Revamping one of the most well-known streets in the world — the Las Vegas Strip — into a racing circuit might seem an impossible challenge. But the inaugural Formula 1 Heineken Silver Las Vegas Grand Prix, set for Nov. 16 to 18, is hustling to do just that in a $560 million civil-planning and engineering feat that is currently underway before the track goes hot.
“This is one of the most aggressive programs of construction and design I’ve seen, certainly in Vegas, as well as sports,” says Terry Miller, project manager for the Las Vegas Grand Prix.
In June 2022, John Malone’s Liberty Media, which owns Formula One Group, bought 39 acres of land on the northeast corner of Koval Lane and Harmon Avenue for the Paddock Building. Miller says that before they even had a design, the purchasing of construction materials began to avoid supply chain delays. In November 2022, F1 and Liberty Media hosted a groundbreaking ceremony.

A “Law & Order: Organized Crime” crew member was shot and killed on set during the early morning hours on Tuesday, IndieWire has confirmed.
“We were terribly saddened and shocked to hear that one of our crew members was the victim of a crime early this morning and has died as a result,” NBC and Universal Television said in a joint statement shared with IndieWire. “We are working with local law enforcement as they continue to investigate. Our hearts go out to his family and friends and we ask that you respect their privacy during this time.”
“Law & Order: Organized Crime” was filming in Brooklyn’s Greenpoint neighborhood on the corner of Henry St. and Norman Ave., a person with knowledge of production told IndieWire. The crew member, a contract worker and thus not an employee of Universal Television, was performing set security and parking enforcement, the person told us.

Exclusive: Miguel Gomez will not be returning to FBI: Most Wanted when the crime drama series is back for a fourth season next fall. Gomez, who joined the FBI spinoff as a series regular midway through Season 2, playing Special Agent Ivan Ortiz, is leaving the series. His departure is believed to be a creative decision.
The recent Season 3 finale provided a suitable ending to the arc of Ortiz, a former LAPD Gang Unit officer born and raised in Los Angeles who, after a stint with the FBI’s counter-terror unit in Washington, DC, joined the team that tracks down the country’s most wanted fugitives. In the finale, which aired last week, Ortiz returned to Los Angeles to take care of his ailing father.
FBI: Most Wanted underwent a major casting change this season when original lead Julian McMahon exited and was succeeded by Dylan McDermott playing a new character.

More than 40 years ago, Renée Richards successfully fought for the right to play women’s tennis after undergoing gender confirmation surgery. Richards goes unmentioned in “Changing the Game” — a fast-moving, vivid, and touching account of three teenaged transgender athletes and their struggles to play competitive sports in high school — but her example should be taken into consideration when thinking through this issue.
Richards had her surgery only when she was over 40 years old, and it cannot be stressed enough how difficult it was for her to get to that point in 1975. By contrast, the three modern-day transgender teenagers in “Changing the Game” have already started taking hormones, and so the challenges they are facing are very different from the ones that Richards faced; still, one constant on this issue is the outright prejudice of the right wing.
It was Tucker Carlson’s father Richard Carlson who first outed Richards as transgender,...

Law & Order: Organized Crime is the latest drama to be hit by the pandemic.
Deadline understands that production has paused on the NBC series due to a positive Covid test in Zone A, which traditionally includes on-screen talent.
The network has asked those in close contact to self-isolate as required by state and county guidelines. It’s not clear when production will resume but the April 1 premiere date is not expected to be impacted.
The positive results were revealed as part of NBC’s regular safety protocol and immediate contact tracing began as is outlined in the guidelines set by state and county and in the NBCU Production Playbook.
In the series, Christopher Meloni is reprising his role as Elliot Stabler, who returns to the NYPD to battle organized crime after a devastating personal loss. Stabler will aim to rebuild his life as part of a new elite task...

Hanna returned, proving once again that she knows just enough to be dangerous.
Make that very dangerous.
Life on the run for Hanna and her new "sister" Clara was remarkably short-lived on Hanna Season 2 Episode 1 and Hanna Season 2 Episode 2.
That's because, for all their significant skills as living weapons, both of them are orphans and crave family.
With her surrogate father Erik killed on Hanna Season 1 Episode 8, Hanna found herself all alone.
That's why Hanna attempted to free the other trainees from the Utrax program, much as Erik had rescued her years before.
But only Clara had the independent spirit to accept Hanna's invitation.
This season is taking the intriguing path of following Hanna and Clara on their journeys but also continuing to track the other trainees at the new Utrax compound in Northern England.
Much as Erik had done for her, Hanna was now teaching Clara how to survive...

Dick Wolf’s freshman CBS drama series FBI, which was just renewed for a second season, is getting a spinoff. The network has commissioned a backdoor pilot for FBI: Most Wanted, which will air as an episode of FBI in the spring. The project has a series commitment, making an episodic pickup for next season likely.
As the name suggests, FBI: Most Wanted is centered around the division of the FBI tasked with tracking and capturing the notorious criminals on the FBI’s Most Wanted list.
The planted spinoff episode, which is now casting leads for the potential offshoot series, is written by Wolf and one of his trusted writer-producers, Law & Order alum Rene Balcer, and will be directed by another Law & Order veteran, Fred Berner, who also has been directing episodes of Wolf’s Chicago dramas on NBC.

CBS is working on a spinoff of the freshman drama “FBI,” Variety has learned.
The new series would be titled “FBI: Most Wanted.” It would follow the division of the FBI tasked with tracking and capturing the notorious criminals on the FBI’s Most Wanted list. It will air as a planted spinoff episode, or backdoor pilot, of “FBI” that will be broadcast in spring 2019. The project has received a series commitment from the network.
“Most Wanted” will be written and executive produced by Dick Wolf and Rene Balcer. Balcer has served as a consulting producer on “FBI” and has previously collaborated with Wolf on multiple iterations of the “Law & Order” franchise. “FBI” executive producers Arthur W. Forney and Peter Jankowski will also executive produce “Most Wanted” with Fred Berner directing the initial episode. Berner has previously produced and directed for several “Law & Order” shows as well as the “Chicago” shows.

We have the first freshmen of the 2018-19 season to score pickups for next season. CBS has given early renewals to dramas FBI and Magnum P.I. and comedy The Neighborhood.
The moves hardly are unexpected as CBS brass have been happy with the performance of the three newbies; the only surprise in today’s announcement is the fact that the list of renewals does not include another promising freshman series, drama God Friended Me. I hear the omission is due to ongoing talks over business points between CBS and God Friended Me lead studio Warner Bros TV, and the intention is for the spiritual drama to be renewed soon.
The four shows earned full-season orders in short succession last fall, and all are touted for improving their time periods.

In an indication of its strong support for its four first-year standouts, CBS is holding a “CBS Freshman Hit Series” panel at TCA next week, which will feature stars and executive producers from FBI, The Neighborhood and God Friended Me (I hear Magnum P.I. could not be included because it’s in production in Hawaii.)
The Neighborhood, starring Cedric the Entertainer and Max Greenfield, hails from CBS TV Studios and Aaron Kaplan’s Kapital Entertainment.. FBI, from Dick Wolf, Universal TV and CBS TV Studios, with the latter handling international distribution, fulfills a longtime desire of CBS’ leadership to get in the Wolf crime procedural business. Magnum P.I., from Peter Lenkov, CBS TV Studios and Universal TV, has been driven by CBS and CBS TV Studios, which is the lead studio, with one of the CBS/CBS Studios’ top showrunners at the helm, reboot king Lenkov.
“Each of these distinctive shows has made their mark in a variety of ways,” said Kelly Kahl, President of CBS Entertainment. “Our goals this season were to introduce new series that audiences are passionate about, add more strength to a winning schedule and create more inclusive programming.”
Added Thom Sherman, Senior Evp Programming, “We’re thrilled by the creative direction and performance of these three shows as they continue to grow in popularity and resonate with the Network’s viewers.”
FBI is a top 10 series and CBS’s #1 new show in total viewers, averaging almost 13 million viewers each week. The fast-paced drama stars Missy Peregrym, Zeeko Zaki, Jeremy Sisto, Ebońee Noel and Sela Ward. In addition to Wolf, Rick Eid, Terry Miller, Arthur W. Forney and Peter Jankowski also serve as executive producers as the series underwent several showrunner changes over the course of its first season.
