Throughout this first season of 'The Gates' (Sun., 10Pm on ABC), local witch Devon (Chandra West) had been stirring up trouble with just about everyone. Her misdeeds came back to haunt her in the finale, as the vampires decided it was time to do away with her for good.
Dylan (Luke Mably) and Claire Radcliffe (Rhona Mitra) arrived at her house to take care of the situation, but Chief Nick Monahan (Frank Grillo) stayed the execution. "My son is dying. She's the only one who can save him," he pleaded. But it proved only a temporary stay of execution, as the four were surrounded by vampires en route.
Nick and Dylan tried to use reason with the leader of the vampire group that stopped them, arguing that it doesn't have to be this way. Unfortunately, he proves less sympathetic to Nick's plight. "And unfortunately for you,...

"The Gates" are ready to swing open on ABC and you may be wondering if you should walk through them. We think it's a good summer TV bet. It takes the parody of "Desperate Housewives" and mixes it with the supernatural soap opera of "The Vampire Diaries." And that's not a bad mix in our opinion.
"The Gates" revolves around the Monahans, a family who have moved to the exclusive isolated community for a second chance. Nick Monahan (played by Frank Grillo) is the new chief of police and he thinks his job is to keep the peace, but he finds out that doesn't apply in all situations. His kids go to the local school and they find the neighbor kids are smart and complicated. His wife is just happy to have a fresh start and she's willing to remain clueless to have it.
You may be all too ready...

Brit actress Rhona Mitra (Doomsday) headlines ABC’s new summer show The Gates, a supernatural small-town cop show that premiers this Sunday in the Us, more specifically on ABC. The series takes place in a suburb of Chicago and follows a big-city cop move his family to what he thinks is a quiet suburb when he’s appointed chief of police. Then he comes to realise it’s not a quiet as he thought… it’s actually populated with monsters!
The image of perpetual suburban bliss, each street is lined with perfectly manicured homes protected by the massive iron gates, but a dark and delicious secret is buried just beneath the surface of this picturesque neighborhood. Like most families that settle inside The Gates, the Monahans are unmoored from a complicated life they abandoned in Chicago. Named the new police chief of The Gates, Nick Monahan is expecting a change...

ABC revealed a summer schedule containing the largest number of scripted efforts seen at the network in years, along with a pair of new reality shows.
The lineup seeks to add year-around consistency to ABC's schedule by keeping original dramas airing Sundays and Thursdays and reality shows Mondays and Tuesdays.
Beginning June 20, Sunday nights will see the premiere of supernatural crime drama "The Gates" and the lighter family drama "Scoundrels." The former is about a police chief (Nick Monahan) investigating supernatural crimes in a mountain town. "Scoundrels" centers on the mother (Virginia Madsen) of a family of small-time criminals.
Mondays will continue to mine "The Bachelor" franchise, first with "The Bachelorette" launching May 24, then joined May 31 by the return of "True Beauty." Then new spinoff "Bachelor Pad," which has former contestants living together, takes over the Monday slot Aug. 9. The show is joined by the return of "Dating in the Dark.
