Warning: The following contains spoilers for Thursday’s season finale of How to Get Away With Murder.
An early frontrunner has emerged in the race for this year’s Unluckiest TV Character: How to Get Away With Murder‘s poor, poor Laurel Castillo.
Her onetime beau, Frank, went Mia for weeks — and when she tried to get information on his whereabouts, she was forced to sign her life away to her father. She barely survived a house fire that killed her next boyfriend, Wes, and she’s unexpectedly pregnant with his child.

There’s dead, and then there’s “TV dead” — when you don’t actually see the victim’s body or the whole thing was an elaborately staged fakeout or, y’know, “secret twin.”
But make no mistake, the character revealed to be “under the sheet” in Thursday’s How to Get Away With Murder fall finale has most definitely taken his last breath.

Well, we finally know who’s under the sheets on How to Get Away With Murder.

Please note, however, that I said “sheets” plural, not “the sheet” beneath which some unidentified corpse — Frank? Nate? the slap-worthy Mr. Drake? — is in the early stages of rigor mortis during the ABC drama’s flash-forward “Fire Night.”
Allow me, though, to pause here, take a shot of Fireball and praise the TV gods (or at least Htgawm creator Pete Nowalk): “Woohoo! My beloved Connor isn’t covered in Keating-residence soot and ready to retreat to his final resting place!

There is no such thing as “too cruel” in television.
That’s a lesson How to Get Away With Murder creator Pete Nowalk learned from his boss Shonda Rhimes — and applied to his own ABC drama’s Season 2 finale.

Yes, showrunner Pete Nowalk and his deliriously twisted writers are masters of the curveball, but sometimes they zip one straight down the middle as we stand there with our bats over our shoulders, kicking the dirt and cursing our own gullibility.
Which is my roundabout way of trying to comprehend and discuss this week’s #Omghtgawm revelation: Wes’ mother Rose actually committed suicide — just like the police ruled way back in 2006.

This week’s episode of How to Get Away with Murder digs a little deeper into Annalise’s connection to Wes’ mom — which leads to a shocking ending. We start with Wes reading files on Charles Mahoney and trying to make sense of what Annalise dropped off. We go back to 10 year earlier in the restaurant where Annalise is trying to find out what Rose knows from “that night.” The scene is cut into another of Annalise questioning a defendant and trying to see if his story matches up with Rose’s. That way Rose, a cleaning lady, could testify in the trial. … Continue reading →

“Let’s go home. Ohio sucks.”
Oh, if only Annalise or Eve or Rose or even little Christophe had expressed that sentiment in How to Get Away With Murder‘s “10 Years Ago” flashbacks – maybe, just maybe, Wes and his fellow Keating Five cohorts wouldn’t all be worrying about lengthy prison sentences or seven-figure blackmail demands to go along with their crippling student-loan debt.
