So here we are in Christmas week, most of the usual streaming companies have done well for you so that you won’t be too bored post turkey when you have to tolerate the family. Apart from Now TV though, there is still a serious lack of Christmas themed films out there which is a disappointment unless you really like the Santa Clause movies because they are floating around Netflix somewhere.
Good news for 2014 though is that House of Cards season two debuts on Netflix in February and also the Breaking Bad/Bob Odenkirk spin-off “Better Call Saul” is going to make its way to Netflix at some point during the year as well. Netflix has agreed a deal where they will stream the show very soon after season one ends on AMC stateside but in Europe they will be the exclusive home of the show. This probably means that...

Eli Roth is developing a sequel to his cannibal-themed horror film The Green Inferno.
Beyond The Green Inferno will see Nicholas Lopez take up the director's chair, with Roth producing the project in conjunction with Worldview Entertainment.
Recently debuting at the Toronto International Film Festival, The Green Inferno follows a group of student activists who fall afoul of a tribe of cannibals in the Peruvian jungle.
"Our plan is in the tradition of Aliens, where the creative team went bigger, darker and scarier into the unknown. After writing and scouting all over Peru we realised that The Green Inferno had an expansive universe and that we would love to visit it again and go deeper into the jungle," said Lopez of the sequel.
"Eli has been an amazing creative collaborator and has set the groundwork for an entire universe of stories we're both incredibly excited to tell."

It's only just made its debut at the Toronto International Film Festival, but Eli Roth's The Green Inferno - the first film he's directed in six years - has already earned itself a sequel. Roth will produce and "present" Beyond The Green Inferno, again in cahoots with Worldview Entertainment, with his recent Aftershock collaborator Nicholas Lopez stepping in to direct.Roth's film sees a group of student activists head deep into the Peruvian jungle and undergo a cannibal holocaust at the hands of a hungry indigent tribe. Specific details of the sequel are secret for now, but, says Lopez, "Our plan is in the tradition of Aliens, where the creative team went bigger, darker and scarier into the unknown. After writing and scouting all over Peru we realized that The Green Inferno had an expansive universe and that we would love to visit it again and go deeper into the jungle.

Eli Roth’s loving homage to the classic Italian cannibal films of the 1980s, The Green Inferno, made its debut at Toronto International Film Fest over the weekend. Roth and company must have been pleased with the reaction, because they’ve announced that a sequel is already in the planning stages. The first film, which features a group of American student activists who run afoul of an Amazon cannibal tribe, will get a follow-up directed by Roth’s Aftershock helmer Nicholas Lopez. The duo promise that the sequel (dubbed Beyond the Green Inferno) will be a lot like Aliens, in that it will go “bigger, darker and scarier into the unknown.” Sounds promising – although if you’ve seen pretty much every Italian cannibal film from the...

The Green Inferno
Written by Guillermo Amoedo, Eli Roth, and Nicholas Lopez
Directed by Eli Roth
USA, 2013
The Toronto International Film Festival went primitive this week by hosting the world premiere of Eli Roth’s bloody ode to the cannibal exploitation movies of yore, with his misleadingly titled fourth film The Green Inferno. The notoriously lurid and savage films of the 1970s evidently served as Roth’s primary inspiration for his latest playful excavation into the squealing recess of the human body, the elder of which is the infamous Cannibal Holocaust, whose naïve-innocents-abroad plot has been seized and given a contemporary twist here, although the title has been speared from an alternate moniker of 1988′s Natura Contro. This film’s putrid predecessor, Cannibal Holocaust, is one of the few films of the era to have a genuine and cruel edge to its proceedings, a real vibe that you’re risking...

Nicholas Lopez's Aftershock hits theatres this weekend, and we have two different reviews to help you decide whether or not to seek it out and take the ride. What camp will you fall into? Positive or negative?
Read Serena Whitney's positive Aftershock review here.
Read Drew Tinnin's negative Aftershock review here.
Aftershock, an earthquake thriller scripted by Cabin Fever and Hostel's Eli Roth, Nicolas Lopez, and Guillermo Amoedo, revolves around an insane asylum on an island, where the inmates escape during the quake.
It’s the next "Eli Roth Presents" film, and it marks the English-language debut from director Nicolas Lopez. His last two films, Que Pena Tu Vida and Que Pena Tu Boda, were the highest-grossing Chilean films of 2010 and 2011. Roth most recently produced The Last Exorcism, a microbudget film that grossed $70 million worldwide.

After an earth quake erupts off the coastal town of Valparaiso, Chile, a group of travelers in an underground night club must reach the surface and discover it’s just the beginning of their nightmare. Gringo (Eli Roth) and his Chilean buddies Ariel (Ariel Lev) and Pollo (Nicolas Martinez) must help Kylie (Lorenza Izzo) and Monica (Andrea Osvart) escape looters, convicts, and the aftershocks that followed. Directed by Nicolas Lopez, ‘Aftershock’ is inspired by true events and real life stories over the Chilean earthquake that hit the country in 2010.
How does it feel to be living your dream, from directing to writing to acting?
Eli Roth: I feel like I’m getting to live my dream and there’s really no better feeling in the world. I think one of the keys to that is that I’ve taken chances and I’ve never played it safe on anything that I’ve ever done.

Eli Roth let slip yesterday that Aftershock, directed by Nicholas Lopez, is going to make its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September. The film is being added to the Midnight Madness program.
Roth produced and stars in the film which is said to be set on an island where the residents of an insane asylum are set free in the wake of earthquake. The Hostel helmer also co-penned the tale with Guillermo Amoedo and Lopez.

Ever get those moments when you wonder what could have been. Of course we all do. This wasn’t one of those times because that would have instilled hope in anyone reading this that this movie could have been better. Very much like one of its subplots this film was shit. A word of caution, when the enticing offer of free beer is made to all who attend because the director feels that his film is best viewed when you’re drunk that’s a hint how tip top its is going to be. It’s not that being drunk is going to make the movie funnier or more outrageous. I think director Nicholas Lopez is hoping that we got so shit-faced that we would forget the movie we saw. Some will call it unrestrained and ambitious. I call it a mess from start to finish.
