The CW is taking a new stab at developing Dr. Mirage, a drama series adaptation of the Valiant graphic novel, with Reign co-creator Laurie McCarthy, Dmg Entertainment and CBS Television Studios.
Dr. Mirage is based on the graphic novel about a female paranormal investigator who can communicate with dead souls except the one she wants to reach – the love of her life.
The project was previously in development at the CW during the 2016-17 season with Annabelle scribe Gary Dauberman writing and Dmg Entertainment and CBS Studios producing.
It is now being redeveloped, with McCarthy writing the adaptation based on Dauberman’s initial script.
McCarthy executive produces with Dan Mintz, founder and CEO of Dmg Entertainment and Dmg’s Chris Cowles. CBS TV Studios is the studio.
McCarthy co-created drama series Reign, which aired for four seasons on the CW and also was produced by CBS Studios.

Reign has found its Queen Elizabeth. Lost Girl alum and Fifty Shades of Grey actress Rachel Skarsten has been cast to play the iconic figure on The CW series, who will first appear in the Season 2 finale before becoming a series regular in Season 3. The Hollywood Reporter broke the casting news earlier today. “The character of Elizabeth, Queen of England, the only living child of Henry VIII and the murdered Ann Boleyn, looms over Mary Queen of Scots for the duration of her life,” Reign executive producer Laurie McCarthy said to The Hollywood Reporter. “Elizabeth has also, without ever stepping onto our stage, loomed over our first two seasons as a forceful and intriguing presence. I have been dying to introduce her to our characters and our audience. Because no single character understands Mary’s unique circumstances more. No character is more of a threat to her happiness and her life.

Mary and Catherine, the favorite head-clashing duo is out of the castle and into the woods on this week's Reign episode "Three Queens." After a carriage attack, the pair escape and are forced into servitude in exchange for food, where they pretend to be mother and daughter. How ironic.
Executive Producers Doris Egan and Laurie McCarthy sound off explaining that the idea for this episode comes from a more fun-loving place: "It's just been so dark and tense and it's just so hard to, you know, be Mary...and it's time for them to have some fun." Well said. We're more than ready for some screen time with this pair.

Reign, Season 2: Episode 4 – “The Lamb and the Slaughter”
Written by Laurie McCarthy & Adele Lim
Directed by Sudz Sutherland
Airs Thursday nights at 9 on The CW
It was this time a couple weeks ago when it didn’t look like Reign was very interested in following through on some of the drastic effects that its plague epidemic introduced to both the castle grounds and the world. But rather than shirking the long-term trauma of it all, “The Lamb and the Slaughter” confidently shows what a thing like the plague does to the characters in this series.
For one, the promises of reckoning and lingering spirits are beginning to spill over into the action at an almost startling level. Reign hasn’t shied away from these elements before, but even former queen Catherine has a disturbing encounter with the ghosts of two little girls an episode after we see proof that...

Reign, Season 2: Episode 1 – “The Plague”
Written by Laurie McCarthy
Directed by Fred Gerber
Airs Thursday nights at 9 on The CW
Welcome back to Reign, in which narrative burns quicker than the fires lighting the royal hall. This is one way to kick off a season. Many series opt for the easy re-introduction into the shows’ worlds and stories. “The Plague” has its “Previously on Reign…” segment and that’s that. Did you miss last season? Well, good luck catching up on all the gossip. Really, though, the pleasures of Reign don’t require a full comprehension of its history. The fun is all there to be had in the moment, and “The Plague” is anything but short on entertainment.
Last season left us with two major events to think about: the king is dead and the plague has returned. The consequences of both are addressed in “The Plague” in somewhat surprising ways.

The CW's “Reign” returns for its second season on Thursday, and executive producer Laurie McCarthy and star Adelaide Kane were eager to spill some secrets about what's ahead for Mary, Queen of Scots. Season 1 of “Reign” left off on quite a cliffhanger as Francis (Toby Regbo) secretly killed his father and became the new King of France. He then promptly left his castle and his queen to tend to her best friend Lola (Anna Popplewell), who was about to give birth to his child. All this as a resurgence of the Black Plague was heading towards France, leaving Mary...

“Reign” executive producer Laurie McCarthy made a pivotal course correction on Season 1 that many critics and fans felt majorly improved the show. McCarthy decided to squash the ongoing love triangle between Mary (Adelaide Kane); her fiance, Prince Francis (Toby Regbo) and his illegitimate brother, Bash (Torrance Coombs). “I do like when two people move on,” McCarthy said during the show's panel at San Diego Comic-Con on Thursday. “And Mary and Francis were wed…” Also read: ‘Reign’ Star Torrance Coombs: ‘It's Weird Trying to Have Sex With Somebody and Not Thrust’ (Video) Kane said that she felt the whole love triangle tool in shows.
