Do you have a recurring nightmare? Mine is the oh-so passé “being chased”. It’s always the same; hunted relentlessly by an unknown assailant, helplessly fleeing from a certain doom. Of course, I wake up in a puddle of sweat, crying out for mommy, as one will do. The fear of cutthroat pursuit is at the center of Nightmare City (1980), Umberto Lenzi’s take on the then resurgent zombie sub-genre. And while you won’t wake up screaming after seeing it, you might end up covered in a sticky sweet glaze of Wtf. The Italians don’t make their horror in half measures; I’m pretty sure Nightmare City throws in the whole cup.
I should say, Italian/Spanish/Mexican. This co-co-production was released in Italy in December, toured around Europe for a couple of years, and then landed on North American soil late ’83 under the title City of the Walking Dead,...

Heads up, classic horror fans, because a couple of huge names are getting together to tackle a major title. Tom Savini is aiming to update Umberto Lenzi's Nightmare City with Lenzi himself on board as a producer and with the story updated to reflect recent fears of global pandemics, specifically the recent ebola crisis. After the outbreak of an unknown virus in the Caribbean the Miami Port Authority receives an Sos from an international aid ship returning from Haiti. *Updated* Umberto Lenzi’s Nightmare City, also released under the title City of the Walking Dead, gets a Blu-ray release in December. The Italian horror movie was originally released in Europe in 1980, starring Hugo Stiglitz and Laura Trotter. Gore and nudity also feature quite heavily and not always mutually exclusive. Here are the details from Raro Video:
“TV news reporter Dean Miller waits at the airport for the arrival of a scientist that he is about to interview. There, an unmarked military plane makes an emergency landing. The plane doors open and dozens of zombies burst out stabbing and shooting military waiting outside. Miller tries to let the people know of this event, but General Murchison of Civil Defense will not allow it. Then, Miller tries to find his wife and escape from the blood-thirsty zombies that are all over the city.”
While planned for release in October, Nightmare City...

Three truly obscure titles are getting set to hit Blu-ray for the first and very limited time. That's right, kids! Jeff Lieberman's hillbilly slasher Just Before Dawn is on its way along with Fulci's Voices From Beyond and Umberto Lenzi's Nightmare City!
There's a catch though... Just Before Dawn and Voices From Beyond will only be sold through the Code Red website and will both be granted an Extremely limited run. Order Just Before Dawn here and Voices From Beyond here. No firm release date has been given for either film. Hurry up! These two will likely sell out fast.
Now on to the good news... for the first time we are getting the original uncut version of Just Before Dawn from the original InterNegative. Also included will be an extended cut (for overseas distribution) and the original theatrical trailer.

Nova 106.9 will fly 100 clients to western Queensland to watch a local horse race in aid of flood relief.
The announcement:
Nova 106.9Fm will head west tomorrow to support the inaugural “City to the Bush” campaign.
The Nova 106.9Fm team has teamed up with the Brisbane Racing Club, Channel Seven, Coca Cola, Avmin and Salva Resources, to take 100 clients and VIPs, in a chartered plane, to the town of St George in Western Queensland to attend their local race day this Saturday.
The “City to the Bush” campaign was devised by the organisations to help country communities, still feeling the financial pain of the 2011 floods, get back on their feet by creating an event that takes city folk, and their cash, to the country to support its annual race meeting.
The first “City to the Bush” event will be hosted by the St George Jockey Club.

“Nightmare City” (1980)
Directed By: Umberto Lenzi
Written By: Piero Mignoli, Tony Corti, Jose Luis Delgado
Starring: Hugo Stiglitz (Dean Miller), Laura Trotter (Dr. Anna Miller), Maria Rosaria (Sheila), Francisco Rabal (Major Warren Holmes), Sonia Viviani (Cindy), Eduardo Fajardo (Dr. Kramer) Mel Ferrer (General Murchison).
I never knew mindless killing could occur with no actual plot but apparently it really can! It is fairly difficult to defend this movie unless the movie watcher really likes incoherent films. This movie was released under numerous titles as well such as “City of the Walking Dead” and its Italian label “Incubo Sulla Cittá Contaminata.” This movie is not very well known and I found out why, the hard way.
The apparent plot is a news reporter named Dean (Hugo Stiglitz) is going to interview a scientist at a European airport about a recent nuclear incident. A random plane lands...
