- A journey took her to Satawal, Micronesia, where Lindsey, who earned her doctorate specializing in ethnonavigation, documented rare and nearly lost traditions of the palu, Micronesian non-instrument navigators. Her mentor was the renowned Grand Master Navigator-Priest Pius "Mau" Piailug, who, until his death in 2010, was considered the greatest wayfinder in the world.

- Lindsey also recorded Satawalese chants and practices that have never been seen or heard by the outside world.

In addition to recording vanishing traditions, Lindsey served as executive producer of a multipart television series for PBS in partnership with the National Geographic Society.
- Her work recognizes Pius "Mau" Piailug (Mau Piailug) of Micronesia, her mentor with whom she studied ethnonavigation.
