Even winning has consequences. Jimmy McGill might have roundly defeated his brother, but in such a tangled, ugly, complex battle his victory was never going to be wholesale, and at the time, considering what he stood to lose, the casualties didn’t seem that bad. A year away from the law, some community service; in theory neither are too bad. But in Vince Gilligan’s Albuquerque things have a way of worsening.
Jimmy struggled for years to becoming a lawyer, and that struggle only deepened once he learned what the brother he did it to impress really thought of his choices. Now Jimmy finds himself doing humiliating tasks...

Gripping, surprising and satisfyingly distinct from Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul season 2 is proving to be must-see television...
This review contains spoilers.
2.6 Bali'Hai
Lying to yourself becomes a lot harder when someone else calls you out on it. It’s even worse when they do it without realising the lengths to which you were going to maintain the façade. And worse still is when that person is the very reason you were working so hard to stick to that fiction.
Jimmy McGill has been uncomfortable at Davis and Main from the moment he first walked through the doors. Initially his seemingly relaxed new workplace looked to be somewhere he could be himself and exercise some autonomy, which led to humiliation and huge trouble. Last week he was reminded by a former associate of just how good he has it, but the look on his face made it...

“Feels like something’s up.”
Using your hour of airtime to tell parallel stories with no point of intersection is a risky proposition. Jimmy and Mike may both feel the pull of older, easier ways of moving and surviving in the world, and they’re both muddling through half-assed attempts at turning over a new leaf, but that’s about where the similarities end. The divergence in tone between the two stories is galactic. Jimmy’s low-key power struggles with Chuck, his seeking out of the path of least resistance, and the volatile marriage of his cowardice and his natural showmanship plays like something out of an early season of Mad Men. Mike’s segment of ‘Amarillo,’ by contrast, is tooth-cracking noir, a washed-out story about a man we know is going to do, and die doing, everything he swears he’ll never go back to. The inevitability inherent in...

A review of tonight's "Better Call Saul" coming up just as soon as I picture "The 25th Hour" starring Ned and Maude Flanders... "What are you doing?" -Mike "The right thing." -Jimmy The consensus on last week's episode was that it was easily the strongest hour of "Saul" to date, and a lot of you stated your desire to see the show pivot more into that direction, not only by giving Jonathan Banks more to do as Mike, but by returning to the dark emotional palette of "Breaking Bad" rather than the light comic antics of Jimmy McGill, elder care lawyer. When I spoke with Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould (and editor Curtis Thurber) about the show's ever-changing opening title sequence, we also briefly discussed the response to "Five-o," and Gilligan said that while they like having the ability to experiment — to do an episode where Mike is now the...

A review of tonight's "Better Call Saul" coming up just as soon as I'm the one with the sex toilet... "I'm on the up-and-up. I will be good." -Jimmy Jimmy spends much of "Alpine Shepherd Boy" trying to find a professional niche, and the episode itself feels like the "Better Call Saul" creative team is still figuring out what exactly the series is, beyond a showcase for Bob Odenkirk and a chance to bring so much of the "Breaking Bad" team together again. Like the series' second episode, the hour is made up of a bunch of interesting individual pieces that don't entirely feel like part of the same whole. After a prologue detailing the immediate, traumatic aftermath of Chuck's sprint to steal his neighbor's newspaper, we spend a long time on Jimmy trying to cash in on the notoriety that came with his billboard "heroics," then get an...

Chris and Norma
First up were the seemingly happy and loved-up twosome 36-year-old Chris and his 68-year-old wife Norma, who was so heavily made-up she looked like she'd just been shot in the face with Homer Simpson's make-up gun. But despite all this, Chris somehow managed to look older.
The pair's love story began at a Butlins when Chris was just 18 and Norma 50. Although their relationship was frowned upon by friends and family, the couple married three years later - to "Titanic on the way up and Martine McCutcheon's 'Perfect Moment' on the way down" - and recently renewed their vows after almost two decades together.
We then followed Chris on his quest to become a successful music producer,...

Inanimate objects often wriggle their way into horror films. We’ve seen porcelain dolls slaughter naïve victims. We’ve seen video game characters decimate the unsuspecting. And, perhaps the most lifeless menace to brutalize fleeing victims, the evil vehicle.
Four wheels (in most cases) designed to do nothing but obliterate mankind. It’s a petrifying thought when you consider all the deranged drivers behind the wheel these days. Really, how many fatal road rage incidents occur on an annual basis?
And that’s precisely the reason that killer car movies are infinitely more frightening than any other pic focused in on insensible, pulseless antagonists. We know that cars, trucks and motorcycles (this one doesn’t earn mention in this particular article, but look into Rage, a really entertaining indie moto-flick) can lead to instantaneous expiration. We understand that, be it a legitimate malfunction, a drunken fool or a crazed driver behind the wheel,...

Scream Factory, ever busy preserving horror’s cinematic legacy, recently released another pair of cult classics on Blu-ray, The Beast Within and Crawlspace. Today, we have another double review taking a look back at these two often overlooked genre films.
The Beast Within: The Beast Within is the first theatrical screenplay by now genre vet, Tom Holland (Fright Night, Child’s Play). It follows a sickly 17-year-old named Michael MacCleary (Paul Clemens), who, as it turns out, has the misfortune of being the offspring of a violent encounter between a murderous swamp beast and his mother (Bibi Besch). And as Michael begins awkwardly transitioning into a man on the eve of his 18th birthday, he’s also forced to deal with the terrifying evil growing inside that he must overcome. Because, if he doesn’t face his true nature, Michael may forever be lost to his swamp beast lurking...

Mick recently impersonated Steven on 'SNL,' but the 'Idol' judge told HollywoodLife.com he was Not impressed! Mick Jagger may have the moves, but he doesn't have the howl -- well, at least according to Steven Tyler. In a skit during the May 19 episode of Saturday Night Live titled "So You Think You Can Dance At An Outdoor Music Festival," Mick gave a spot-on impression of the Aerosmith frontman and reality competition judge. Wearing a long Tyler-esque wig, a loud jacket and a scarf around his neck, Mick may have captured Steven's style, but not his iconic howl. "Ohhh, they got it so wrong; He could have done the yeah yeah yeah!," Steven told HollywoodLife.com, among other reporters May 23 after the American Idol finale. "I thought he looked good with long hair, I've always wanted him to grow it back." In a subtle dig at...

The CW sent over One Tree Hill teasers for fans marching through the Oth final season, allowing us to over a clip and tv promo for next week’s episode, titled “Every Breath is a Bomb” (airing March 7th). The shorter tv tease focuses on Sophia Bush and Austin Nichols dealing with a problem, while the longer clip deals with Clay and Quinn. This week we also got the news that One Tree Hill’s finale, set for April 4, will be part of what is being described as “a two-hour event”, which will also include some visits from special guests and a look back at the Oth’s most memorable moments. Sounds like it will offer a little closure for the loyal fans.
Along with the clips below, we have the official episode summary for ”Every Breath is a Bomb”.
Brooke (Sophia Bush) and Julian (Austin Nichols) take new measures to protect their family.

Over the summer, Zap2it was the first to tell you that Tyler Hilton was returning to "One Tree Hill" as the always controversial Chris Keller... and now we've got the first pic of a new, matured, more sophisticated Chris Keller in Season 9.
Okay, so we're lying about the maturity thing. Chris Keller returns in the season premiere in a flurry of juvenile jokes, and we promise, you'll feel like he never left. (And, more importantly, you'll wish he'd never left!)
First thing is first: Don't worry, Keller isn't in town to break up Haley and Nathan. We visited the Wilmington, Nc set in September and got the scoop from Hilton himself. "When [news broke] that I was coming back, everybody was like 'So excited! So excited! If you break up Nathan and Haley I'm going to kill you,'" he jokes. "I was hoping for a nanny position in the family.

It's hard to believe there was ever a Video Music Awards without Britney Spears. Her iconic performances and eye-popping getups make her a perfect match for the outsized and outrageous Vma stage.
Britney herself told us that her bombshell kiss with Madonna in 2003 is her favorite Vma moment. "My greatest experience -- probably being with Madonna," she told MTV News. "The kiss was amazing. ... Being onstage with someone of that caliber is just iconic."
See Britney's biggest Vma moments for yourself in these photos.
But Spears certainly has a long list to choose from. And with that track record, it's no surprise that this year's VMAs will pay tribute to Britney. Let's dive into the...

Earlier this week I headed on down to The Berkeley Hotel in London for the UK press conference for Public Enemies. Attending the press conference were Academy Award® winner Marion Cotillard, director Michael Mann and John Dillinger himself - Johnny Depp. The three all interviewed separately, presumably ensuring they all get adequate time to answer any questions.
For those who haven’t yet read the reviews, John Dillinger was a legendary Chicago bank robber from Depression-era America. The man remains a folk hero to the people, and at the time was a thorn in the side of the fledgling Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Marion opened the press conference by telling us what attracted her to working with Michael Mann:
Q: After La Vie En Rose, you must have been inundated with offers for other films. So why did you choose to go with Public Enemies?
