Superhero outfits have had an interesting history on the big screen. In some cases, like Superman or Spider-Man, the filmmakers opted to give him a look pretty close to what we see in the comic books. There are some heroes, however, who haven’t always resembled their comic book counterpart all too well — especially in the ensemble department. If you look at the original X-Men film back in 2000, for example, those dudes looked like they were pulled straight out of The Matrix. Leather outfits? That just screams cool, doesn’t it? They even went so far as to make fun of Wolverine’s trademark yellow spandex.
Yet ironically enough, in the time since then, superhero outfits on the big screen have inched closer and closer to their comic book counterparts. Just have a look: Captain America, Thor, Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, even the X-Men themselves in Apocalypse look as though...

It’s getting harder and harder to get audiences out to the theaters. That’s a fact. Decades ago, heading to the theater was the only way to get your silver screen fix. Even with the advent of VHS, there was nothing quite like heading to your local box office and checking out the latest tentpole flick. However, in the past ten years or so, with the proliferation of HDTVs, surround sound systems, and streaming content, studios have to work harder than ever to get butts in seats.
3D seemed to be the next big thing, and indeed it certainly has had some staying power in movie theaters since it was recently re-introduced to consumers (for better or worse). However, one less gimmicky way to get audiences to leave their homes has also come in the form of IMAX. Not only are these screens bigger than your average screen, but...

Highly respected producer worked on Joanna Hogg’s Archipelago and Sally El Hosaini’s My Brother the Devil.
British producer Gayle Griffiths has died following a battle with cancer. She was 49.
Griffiths, who died on Friday (Oct 23) in London, was perhaps best known for producing Joanna Hogg films Archipelago (2010) and Exhibition (2013), which both starred Tom Hiddleston, as well as urban drama My Brother The Devil (2012).
Sally El Hosani, director of My Brother The Devil, wrote on Facebook: “I can honestly say that the film wouldn’t have been what it was without her input and wisdom. She had real vision and believed in the film when many others in the industry didn’t. She was a fighter with a truly generous heart and empathy for the underdog.
“She was never one to make a fuss about her health and all through the filming of My Brother The Devil nobody would have guessed she was also having cancer...

“Against the Tide” is a remarkable documentary that shows how two larger than life men in the college sports world absorbed and understood the social changes of the times, and created a culture of acceptance in the lily white SEC Crimson Tide: University of Alabama. The documentary is laced with fantastic interviews and tales of a landmark football game that broke down the segregated Crimson Tide team, yet this filmed effort is hardly anti-Alabama. It presents the program and these two men, legendary coaches USC coach John McKay and Bama's coach Paul “Bear” Bryant, in a respectful light. The title of this film is a summation of how Bear Bryant quietly sold the idea of an integrated University of...

I seem to be in the minority when I say that 2008’s Death Race was a complete and utter waste of time, however somebody must have been listening, as the completely unwarranted sequel appears to be heading straight for a bargain bin near you!
Death Race 2, a completely unnecessary prequel to the original film (which starred Jason Statham) has an ok cast by all accounts. Starring Luke Goss, Ving Rhames and Sean Bean, the film is directed by Roel Reiné and has already begun principal photography. Check out the official press release below for more:
Start your engines…and load your weapons. The explosive, all-new high-octane Death Race 2 began principal photography on February 13, 2010 in Cape Town, South Africa. The spectacular prequel to Paul W.S. Anderson’s audacious re-imagining of the Roger Corman cult classic stars Luke Goss (Hellboy 2: The Golden Army), Ving Rhames (Con Air, Pulp Fiction), Sean Bean (National Treasure,...

Death Race with Jason Statham was ok. I was hoping for a Cannonball Run type movie where the participants Had to go out of their way to run over people like in the original for points. Instead we got a bunch of dudes racing around in a prison yard. But it was still pretty action packed for what we were given. Here's to hoping the prequel goes the way of the original. Universal has more on Death Race 2:Start your engines…and load your weapons.
