Kamel Mekesser

Kamel Mekesser is an Algerian sound engineer, graduated from INA, TDF, CIFAP. He has also been a trainer for more than thirty years at the Algerian television training institute.
During the 1970s, Kamel Mekesser was a science student and an assiduous film buff at the Cinémathèque Algérienne. Via a call for competitions published in an ad, he joined the Radiodiffusion Télévision Algérienne (RTA) and will be oriented towards the "acoustic physics" course thanks to his prior school background in physics and mathematics. Sound will then become his passion, his profession, his life. After 2 years of training, barely out, he was sent to Egypt in 1976 on the set of Youssef Chahine's feature film "The Return of the Prodigal Child" where the latter was amazed to discover the working method and the recording equipment. recovered by Kamel Mekesser, including the Nagra 4.2 tape recorder and Bayer M160 microphones, a first in Egypt.
Renowned for the rigor, precision and finesse of his work, Kamel Mekesser will be sound engineer on more than sixty Algerian, Egyptian, Moroccan, French and international feature films.
