Played Major League Baseball for the New York Giants (1945, 1950-1955),
the Cleveland Indians (1955-1956), the Brooklyn Dodgers (1956-1957),
the New York Yankees (1957-1958) and the St. Louis Cardinals
(1958).
Was selected to the National League All-Star team in 1951 and
1952.
Finished second in Major League Baseball's Cy Young Award balloting in
1956. In 1956, the award is given to the best pitcher in the Major
Leagues.
