Daniels leads the ensemble as Taylor Pherry (his P is silent), an ambitious young man given a holy mission from God Himself: to tell his family’s stories and inspire his community. What he doesn’t know is that the Devil has plans of his own. Foxx plays God, with Rourke as The Devil, in the film directed by Johnny Mack.

Vachik Mangassarian, known for his work in “NCIS,” “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” and more, has died. He was 78. A rep for Mangassarian told the Hollywood Reporter he died in Burbank, Calif. from Covid-19 complications.
On “NCIS,” he played a fake Iranian president and on “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” he played a cleric. His other TV credits include “The Mentalist,” “Jag,” “NYPD Blue,” “Beauty and the Beast” and “Falcon Crest.”
The Iran-born Armenian actor moved to the United States at age 23 and worked as a waiter in Los Angeles while immersing himself into the entertainment scene. Mangassarian then landed his first film role for “The South’s Shark” in 1978.

Dwf:la’s 2020 lineup has more than 200 titles, including narrative features, documentaries, pilots, web series, music videos, short films, and films by young people. The entire festival, running Thursday August 27 through Sunday September 6, will be in real time, allowing interactive experiences, including a virtual red carpet, lounges with trivia nights and signature cocktails, panel discussions, and Q&a sessions.

Silent Hill and The Shack actress Radha Mitchell will lead the cast of The World Without You, a feature adaptation of Joshua Henkin’s novel.
Marking the directing debut of Damon Shalit, the novel has been adapted by screenwriter Dan Pulick. The plot explores how a family cope with the death of a son, a journalist killed on assignment in Iraq.
Shalit produces with Bradley LaRocco and Charles Mudd for Sb Productions. Mitchell will star and serve as an executive producer. Valerie McCaffrey is casting director.
The cast is rounded out by Chris Mulkey (Captain Phillips), Perrey Reeves (Famous In Love), James Tupper (Big Little Lies), Pj Byrne (Wolf Of Wall Street), Annika Marks (Anguish), Lyndie Greenwood (Sleepy Hollow), Lynn Cohen (Hunger Games), and Suzanne C. Johnson (Empty Space).

Teri Polo is set and Dean Cain and Jay Thomas are in final negotiations to play leads in the ensemble film Material Lies for Starr Light Prods.
Katherine Starr will write and direct. Cain will play struggling actor Josh, who upon learning that he has leukemia arranges a weekend reunion of his former college friends, including his former sweetheart Ginni (Polo), with whom he hopes to reconcile. He plans to portray himself as wealthy and successful, and Frank (Thomas) agrees to help.

He plans to portray himself as wealthy and successful, and Frank (Thomas) agrees to help.
Production is slated to begin in June in Malibu.

Ron Perlman isn't done with hell quite yet. The star of Sony Pictures/Revolution Studios' Hellboy has been cast as the leader of a detention center for juvenile delinquents in the upcoming indie feature Coldwater. To be helmed by music video director Sean Michael Beyer, the film is described as a fictional story based on the reality of juvenile boot camps, where the punishment is often much greater than the crime. Perlman will play the charming but sadistic ranch leader, "The Colonel" Morris Timberland, in the indie drama, which was written by Mark Penney and Vincent Grashaw. Coldwater is being produced by Steve Eggleston, Valerie McCaffrey and Peter Rafelson. Filming is scheduled to begin June 1 in rural Northern California. Coldwater is a One Roof Entertainment/Blue Raven Films/Rafelson Media Project production. Perlman is repped by Fenton/Kritzer Entertainment.

Dahmer star Jeremy Renner has been cast in the title role of the indie feature Neo Ned, with Gabrielle Union as the female lead. Van Fischer, who directed Artisan Entertainment's Blink of an Eye, is directing the project, which is expected to go into production at end of the month in Los Angeles. Written by Wentworth Baughn, Neo Ned is about a troubled young man (Renner) belonging to the Aryan Brotherhood who, while a patient in a psychiatric hospital, falls in love with a fellow patient, a young black mother (Union) who thinks she is possessed by the spirit of Adolf Hitler. Valerie McCaffrey is producing the project, which is being funded through private equity. Renner, repped by WMA, Untitled Entertainment and Nelson-Felker, was nominated for a best actor Independent Spirit Award for Dahmer. He next stars in Columbia Pictures' S.W.A.T.. Union, repped by WMA, Jeff Morrone at Anonymous Content and attorney Michael Fuller, most recently starred in Cradle 2 the Grave and Deliver Us From Eva. She next stars in Bad Boys II and The Break Up Handbook.
