The relatives of Mario “Cantinflas” Moreno, Mexico’s most famous comedian, are not happy with the casting of Oscar Jaenada in the lead role of a planned Cantinflas bio picture.
As reported on HollywoodNews.com, Jaenada — who has a part in this weekend’s action thriller “The Losers” with Zoe Saldana — beat out John Leguizamo and Diego Luna for the role. But as was mentioned on the Web site Showbiz Café, the notion of hiring a Spanish actor to play a Mexican icon has caused hostility.
“My family is very disappointed by the decision this director has made about choosing a Spanish (actor) to play my uncle’s bio,” said Carlo Moreno, nephew of Cantinflas, in an e-mail sent exclusively to HollywoodNews.com.
“My uncle was Mexican all the way, as many fans are starting to be very disappointed by not choosing a Mexican actor to play his part.
