The cast of Warner Bros. Pictures’ Blue Beetle has increased by one, with pop star Becky G signing on to provide the voice of Khaji-Da. The studio’s official casting announcement included the following description of Khaji-Da:
“In the film, Khaji-Da is a beautiful relic of ancient alien biotechnology. The palm-sized obsidian-like Scarab is one of the most powerful artifacts in the universe, pulsing with iridescent streaks of bluish and purple. Jaime comes across it quite by accident, but once it has chosen him as a host, the Scarab bestows Jaime with a suit that is both organic and technological, and a symbiotic connection transforms the college grad into the almighty Super Hero Blue Beetle.”
Becky G (Rebbeca Marie Gomez) is the latest addition to a cast that is led by Cobra Kai‘s Xolo Maridueña in the titular role. The comic book-inspired film also stars Adriana Barraza (Rambo: Last Blood) as Jaime’s grandmother,...

James Wan’s unstoppable and fun DC Super Hero adventure Aquaman has the #1 position in the world four weeks in a row internationally and the top spot for three weeks in North America – and has now passed the $1 billion mark around the globe. Warner Bros. Pictures’ film crossed that mark in just over one month since it reigned supreme in its first market, China. The announcement was made by Ron Sanders, President of Worldwide Distribution, Warner Bros. Pictures Group and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment.
What makes it so great – the epic score from Rupert Gregson-Williams. Check it out Here.
“We’re thrilled audiences around the world have embraced ‘Aquaman’ in such a big, big way,” said Sanders. “Jason, the filmmakers and the team at DC have delivered a film that people love, and we are so appreciative of their support.”

One of the best things about Aquaman was the stunning visual effects. The movie was just beautiful to look at. I think the VFX work is easily the best of the year. So it’s surprising to learn that the film didn’t make the Oscars short list of VFX nominees.
When Wan saw that the movie was not on the list, he praised the film’s visual effects supervisor Kelvin McIlwain and slammed the Academy for not recognizing the film, saying:
“You and your department are the unsung heroes of this film. The fact that your VFX peers in the Academy aren’t recognizing or appreciating what we/you’ve all contributed to the film and cinema is a fucking disgrace.”
It really is, especially considering some of the films that did make this list. The current short list of films in the running for best VFX work includes:...

When Oscar nominations are announced Tuesday, January 22, “Aquaman” will not be one of the five nominees for Best Visual Effects. The Academy released its official VFX shortlist on December 21 and Warner Bros.’ Dceu tentpole did not make one of the 10 final contention slots. While movies like “First Man,” “Avengers: Infinity War,” and “Black Panther” are still in the running, “Aquaman” is not and director James Wan isn’t thrilled.
Responding to a comment on Facebook made by “Aquaman” visual effects supervisor Kelvin McIlwain (via The Wrap), Wan made his opinion on being left off the VFX Oscar shortlist clear: “Kelvin, you and your department are the unsung heroes of this film. The fact that your VFX peers in the Academy aren’t recognizing or appreciating what we/you’ve all contributed to the film and cinema is a fucking disgrace.”
“I’m with you James,” McIlwain replied. “It was a...

When it comes to awards season potential, the new Aquaman movie isn’t exactly Black Panther, but it still came as a surprise to learn that the feature hadn’t made the Oscar shortlist for Best Visual Effects after an abundance of fans, critics and industry insiders had offered kind words on the underwater spectacle of the Dceu’s latest release.
As it turns out, director James Wan isn’t too pleased himself to see that the efforts of his FX team haven’t been recognized, and in a Facebook message responding to Aquaman visual effects supervisor Kelvin McIlwain, the filmmaker slammed the Academy for their oversight:

“Aquaman” director James Wan has lashed at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for snubbing the superhero film when it was not listed among the 10 semi-finalists in the visual effects category, calling it “a f–king disgrace.”

Outside of Justice League footage and the photos released of Jason Mamoa grimacing, we haven't seen a lot regarding Aquaman. Today just a little more on the film has been released as it starts shooting. Warner Bros. sent out a press release which included the title card for the DC superhero film, and it kinda looks like a warped Star Trek logo. Compared to past Aquaman logos, it's definitely a bit more rigid than past incarnations and looks a whole lot less like an A, which is the original intention behind the logo. Check the press release below and share your thoughts.
