Core business is a phrase that got familiar with the arrival of corporate houses in the film business. Which is to say, they would stick to the business they came to do and know it better, rather than branch out into other businesses that may look lucrative but you knew little about.

When Ashok Mehta passed away suddenly on August 15, he left behind a gorgeous legacy. Film critic Khalid Mohamed was been busy piecing together the complicated pieces of Mehta's accomplishment in a documentary when the cinematographer passed away.
And now, when Mehta is gone and the documentary remains unfinished, Farah Khan who is closely associated with the project, is more determined than ever to make sure the documentary is released.
Speaking about her involvement with this ambitious documentary, Farah says, "It started off simply enough when Khalid Mohamed told me he was making a documentary on Ashok Mehta. Since I knew Ashok very closely, he suggested I interview him for the documentary. I happily trudged to Ashok's home to spend one evening with him. Little did I know that was just the beginning."
That one enlightening session with Ashok turned for Farah into a preamble for many such sessions spent with the man who re-defined cinematography.

Towards a Better Image : Cinematographers’ combine and Indian Society of Cinematographers Hold Industry Standardization Conference (in collaboration with American Society of Cinematographers and Producers Guild of America)
With the advent of new age ultra High Definition video cameras that capture film quality images on high buffer memory and save them on high capacity chip, our traditional ideas about filmmaking and post-production workflow received a very big jerk in the new millennium. Film (ie, celluloid) never failed to retain a mystery to the casual worker in the industry, and even to its most veteran producers. Cinematographers were part of this mystery as they were actively involved in its creation. The reason was (and still is) you never exactly know how the image is finally going to appear on the big screen until you process the exposed film stock and print it. The total stage of production was heavily biased to its dedicated practitioners – specially cinematographers.
