filmmaker Award."
Quentin Tarantino was the first recipient of the award last year.
This year's CAS nominees range from Babel and Dreamgirls in the motion picture category to an episode from The Sopranos in the TV series category.
Other nominees include Flight 93 and an episode from the series Sleeper Cell in the television movies and miniseries category; episodes of Lost and Heroes also were nominated for TV series.
Nova's The Great Robot Race and "Paul McCartney: The Space Within Us" were nominated for television, nonfiction, variety or music, series or specials.
