His ancestor, Simon Fraser, 11th Lord Lovat, was executed for treason on April 9, 1747 at Tower Hill (Tower of London), for supporting the Stuart claim to the crown of the United Kingdom (having previously supported the House of Hanover, from which
Queen Elizabeth II is descended).
William Hogarth depicted Lovat in an engraving before Lovat's execution. The peerage Lord Lovat was restored to Thomas Fraser, Fraser's great-grandfather, in 1854. Lovat is a character in
Outlander (2014), played by
Clive Russell.
