In 18th-century Denmark, Captain Ludvig Kahlen (Mads Mikkelsen)—a proud, ambitious, but impoverished war hero—sets out to tame a vast, uninhabitable land on which seemingly nothing can grow. He seeks to start farming crops, build a colony in the name of the King, and gain a noble title for himself. This beautiful but forbidding area also happens to be under the rule of the merciless Frederik De Schinkel, a preening nobleman who realizes the threat Kahlen represents to his power. Struggling against the elements and local brigands, Kahlen is joined by a couple who have fled the clutches of the rapacious De Schinkel. As this group of misfits begins to build a small community in this inhospitable place, De Schinkel swears vengeance, and the confrontation between him and Kahlen promises to be as violent and intense as these two men.

After years of rumors and speculation, Liam Neeson’s Naked Gun reboot looks like it is finally heading into production. Set to be directed by The Lonely Island’s Akiva Schaffer, and written by Dan Gregor and Doug Man, fans expect a lot from this reboot. While many have tried (and failed) to update the franchise, and it’s hard to imagine anyone stepping into Leslie Nielsen’s iconic shoes at Lt. Frank Drebin, it’s pretty interesting that the team pairing on this is the same one that teamed on Disney’s much better than expected reboot of Chip n’ Dale’s Rescue Rangers. All involved are really funny, so if anyone could make this work, it’s them. With a release date tentatively set for July 18th, 2025, here’s everything we know about the Naked Gun reboot.

Netflix is one of the top streaming services for a reason. What attracts so many millions of users around the world is the freedom to choose content — Netflix's library may not be endless, but there is never a shortage of viewing options.
In particular, the platform actively offers all kinds of movies and series in the thriller genre, as users enjoy following nail-biting events full of thrills and suspense while waiting for mind-blowing revelations. Some of the most popular projects are the live-action adaptations of thriller king Harlan Coben, including the release earlier this year of Fool Me Once, starring Michelle Keegan and Richard Armitage.
But as the number of thrillers on Netflix has grown over the past few years, it's become increasingly difficult to find a series that doesn't follow typical tropes and clichés and offers something truly original.

Daniel Craig breathed fresh life into James Bond, the iconic British spy that Ian Fleming created. The actor took the character and put a different spin on it, and it was clear from the get-go in Casino Royale.
The film’s success exceeded expectations, and Craig’s outing as the protagonist was greatly appreciated too. He donned the skin of the character with panache and delivered a memorable performance. Moreover, the film established a trend after 19 years, that its predecessors had deviated from.

Perspective is one of the building blocks of cinema. It’s often thought of as a visual tool, but it doesn’t stop there. The audience is forfeiting both their visual and auditory senses and it’s the filmmakers’ job to take them on a journey using both images and sound.
In sound world, we aren’t simply creating the literal reality of where a character is currently located; we’re using sound to give a sense of the emotional situation using the naturalistic elements of that location. It’s the process of creating an experience wherein the audience steps into the subjectivity of a character—and to create that, it isn’t always as simple as “see a dog, hear a dog.” The cut is what the audience sees and the sonic-perspective is what they feel.
Case in point: take a stressful scene, one where our hero screams out loud from angst and frustration.

Death Stranding is Hideo Kojima’s first independent project in years, and Sony was generous enough to help give the legendary auteur of video games a hand to find his footing in the larger video game industry. Each director has their unique approach to creating a film or game, Kojima is a more collaborative person in nature and even took the opinions and ideas of stuntmen like Justin Leeper into account.
Great leaders know when to listen to their subordinates, in this case, Leeper reveals he has contributed a significant amount of input for Death Stranding apart from the contributions he has made while wearing the motion capture suit. Kojima Productions may be following Hideo’s instincts but the director’s ears are also sharp.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story showed how to repair damage in a sci-fi franchise but Romulus director Fede Alvarez must bring his A-game
Back in the day, if you accidentally created a giant plot hole in your science fiction saga, you were done, your goose droid cooked, with nothing to look forward to but the prospect of future generations looking back scornfully at your ever-sullied work of cinema.
But then along came Star Wars: Rogue One, a movie that somehow made sense of all the really silly bits in 1977’s Star Wars, such as the climactic sequence in which Luke Skywalker managed to blow up the Death Star in his tiny little star fighter. It turned out (albeit nearly 40 years later) that this wasn’t a plot hole but an ingenious deliberate flaw in the giant planet-killing monstrosity’s system planted there by Imperial scientist Galen Erso (Mads Mikkelsen...

Video-game-maker turned filmmaker Hideo Kojima is pointing to “Dune: Part Two” — and its premium large-screen experience, specifically — as the future of film.
The “Death Stranding” creator took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to applaud Denis Villeneuve’s epic sequel. Kojima also admitted he was getting a little too comfortable with the idea of streaming movies on a phone or tablet. “Dune: Part Two,” however, was an exception for him — and it was an exceptional experience.
“Even as a movie buff, I was beginning to think it was time for me to start watching movies on my smartphone or tablet. However, when I watched ‘Dune: Part 2,’ my rigid ways of thinking crumbled like sand!” Kojima wrote. “It meticulously depicts the non-existent world of Arrakis, bringing it to life with unprecedented detail and realism. While portraying revolution and love, fear and awe on the same axis, it magnificently captivates destruction and aestheticism in beautiful layers.

In the documentary “Connecting Worlds” available on Disney+, Danish actor and former James Bond villain Mads Mikkelsen talks about his friendship with legendary video game director Hideo Kojima and how he became Cliff Unger.

The Walking Dead star Norman Reedus has no idea what he was stepping into the moment he agreed to star in Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding. Meeting through writer and director Guillermo del Toro who was a mutual friend of Reedus and Kojima, the director phoned Reedus and informed him that he would receive a call about a project and all he had to say was say yes.
The project was meant to be Silent Hills, unfortunately, it was canceled. Norman was still committed and the project shifted as he jumped from one post-apocalyptic world torn apart by the undead to another where tar-like creatures roam rampant. During his work on a motion capture stage, the seasoned actor encountered unexpected challenges when acting around an empty room with markers on his body. In the documentary, “Connecting Worlds,” which is available on Disney+, he recounts the story of how he initially secured the role.

The early weekend numbers are starting to roll in, and it’s good news for Bob Marley: One Love, with the audience-friendly biopic crossing an important milestone worldwide. Indeed, the film has now crossed the century mark, making $101 million worldwide. By the end of the weekend, Bob Marley: One Love should cross $70 million domestically, with a $13.8 million weekend (according to Deadline’s numbers).
Meanwhile, in second place is the latest instalment of the ever-popular Demon Slayer anime saga, with To the Hashira Training on track to crack $10 million for the weekend, which is just about $500k more than I predicted in my box office forecast. The faith-based Ordinary Angels is third, with a softer-than-expected $6.5 million predicted, despite an A+ CinemaScore. That said, I expect this Hilary Swank/ Alan Ritchson movie to have tremendous legs.

It’s a big weekend on the campaign trail. The SAG Awards take place on Saturday, and both the Independent Spirits Awards and Producers Guild Awards are on Sunday. After that, the state of the Oscar race will be clearer than ever. Right on time, one of this year’s most-nominated films is hitting digital platforms. It’s joined by a handful of contenders past and present.
The contender to watch this week: “The Zone of Interest“
Jonathan Glazer‘s Best Picture-nominated Holocaust drama should be experienced in a theater, where the harrowing, immersive sound design stands out. It’s still playing in select venues across the country, having grossed nearly $7 million domestically — an impressive figure for an arty indie with difficult subject matter. But you can also see it at home now: The Best International Feature Film front-runner is available to purchase on VOD for $19.99. The film, which depicts...

True Detective has to be one of the most brilliant anthology mystery thriller shows ever made. Originally created by Nic Pizzolatto, the HBO series told a dark and haunting tale through the brilliant performances by Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson in its first season. The quality of the series took a nosedive in its second season and the third season while better from Season 2 didn’t really match the expectation that the inaugural season of True Detective set. Now, we are in Season 4 titled Night Country and with a new creative force behind the series, the fans are getting exactly what they want. So, if you have already finished the much awaited Season 4 of True Detective and are hoping for a renewal, here are some similar shows you could watch while waiting for the new season.

As Denis Villeneuve prepares to release the hotly anticipated conclusion to his Dune saga, Dune: Part Two, fans still lament one tragic loss that deprived the sci-fi sequel of a potentially legendary performance: Philip Seymour Hoffman as the devious face-dancer Scytale.
Hoffman, widely considered one of the greatest actors of his generation thanks to raw, Oscar-winning performances, died suddenly in 2014 from a drug overdose at age 46. In the years since, fans have continued mourning both the man and the incredible actor, including his absence from potential future roles like the cunning Dune shapeshifter Scytale or perhaps even Baron Vladimir Harkonnen.

Plot: In 18th century Denmark, Captain Ludvig Kahlen – a proud, ambitious, but impoverished war hero — sets out to tame a vast, uninhabitable land on which seemingly nothing can grow. He seeks to start farming crops, build a colony in the name of the King, and gain a noble title for himself. This beautiful but forbidding area also happens to be under the rule of the merciless Frederik De Schinkel, a preening nobleman who realizes the threat Kahlen represents to his power.

After the big casting reveal of the four main protagonists in The Fantastic Four, fans next await the announcement of the villain actor, with Javier Bardem’s name thrown around recently. Interestingly, Bardem is eyed for the role of Galactus, who will be the central villain in the film, instead of Doctor Doom. However, there’s another actor whom Marvel has previously worked with and who would make the perfect cosmic villain in The Fantastic Four — Mads Mikkelsen.
No Country for Old Men star Javier Bardem is rumored to play Galactus
While Javier Bardem will make for a terrifying villain as he did in No Country for Old Men, Galactus is more of an antagonist than an outright villain, a fitting role for an actor like Mikkelsen. While Galactus is the Devourer of Worlds, he also provides the needed balance against Celestials in the universe.

Henry Cavill is popularly known for his portrayal of Clark Kent a.k.a. Superman in DC Extended Universe along with playing Geralt of Rivia in Netflix’s The Witcher. Cavill’s portrayal of Superman was highly appreciated by the audience and the actor decided to return as Superman in Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam in a mid-credit cameo scene.
Cavill, in October 2022, announced that he’d be returning as fan favorite Superman after it was reported that a sequel to Man of Steel was in development. But later in December of 2022, the actor confirmed that after his meeting with new co-CEOs of DC Studios James Gunn and Peter Safran, he would no longer return as Superman. But now a very interesting report suggests Henry Cavill can make his MCU debut soon.

Rumors: Doctor Doom Set To Appear in ‘Fantastic Four’ in a Small Role Setting up Future Installments
Yesterday, exciting news surfaced about the upcoming film “Fantastic Four.” The official release date for this highly anticipated Marvel movie is July 25, 2025. Fans have been buzzing with speculation for months, and now we have confirmation on the main cast.
Pedro Pascal will take on the role of Reed Richards (also known as Mister Fantastic), a character accidentally confirmed by SAG-AFTRA last week. Vanessa Kirby will portray Sue Storm, aka The Invisible Woman, which aligns with previous rumors. Completing the first family, we have Ebon Moss-Bachrach as The Thing and Joseph Quinn as The Human Torch.

Yesterday the news broke regarding the release date of ‘Fantastic Four’ and the officially confirmed cast. ‘Fantastic Four’ will be released on July 25, 2025, and the main cast is what was pretty much rumored for the last 5 or so months. Pedro Pascal will assume the role of Reed Richards, this is something that was accidentally confirmed last week by SAG-AFTRA. Vanessa Kirby will be playing the role of Sue Storm, something that was likewise practically known. The other two members of the first family are Ebon Moss-Bachrach as the Thing and Joseph Quinn as the Human Torch.
Filming is expected to begin this summer, and due to the release date being switched, ‘Thunderbolts’ lost its July 2025 spot being moved to release earlier than expected on May 2, 2025. Despite the main cast being confirmed, there was not a speck of news regarding the potential appearance of Doctor Doom, the villain most often tied to Marvel’s first family.

Inspired by a true story about a retired 18th-century army captain turned farmer, Nikolaj Arcel’s brash drama is entertaining, if a little preposterous
There’s old-fashioned entertainment value in this tough, if faintly preposterous Nordic western, a muscular, brash and well photographed piece of work from Danish director Nikolaj Arcel, co-written with Anders Thomas Jensen. It’s adapted from the 2020 bestseller The Captain and Ann Barbara by Ida Jessen, which is itself loosely inspired by a true story from Denmark’s history about the retired 18th-century army captain turned farmer Ludwig von Kahlen.
Kahlen got royal permission to cultivate the lawless and desolate Jutland heath, a theoretically lucrative adventure which would reward only the hardiest and most fanatically committed. Mads Mikkelsen plays Kahlen with granite-faced imperturbability and the kind of silent strength that makes him a Euro Gary Cooper. This movie dreams up romantic and dramatic subplots for this...

While it would be hilarious to imagine some of these characters running the United States, some of our top picks are a real horror show when it comes to how they use their power and influence in their own respective universes.

“Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” turned heads with its opening scene that featured a de-aged Harrison Ford fighting Nazis in a castle before being pursued by Mads Mikkelsen’s Dr. Jürgen Voller atop a moving train. But while the technology that allowed Ford to play a younger Indiana Jones attracted the most attention, Mikkelsen’s appearance was also digitally altered to make him look younger.
In a new interview with Business Insider, Mikkelsen reflected on the process of being de-aged and recalled the moment when he agreed to use the technology.
“They de-aged me as well, but with a different technique,” Mikkelsen said. “In the beginning, they thought it was enough just to dye my hair completely black. And then I told them, ‘You know what? My hair’s black, but I look like an old woman now. So let’s just do a little thing.’ I mean,...

When it was announced that Chris Rock would be remaking the Danish film Another Round, there was some knee-jerk concern that the comedian may not be able to nail the tone of the original. Personally, I think Rock is an intelligent enough guy to (hopefully) not turn it into a raucous, sloppy mess that the plot, on paper only, suggests. Now, Another Round director Thomas Vinterberg is weighing in on Rock having a go at a remake.
Vinterberg recently told the Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet (as translated by NME) that he has faith in Chris Rock taking on Another Round, saying, “The choice of Chris Rock is exciting. It’s exciting [to see] what he comes up with. I am full of good expectations.” Vinterberg then joked, “If it’s shit, he’ll get slapped again,” obviously referring to the 2022 incident in which Rock was attacked by Will Smith after joking about wife Jada.
