- After attending the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts (RADA) Elizabeth joined the Newcastle Repertory Theatre and acted in plays in the Playhouse, Jesmond, Newcastle until she was "spotted" by Leo M Lion and offered the role of Nadine Browning in 'Beggars in Hell' at the Garrick Theatre in 1933.
