Lord Alan Sugar has gone into business with former Apprentice finalist Susan Ma. Ma, who reached the final five on the 2011 series of the BBC One reality show, has earned an investment from Sugar in her skincare company Tropic. "Skincare has always been my passion, right from the early days of mixing and experimenting with new formulas in the kitchen with my mum and selling them in Greenwich market," said Ma. "My time on The Apprentice gave me an incredible opportunity to learn from Lord Sugar and I have applied this knowledge to take Tropic Skincare from my kitchen table to a credible business model. "Having Lord Sugar's investment and guidance to help me launch my new venture has been invaluable and I hope to return his confidence and trust in me by making a real success of Tropic Skin Care." Susan Ma has suggested that some of her Apprentice rivals thought she was an "easy target". The skincare company founder finished third on this year's series behind Helen Milligan and eventual winner Tom Pellereau. Ma told the Evening Standard: "There were times when I was surprised by the way people were speaking to me and by what they were saying. "At certain points people felt that I was an easy target and perhaps easier to get rid of." Ma added that some comments from the other contestants were "hurtful" but said of the Apprentice process: "It brings out the worst side in you. (more)...

Tom Pellereau has reportedly been approached about fronting his own science and technology TV show.
The 31-year-old inventor triumphed over Helen Louise Milligan, Jim Eastwood and Susan Ma on Sunday’s final of BBC’s ‘The Apprentice’and it is thought that TV bosses were impressed by his likeable manner and think he would be perfect for an educational series.
An insider explained: “Executives have been really impressed with the way he came over on TV. He is probably one of the most personable ‘Apprentice’ winners and something of an underdog, which always goes down well with the British public.
“The BBC would love to do more with him. There is definitely a gap in the market.”

Tom Pellereau has admitted that he almost didn’t apply for The Apprentice, becuase he didn’t think he was the type of person Lord Alan Sugar was looking for.
The bespectacled inventor won a £250,000 investment from the Amstrad boss after he triumphed on last night’s final of the BBC show, beating off competition from highly organised Helen Milligan, ‘Jedi’ Jim Eastwood and dopey Susan Ma.
He told The Sun that he only applied for the show on whim, confessing that he almost missed the deadline. Tom explained:
“I heard a radio ad saying applications closed the next day and I just decided to go for it. This was during what was pretty much the worst week of my life. I had split up with my long-term girlfriend and a number of business things were turning quite nasty.

Tom Pellereau has been crowned the winner of The Apprentice 2011. The 31-year-old inventor was chosen by Lord Sugar to become his new business partner over Helen Milligan, while rival finalists Jim Eastwood and Susan Ma were fired earlier tonight after interviews with the entrepreneur's trusted colleagues Claude Littner, Margaret Mountford, Mike Soutar and Matthew Riley. Sugar will now provide a £250,000 investment into Pellereau's business, which aims to reduce the financial and personal costs of employee back pain through specialist chairs. In the final boardroom, Lord Sugar brushed off concerns from his advisors regarding Pellereau's "lack of focus" and "flawed" plan to offer posture checks to office workers, instead noting the potential in his invention of a chair to combat back pain. > 'The Apprentice' complete coverage

Tom Pellareau has become the winner of the 2011 series of The Apprentice.
After Jim Eastwood and Susan Ma were fired, Helen threw the process somewhat by coming back into the boardroom and changed her business plan completely.
She decided to drop her idea to set up a personal reminder company and instead offered to start a chain of bakeries specialising in high end cakes and bread products.
We were worried for Tom at this point, as Helen was obviously pulling out all the big guns to succeed and trying to address Lord Alan’s concerns about her original plan.
However then, mad inventor Tom told a story about how he wooed a massive buyer from American chain Walmart and managed to get a previous product of his stocked in the huge chain and Lord Sugar’s eyes were almost flashing pound signs.

Helen Milligan, Jim Eastwood, Susan Ma and Tom Pellareau were the four candidates who made it through to tonight’s final episode and the hopefuls had a hard time during their tough interviews with Lord Alan Sugar’s business contacts.
None seemed to overly impress the gurus. The panel thought Jim was too full of clichés and bull sh*t, Susan’s numbers didn’t add up, plus she likes a bit of tax evasion, Helen is organised but some felt her business idea lacked potential (Alan Sugar in particular was ‘terribly disappointed’ by her business plan) and Tom is an amazing inventor, but a few of the interviewers thought he lacked the real life business acumen to make a business succeed.

Nick Hewer has tipped Helen Milligan to win the seventh series of The Apprentice. Lord Sugar's aide backed the CEO's assistant to emerge victorious in the BBC reality show tomorrow, provided that she sheds her corporate persona. "[Helen is] a beautiful young woman," Hewer told the Daily Mail. "She's decided she's the ice-cool corporate maid with the bun, but she's a winner - if only she'd undo her hair." However, Hewer said that the final will be a close-fought battle, with 21-year-old Susan Ma facing the biggest struggle to become Lord Sugar's business partner. "So who'll clinch it? If there's a weak one in there I'd say, 'Come back Susan in three or four years and you'd wipe the floor with the rest of them'." He proceeded to defend Ma from complaints (more)...

Natasha said, “I went out and worked from a young age. It’s crazy – but I used to not take the free school meals and instead used the money I earned to pay for my food.”
And her Mum Gillian said, “She shared a bedroom. It was busy at times, but she just got on with it…
“On a council estate it’s leave school, get a job or get pregnant. Tash was doing the opposite to everyone else – she stayed in and studied.”
Gillian added that when Natasha went to university, there was little the family could do to help her financially.

After trying their hand at producing freesheets with dodgy titles and risqué themes in last week's episode of The Apprentice, Lord Sugar decides to send the candidates on a trip for this week's challenge, but it's by no means a holiday. The candidates are given a task which sends them to Paris, where they have to try to sell uniquely British products to French retailers. Lord Sugar appoints Tom Pellereau as Project Manager for Team Logic, as he is the only candidate yet to assume the role. He decides to let Team Venture pick their own leader, prompting Susan Ma to enthusiastically put herself forward. On her usefulness of taking on the role of Pm in a task involving France, she (more)...

Lord Alan Sugar's aide Nick Hewer has blasted the remaining 'Apprentice' contestants. The former PR guru - who advises the businessman along with Karren Brady - hit out at "manipulative and spooky" Jim Eastwood, urged Zoe Beresford to stop sulking, slammed Susan Ma as a liar and described Helen Milligan as lacking in passion. Of Jim he said: "I wish he would stop talking about his Irish charm because I'm finding it a bit spooky. "The incident with Leon in the boardroom showed he is a pretty manipulative character. I personally find him a bit creepy." The 67-year-old expert also urged Leon Doyle to...

Glenn Ward has said that the scenes in the boardroom on The Apprentice are not scripted. The senior design engineer was fired from the show this week and told Broxbourne Scene that he did not do enough to defend himself when up against Jim Eastwood and Susan Ma in the final part of the programme. "The boardroom is not scripted and Karren [Brady] and Nick [Hewer] advise Lord Sugar based on their observations of the task," Ward said. "So you are on your own in the boardroom to make sure you have highlighted everything (more)...

Edna Agbarha became the seventh Apprentice candidate to be fired tonight after failing to impress Lord Sugar in a challenge to make money out of rubbish. Zoe Beresford's Team Venture made a healthy profit of £706, but were forced to return to the boardroom after losing out to Team Logic by only £6. Beresford quickly ran into trouble in the boardroom after claiming that it was Glenn Ward who secured her team's plumbing deals, much to the annoyance of Agbarha and Susan Ma. All three females returned for the final showdown with Lord Sugar and Beresford came under fire for losing control of her emotions and her team. "You lost it, by your own admission you lost it, and I'm pleased that you admitted that you lost it... but there's a limit to how long I'm going to put up with someone telling me, 'I got this wrong, I got that (more...

Gavin Winstanley became the third Apprentice candidate to be fired by Lord Sugar tonight after Project Managing Team Logic's disastrous buying challenge. Lord Sugar challenged Team Logic and Team Venture to buy ten specific and unusual items for a hotel at the lowest possible prices. Susan Ma's Team Venture made several errors and overspent massively on a number of items, but they were saved by the incompetence of the Winstanley-led Logic, who only secured six of the items on the list and were fined accordingly. When the final totals came in, Logic ended up losing out by just £8, but Sugar said that they deserved their defeat as they hadn't found nearly enough of the listed products. "You must be sick," he blasted. "It's a disgrace that you only got six items out of ten. "Gavin, the feedback I got from Karren was that you set (more)...

Susan Ma and Jim Eastwood impress Nick Hewer with their leadership and negotiation skills on tonight's instalment of The Apprentice. Ma, 21, takes the Project Manager role for Team Venture in Lord Sugar's buying challenge, where the candidates must purchase ten items for a posh London hotel at the lowest possible price. The skincare entrepreneur's control over her team and methodical planning catches the eye of Lord Sugar's aide. "Susan is managing some fairly egotistical people. I think she's started very (more)...

Susan Ma
Susan Ma hopes to succeed on this year’s Apprentice series, but if she wants to do well, she perhaps needs to afford a little more respect to show boss, Lord Alan Sugar.
The 21 year old Croydon woman currently runs her own organic skincare company and comes across as a little ditzy in her audition tape below. She was hardly selling her business skills well when she declared:
I’m very happy, easy to talk to, enthusiastic and I’m very easily amused as well.
However, she went on to reveal that she intends to ‘challenge’ multimillionaire Alan Sugar on the new series and said:
I’m not the kind of person to trust your opinion and take it for granted….even if you’re Lord Sugar.
So Lord Sugar I will still challenge what you’re saying and I will still try to make up my own mind.

Not movie related by if you look back on HeyUGuys over the past two and a half years that we’ve been around, you’ll notice that I am rather a big fan of The Apprentice. What could be better than watching 16 of Britain’s ‘brightest’ talents go head to head in a battle of wits and business acumen to become Sir Alan or now, Lord Sugar’s 2011 Apprentice?
Yesterday, there was a launch party for the 2011 series which introduced the world to the 16 contestants and I thought I’d give you a little round up of them all using the audition tapes provided nicely on the BBC website. Turns out I actually know one of them which is going to make this series even more entertaining!
The 2011 series begins next Tuesday, 10th May and I’ll be tuning in for sure! Let us know who you think might win (or who definitely won’t!
