"The "Bat-Man", a mysterious and adventurous figure, fighting for righteousness and apprehending the wrong doer, in his lone battle against the evil forces of society... His identity remains unknown."
Those exciting words started off a story in Detective Comics Issue number 27 in May of 1939, and the world was introduced to one of the most well-known and most recognized superheroes - The Bat-Man, as he was first called. National Comics (now DC Comics) was enjoying comic sales due to Joe Shuster and Jerry Siegel's latest creation, Superman, and they were in the market for another caped crusader. Created by Bob Kane, he was little more than crude sketches until Bill Finger gave some suggestions that would make him iconic: The bat cowl, the color of the costume (Kane originally planned on having Batman wear a red union suit with black trunks and cape), and putting gloves on the hero.

Set to hit the shelves on May 3rd 2014, DC Entertainment has announced that the first edition of their new series The New 52: Future’s End will be released to coincide with Free Comic Book Day. The weekly publication will start with a special #0 edition, to be followed by a regular #1 edition later in the month.
It’s been less than 3 years since DC rebooted its superhero universe as the New 52, but the publishers clearly think it’s time that the history and the future of the Universe are explored. According to DC Entertainment’s press release, Future’s End will be set five years into the future of the current universe but will span multiple time periods and also focus on the past and present. The title is packed with creative writing talent with Jeff Lemire, Keith Giffen, Dan Jurgens and Brian Azzarello all contributing, and in true DC...

VMan magazine had the fine idea of Peter Parker Tobey Maguire grilling Peter Parker Andrew Garfield on donning the Spider-Man duds. Superheroes already know from dual personas so this idea is not just right but it's hey hey. Amusing interview and I thought we should discuss the best bit.

On Andrew's first time seeing Tobey's movie:
Ag Very much so. Peter Parker is such a positive character—he's pure wish fulfillment, an underdog. I grew so much from him when I was a kid, from the comics all the way up to the first movie you were in. I was 19 when I saw [Spider-Man]. I got a pirated dvd at portobello Market with my friend Terry Mcguiness, and we went back to my skanky apartment in North London and we watched it twice in a row and then practiced your final line in the mirror!

I admit to being leery when Warner Animation announced their plans to follow the amazing Batman the Animated Adventures with a next generation hero called Batman Beyond. After all, it was a clear departure from the source material and there was no knowing how this would work.
As it turns out, there was little to fear. The series, which ran from January 1999 through December 2001, honored the past and showed us a future Gotham City that still needed a Dark Knight. Rather than just add wrinkles and gray hair to all the familiar figures, things have changed. Dick Grayson seems to be gone, Alfred and Jim Gordon are dead with Barbara Gordon now the police commissioner. And sitting in the gloom of Wayne Mansion is a still-angry, infirm Bruce Wayne.
He knows there’s work to be done and in time, targets teenager Terry McGuinness as his successor. The youth has...
