President Barack Obama suggested that if he had been eligible to run for a third term, he would have been able to rally Americans behind his message of a more tolerant and diverse nation. During an interview with his former adviser David Axelrod on his podcast “The Axe Files,” Obama referred to a speech by Henry Cabot Lodge, the point of which, Obama said, was “not to bury that ugliness,” that “there’s this thing in this country that is good and unifies us and, ultimately, will win out.” He went on to tell Axelrod that although he saw that spirit of.

Hswaii Five-0 is at its best when Jerry is let out of his basement office for an extended period of time.
It's a shame that it was under such tragic circumstances on Hawaii Five-0 Season 7 Episode 9, as Jerry's friend Susie gets shot down in front of him.
There are many theories floating around about who actually killed President Kennedy, and this episode effectively taps into the conviction of conspiracy theorists that, as Jerry puts it, "the Lgt (Lone Guman Theory) is crap."
As Jerry's oldest friend at Five-0, it falls to Chin to comfort Jerry, as Chin knows him best.
Jerry: Is this water ...
Chin: Distilled? Yeah, I know how you feel about tap water.

As they retrace Susie's final days, Jerry and Chin have a nice Mulder-and-Scully vibe going on. (It's great to see those Lost alumni thrown together.

Sometimes, when I am watching this show, I plug my ears when the judges speak to each other. I am humiliated by proxy! Xtina, sensationalist, seems bored, like a Woman Under the Influence. Blake keeps bragging about his wins even though he definitely doesn’t care about them in real life. Cee Lo is amazing, but everyone ignores him. And Adam has launched this strange new complimentary personality in order to antagonize Blake, I think? Is he the Henry Cabot Lodge of This Is the Voice?Ray Boudreaux, “Use Me”I loved that Ray’s shirt was buttoned up all the way to the collar. His hard-luck backstory was that he had an adorable daughter and sometimes he made disgusting-looking sandwiches with her. They showed it in a montage. His daughter was kind of a genius, actually. She ate those sandwiches without complaint and was so good at talking. As for Ray’s singing potential,...

George R. R. Martin — author of the “Song of Ice and Fire” fantasy series, world’s coolest shopping mall Santa — took to his website yesterday to voice his displeasure with what he called “attempts at voter suppression” by the Gop in swing states during this election cycle. “It is one thing to attempt to win elections,” writes Martin, “But trying to do so by denying the most basic and important right of any American citizen…that goes beyond reprehensible.” Martin notes that the Republican party used to be led by people he admired despite disagreeing them — including Henry Cabot Lodge...

Real answers to that question won't come until voters begin pulling levers, but in the meantime, something else is coming into focus: how the Huntsman 2012 buzz, which began a full four months before he officially left the Obama administration, affected his service in China.
An embassy official who worked closely with Huntsman in Beijing told The Daily Beast that the last few months of the ambassador's tenure were marked by friction with the White House.
