Patrick Mahomes and Brock Purdy aren’t the only ones who are likely to be feeling intense pressure on Super Bowl Sunday.
Nate Burleson will be just as busy this weekend as the quarterbacks for the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers. He is part of CBS’ “NFL Today” pre-game show. He will be helping to call the game for younger audiences as part of a Super Bowl simulcast on Nickelodeon, the kids-cable network that is, like CBS, owned by Paramount Global. And no matter how he fares in those programs, he must be ready to go again just hours later when he takes part in his regular job at “CBS Mornings.” After a full day of Sunday-night sportscasting, Burleson will have to be up and ready well before 4 a.m. Pacific Time.

In the leadup to Super Bowl Lviii, Nickelodeon plans another alternate telecast on Christmas Day at a game in Las Vegas. The Super Bowl is getting slimed.
CBS Sports and Nickelodeon will produce a second telecast of Super Bowl Lviii in February 2024, bringing its kid-focused coverage and green ooze in tow. The Nick telecast will mark the first time a Super Bowl has had an alternate presentation; CBS, Nick’s Paramount Global sibling, will carry the main broadcast.
While it’s a big step up from the previous games Nick has aired, the alternate telecast isn’t new. Nickelodeon has provided alternate feeds of wild-card playoff games after the 2020 and 2021 seasons and a Christmas Day regular-season game last year — the latter of which produced a viral moment of SpongeBob character Patrick Star (voiced by Bil Fagerbakke) roasting Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson after an interception. Nick also airs a weekly highlights show, NFL Slimetime, during the season, and another Christmas game is on tap for the coming season.

Nickelodeon has revealed the stage for its upcoming Kids’ Choice Awards, and The Hollywood Reporter has an exclusive first look.
“Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards is a mashup of everything across all of entertainment that kids love, so for the stage, we’re not relying on a standard proscenium view because there’s nothing standard about this show,” said Paul J. Medford added that the aim is to make viewers feel immersed in the show.
“We’re also utilizing the whole stage in a 360 degree-way to create and convey an immersive experience for the audience at home as well as at the venue,” Medford said.

Joe Biden has been declared the winner of Nickelodeon’s “Kid’s Vote,” but not before a group of internet users attempted to steal the mock election — because of course they did.
According to Nick, the cheating was first detected on Wednesday, Oct. 21, when “threads on online forums began discussing corrupting the Kids Pick the President site with fraudulent votes.” More than 130,000 fake votes were detected and removed from the final tally.
Despite the election tampering, Joe Biden was declared the winner of the “Kid’s Vote” poll with 53% percent of the 90,000 ballots cast going in his favor. Incumbent Donald Trump received 47% of the vote.

Nickelodeon has ordered two virtually produced interactive series — pop culture talk show Group Chat: The Show, hosted by Side Hustle stars Annie LeBlanc and Jayden Bartels, and celebrity game show Game Face (working titles), both for premiere this summer.
Led by LeBlanc and Bartels, the six-episode Group Chat: The Show also will feature Hayley LeBlanc (Mani), along with fan-favorite stars, as they talk about the hottest trend topics of the week based on what kids are currently discussing across social media, play games and compete in challenges–all via video chat. It’s set to premiere Saturday, May 23 at 8:30 pm Et/Pt.
In the six-episode Game Face, celebrities’ true identities are hidden behind an animated filter and voice changer, while a star-studded panel is given wacky clues and competes to decipher the mystery guest. Viewers can participate by downloading the show’s filters to transform into the same characters as their favorite celebrities.

Nickelodeon has given the green light to two new remotely produced unscripted series set to air this summer, the kids network announced Wednesday.
The pop culture talk show “Group Chat: The Show” will be first to debut on May 23, followed by the celebrity guessing game show “Game Face” on June 13.
“‘Group Chat: The Show’ and ‘Game Face’ will bring together kids’ favorite celebrities and topics in a format meant to live across all Nickelodeon screens,” said Ashley Kaplan, senior vice president, Digital Studios. “The virtual filming of these shows will provide the fun escape kids crave, but also let them know that we understand what they’re going through and are listening to what they have to say.”

Tom Kenny again lives under the sea, though perhaps adjacent to a pineapple this time. The voice of the beloved cartoon character SpongeBob Squarepants has joined Nickelodeon’s upcoming “The SpongeBob Musical: Live on Stage!”
He’s not taking on his usual role, however — the titular one played on Broadway by Ethan Slater, who will reprise that role for the now-scheduled Dec. 7 Nick event, which starts at 7 p.m. Et/Pt.
Kenny is joining the stage company as Patchy the Pirate. He’ll perform an original Sara Bareilles song, “Poor Pirates.” The whole thing was filmed for television in front of a live theater audience.

It's 40 years since Multi-Coloured Swap Shop made its television debut and kick-started the Saturday morning kids' TV slot...
Imagine the excitement - it's just before 9.30am on Saturday 2nd October 1976. It's almost like Christmas has come early, such is the anticipation. The nation's kids, who hitherto got their kicks at the Saturday morning pictures, settle in front of their television screens and press the button marked 'BBC1'. Those who read their parents' Radio Times know a new show is about to start with Radio 1 Breakfast Show DJ Noel Edmonds at the helm. 28 year old Noel is cool and down with the kids. Tom Baker and Elisabeth Sladen - the Doctor and Sarah Jane from Doctor Who - are to be the first star guests, and you can actually speak to them live by telephone! The TV set warms up and the familiar blue and yellow BBC...

Den Of Geek raises a glass to some lesser-known soap star pop singles, from Coronation Street to Neighbours and more...
“Do you remember the guy who played that guy in that thing? His song was good wasn't it?”
The above is an example of a conversation regularly heard in our house. The only variants are that sometimes it was 'that girl from that thing', and a lot of the time the song was far from good.
Well sod it – I think we as a nation need to have more discussions about Craig McLachlan and Stefan Dennis. It's the only way our society will grow. So here are 12 songs from Soapland that weren't done by Kylie, Jason, or Kylie and Jason.

Roald Dahl's Charlie And The Chocolate Factory has turned into a big West End musical, courtesy of Sam Mendes. Here's our review...
Roald Dahl's classic book, Charlie And The Chocolate Factory, has found its way to cinema screens twice thus far. Neither version was entirely faithful to Dahl's text, with liberties taken in different places. Arguably the least faithful, Mel Stuart's 1971 Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory is comfortably the most loved, with Gene Wilder's dark portrayal of the title role rightly revered. It was surprising, therefore, just how much Tim Burton's more recent take on the material managed to miss the mark, with a far kookier Willy Wonka, in the guise of Johnny Depp.
It seems a fair bet that the new stage Wonka, Douglas Hodge, has seen both these films. And, much like the new stage musical take on Dahl's book,...

Sketches of the upcoming Charlie and the Chocolate Factory musical's costumes have been revealed for the first time.
Set and costume designer Mark Thompson told Vogue: "Costume design sketches aren't usually something I do, but it was actually really nice to work with children. There are certain requirements of any costume - the cast members need to be able to dance easily. Things are altered as rehearsals go on."
See the drawings of Charlie and Grandpa Joe, along with the Gloop, the Bucket, the Teevee and the Salt families, below.
The West End musical, directed by Academy Award® winner Sam Mendes, will star Olivier and Tony Award-winning Douglas Hodge as Willy Wonka and the cast will also include Nigel Planer as Grandpa Joe, Clive Carter as Mr Salt, Jasna Ivir as Mrs Gloop, Paul J Medford as Mr Beauregarde, Iris Roberts as Mrs Teavee and Myra Sands as Grandma Georgina.
