Natalie Portman touched down at JFK last night accompanied by her husband, Benjamin Millepied, son Aleph, and their pup, Whiz. The family of four have been on the go in recent weeks with trips to Paris and La. Natalie shot a new Miss Dior fragrance campaign in France and traveled to the West Coast to shoot her latest feature, Knight of Cups. She's in high demand this Summer and is also set to start filming Thor 2 with Chris Hemsworth soon. Natalie's not the only one who's been busy with work commitments. Benjamin recently put on a performance piece at La's Moca. Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald have set up a new pirate drama at NBC under their TV company, Parkes/MacDonald. Deadline reports that the series is tentatively titled Republic of Pirates, and is the first drama pickup for this development cycle for new NBC chief Bob Greenblatt and his team. The project was co-written by Jim Hart and Amanda Wells and executive produced by Parkes, MacDonald, Gold and Tom Fontana. The show is based on the book The Republic of Pirates by Colin Woodard. The story is "set during the 10-year “Golden Age of Piracy” from 1715 to 1725, it follows some of the world’s most notorious pirates as they forge their own rogue nation, called New Providence, which became the first democracy in the Americas."

So now they're jumping right in, selling a project to NBC earlier this month under Parkes/MacDonald Prods.' first-look deal with Ums.
