Danielle Fishel is Topanga Lawrence to Boy Meets World fans. From the pilot episode through the finale, Fishel portrayed Cory Matthew’s love interest, Topanga. She also appeared in the reboot, Girl Meets World, to reprise the role. Fishel was not the first Topanga Lawrence, though. The part originally went to Bonnie Mogran, but she was fired after her first day on the set. Fishel revealed in a different podcast episode that she was close to being booted from the part, too.

Actress Bonnie Morgan shared some ugly truths on the podast “Pod Meets World.”
Early in her career, she was signed to play lead character Topanga Lawrence on the show “Boys Meets World.” She talked with podcast hosts and show cast members Danielle Fishel, Rider Strong and Will Friedle about her experience on the show and how she felt when she was fired.
“I had three callbacks,” she said. “They kept bringing me back, and … it was rooms full of people every time. And, weirdly, every time I’d audition, we’d talk a lot. Every time I’d come back, the script would change slightly, it seemed, to things we had talked about.”
Morgan felt the role was deeply connected to her. Even the name Topanga “was out of my parents’ love history,” noting they “got married in Topanga Canyon. It was the coolest thing ever.”

Before fans came to know Danielle Fishel as Topanga on “Boy Meets World”, there was Bonnie Morgan.
As viewers know today, Fishel portrayed Topanga Lawrence through all seven seasons of the hit ABC sitcom, but that was not originally the case. Instead, Morgan, a fellow child actress, had landed the role, but was swiftly fired. Three decades later, Morgan recalled the sequence of events to Fishel, Will Friedle and Rider Strong on the Monday episode of their joint podcast, “Pod Meets World”, and, notably, the alleged reason she was really let go from the role.
Morgan remembered having multiple callbacks for the job before being cast and noticed the script would continue to change, seemingly to reflect their conversations with her. After officially landing the role at around 12 years old, the actress described her first day on set as the “weirdest day of my life.” She claimed the adults were...

Chicago – Patrick McDonald of HollywoodChicago.com appears on The Eddie Volkman Show on Wssr-fm on October 16th, 2020, reviewing a new Netflix Halloween release, “Our House,” plus a preview of the produced-in-Chicago film “The Misadventures of Mistress Maneater.”
Rating: 3.5/5.0
”His House” involves a from-Africa couple (Sope Dirisu and Wunmi Mosaku) who escape from the war torn South Sudan, and is put up as refugees in public housing in London. They have bought their demons with them, however, and it starts to attack them – horror film style – from their tenement housing. Yes, this is a symbolic film, but it’s also pretty creepy, as many images of voodoo and witchery are no doubt rooted in the mystery of Africa.
“His House” is on Netflix beginning October 30th. Featuring Sope Dirisu, Wunmi Mosaku, Javier Botet and Matt Smith. Written by Felicity Evans, Toby Venables and Remi Weekes. Directed by Remi Weekes. Rated “TV-...

Chicago – The culmination of years in sweat and other equity on an independent feature film – slyly entitled “The Misadventures of Mistress Maneater” – has paid off for writer and lead actor Lorrisa Julianus and her husband/director Craig “C.J.” Julianus. The movie will make its debut and will be available for rental or purchase on Amazon Prime Video beginning Friday, October 30th, 2020.
The combination comedy, action and romance film … with a dominatrix character thrown in … is from the mind of Lorrisa Julianus, in a story she developed for over five years. She also portrays that dominatrix named Ava, who hates the nickname expressed in the title. Ava is really an Art History PhD candidate, who longs for the big find so she can finish her thesis. Enter Radovan (Mickey O’Sullivan), a Serbian expatriate who is also an Episcopalian priest. When Ava finds out that a mob loan is due, Radovan...

1. Taylor Swift becomes a zombie for “Look What You Made Me Do”
The singer shared a timelapse transformation of her new video’s most shocking look with Buzzfeed. “When you look this gross you just have no physical insecurities at all. Like, none. They’re gone. It’s really, it’s freeing. I encourage everyone to look like a corpse at least once,” she joked about the “straight-up dead” aesthetic.

When film series’ dissipate it is sometimes difficult to tell whether one is watching a sequel, remake, spin-off, re-imagining or something else entirely. Horror franchises are probably the most guilty of doing this, with every decade spawning new icons for studios to saturate throughout cinemas. George Romero’s zombie/ dead series crossed the streams with sequels to the original trilogy and their remakes arriving simultaneously while classic characters are incessantly reworked for new generations. Now the Ring films follows suit with new sequel, Rings just arrived and Ju-on crossover Sadako Vs Kayako, still due an official UK release.
For anyone unfamiliar with the origin story: a young girl is buried alive at the bottom of a well. Her spirit possesses a videotape. Anyone who watches the tape receives a phone-call informing them that they have a week to live. The girl appears to the cursed cassette watchers seven days later,...

And with the road trip revenge thriller coming out on DVD via Rlj Entertainment this Tuesday, we caught up with Ferrell for our latest Q&A feature. In today’s Horror Highlights, we also have photos from last week’s Los Angeles fan screening of Rings and the trailer and release details for The Burningmoore Deaths.
Thanks for taking the time to answer some questions for us, Jeff. How and when did you first come up with the idea for Dead West?
Jeff Ferrell: The idea for Dead West was born during the shooting of my first movie, Ghostlight. One night after filming, I was with the lead actor, Brian Sutherland, in his hotel room. We were drinking beers and throwing ideas around, when he suddenly said, “I really wanna play a serial killer. Write...

Cinekorn Entertainment has announced their association with Viacom India. The organization has acquired the Indian theatrical distribution rights of the third instalment of the popular horror franchise: The Ring. Cinekorn is already a leading content house that works on distribution of films on satellite and digital platforms. The company holds an enormous library of Tamil, Telugu & Kannada films, dubbed in Hindi. Founder of Cinekorn, Kalapi Nagada said, “Rings is a bloodcurdling, horrendous horror film and will do strikingly well on the box office, since people are waiting earnestly. One of the largest releases with 1100+ no of screens, Rings will be distributed by Cinekorn as one of the biggest Hollywood films in India.” The organization has in the past acquired distribution rights for the successful Hindi & English films like Rustom, Udta Punjab, 300, Batman v Superman and The legend of Tarzan, among others. As art student Skye, Aimee Teegarden finds herself caught up in the deadly curse of The Tape in Paramount Pictures’ Rings. The inevitable meeting between Skye and Samara is one of my favorite scenes from the film, so I was excited to speak with Teegarden about smashing screens in that intense scene, working with Johnny Galecki, and what creeped her out the most on set.
Thanks for taking the time to talk with me today about Rings. I really enjoyed your character [Skye] in particular.
Aimee Teegarden: It was such a fun role—she [Skye] was so much fun to play. My dad was there [at the screening] with me last night and he was like, “Wow, you were really angry, weren’t you?”
Skye shares many scenes with Gabe, and it’s great to see Johnny Galecki play this totally different role than people know him as. What was it like working with Johnny in that capacity?...

"First you watch it. Then you die." It may be 15 years since Samara Morgan -- the orphan girl who was thrown down a well and now haunts a creepy, homemade movie -- spooked Naomi Watts in The Ring, but her fondness for VHS tapes remains intact in the franchise's latest installment, Rings.
This time, Italian actress Matilda Lutz is the one who watches the tape, though. Which may be the biggest difference between Lutz and the character she plays. Her curse only takes seven days to work its deadly magic, but it’s been over ten years since Samara was last seen on the big screen in the American version of the Ring franchise. That all changes with the release of Rings this weekend, and while it does share the same name as Jonathan Liebesman’s 2005 short film that bridges the gap between The Ring and The Ring Two, it doesn’t share its predecessor’s ability to get under your skin.
The Ring Two was released in March of 2005, and a lot has changed in the nearly 12 intervening years between then and now, especially with technology. While mobile connectivity was becoming more commonplace in ’05 (when flip phones were seemingly multiplying overnight like rabbits in the summertime), the concept of being constantly “plugged in” was vastly different than today’s screen-centric culture. Thanks to smartphones, laptops, and even virtual reality headsets,...

“Rings” is threatening to take down box office holdovers “Split” and “Hidden Figures” this weekend. But the horror title is not a sure bet for No. 1 as all three movies are poised to pull in roughly $14 million, according to box office analysts. Playing in roughly 3,000 locations, the film stars Matilda Lutz, Alex Roe, Johnny Galecki, Aimee Teegarden, Bonnie Morgan and Vincent D’Onofrio. “The Ring” sequel was produced for $25 million. Wherever there’s a screen, Samara will be there, too. You’re not even safe from her wrath if you’re over 20,000 feet in the air, as evidenced in the opening scene from Rings that you can watch right now, along with a new clip in which Johnny Galecki receives an unsettling phone call.
Synopsis: “A new chapter in the beloved Ring horror franchise. A young woman becomes worried about her boyfriend when he explores a dark subculture surrounding a mysterious videotape said to kill the watcher seven days after he has viewed it. She sacrifices herself to save her boyfriend and in doing so makes a horrifying discovery: there is a “movie within the movie” that no one has ever seen before…”

Earlier this week, we saw Samara (played by Bonnie Morgan) scare unsuspecting shoppers at an electronics store in a hilarious prank video ahead of Paramount Pictures’ February 3rd release of Rings, and now the cursed girl (this time played by Natasha King) has stowed away in a luggage bag to give the hosts of NBC’s Today show a shock!
From Today: “Poor Natalie Morales seems to be a favorite foil for pranks on Today, and on Thursday it happened again. Natalie thought she was participating in a segment about the wacky things people pack in their suitcases – until the creepy girl from the horror movie “Rings” unexpectedly emerged from one!”

"There once was a girl... no one dare speak her name." Paramount has debuted a new trailer for the horror sequel Rings, the third film in the Ring series, originally a remake of the Japanese horror series. This film is finally, supposedly, being released in February this year, after being delayed from late 2016. The second film was released in 2005, three years after the first Ring hit theaters in 2002. This new one picks up 13 years after the first film and it looks like it's just as freaky. Starring Laura Wiggins, Aimee Teegarden, Johnny Galecki, Lizzie Brocheré, Alex Roe, Zach Roerig, and Bonnie Morgan as Samara. Horror films in the winter usually do well, and I'm sure this one will find an audience - no matter how delayed it is. Here's the second official trailer (+ new poster) for F. Samara Morgan, the eight-year-old tormenter from The Ring franchise, ditches the video cassette and goes viral in the frightening first trailer for Rings, the long-awaited third installment in the franchise.
The clip opens with a young woman named Julia (Matilda Lutz) receiving the infamous and horrifying video in an e-mail, launching a hellish seven-day slog towards certain death. But as Julia peels the skin off her palm and pulls hair from her throat, the Rings clip also offers a peek at the story of Samara, the young girl unleashing all that terror.

Legend goes that upon laying eyes on the infamous videotape, it takes Samara exactly seven days to kill the hapless viewer. But for those horror fans frothing for the next installment in Paramount’s cult paranormal series, the wait for Rings has felt more like seven years.
First announced two years ago, F. Javier Gutiérrez’s long-in-development horror sequel has been delayed three separate times, leading many to question whether Samara would ever claw her way out of a static screen again. And though you’d be forgiven for harboring some apprehensions going into the release of Rings, a creepy new trailer has found its way online that teases a frightening return to the franchise’s dark, putrid roots. Told through the eyes of Samara, the footage essentially recaps the fundamental curse that anchors Paramount’s horror series, wherein viewers of that aforementioned tape are left staring at an accelerated death sentence.

Over a decade has passed since “The Ring Two,” which is an eternity in brand/IP time, so Paramount Pictures is hoping to revive their horror property with “Rings.” Whether or not a horror movie based around a videotape will resonate in the era of streaming remains to be seen, but perhaps a new generation will find something quaint in the notion.
Matilda Lutz, Alex Roe, Johnny Galecki, Aimee Teegarden, Bonnie Morgan and Vincent D’Onofrio star in the F.

Samara will be back to kill more people in her latest sequel Rings. We have a new poster featuring the character giving everything she's got to look as terrifying as possible. The thing is... we've seen it all before. People watch her amateur film school art project, and it's so bad that seven days later they die.
Don't get me wrong, I love this horror franchise, and the first film was freakin' great! I just don't think this new sequel is going to give us anything different from what we've already seen, except this one will use technology beyond VHS tapes.
Oh yeah! There's also going to be a new trailer coming this week!

If you thought we were done with videos that kill people, we were totally wrong. It's been over a decade since Hideo Nakata's The Ring 2 was released and that appears to be long enough for the stink to wear off the franchise because another entry is coming.
Directed by F. Javier Gutiérrez, the Spanish director responsible for the rather good apocalyptic Before the Fall (review), this new entry skips big name movie stars and casts a number of young up-and-comers in Matilda Lutz and Alex Roe. Along for the ride are Johnny Galecki (he of "The Big Bang Theory" fame), Aimee Teegarden, Bonnie Morgan and the always excellent Vincent D'Onofrio.

The Ring released in 2002, followed by The Ring 2 in 2005. It has been ten years since a sequel has been released for this series. Now, director F. Javier Gutierrez and Paramount Pictures have debuted a trailer for Rings. Scheduled for an October launch, Rings brings back a curse. Anyone who watches a devilish tape - will die in seven days. The first trailer for the film is here. The synopsis begins and ends with Julia (Matilda Anna Ingrid Lutz). She investigates a dark underworld, after her boyfriend watches a mysterious tape. She sacrifices herself to save him. But, this latest tape is something more: a "movie within a movie." The first trailer for Rings is a good one. It shows Samara (Bonnie Morgan) emerging from a flatscreen. Meanwhile, Julia is struggling with the curse as a coil of hair emerges from her mouth. There are all sorts of dark nasties in this preview clip.

"You've opened up a door... And now no one is safe." Paramount has released the first full trailer for Rings, the third film in the Ring series, originally a remake of the Japanese horror film. The second film was released back in 2005, three years after the first Ring hit theaters in 2002. This new one picks up 13 years after the first film and it's just as creepy. The cast includes Laura Wiggins, Aimee Teegarden, Johnny Galecki, Lizzie Brocheré, Alex Roe, Zach Roerig, and Bonnie Morgan as Samara. This looks like another eerie entry in the horror series. The blind man giving her information is pretty cool, I just hope the rest of it is actually good. The plane sequence at the end is also cool, but I think that's the opening scene. It’s been over a decade since The Ring franchise last haunted our screens, but it’s now back this Halloween with Rings. After Gore Verbinski helmed the 2002 remake hit, then the original Ringu director Hideo Nakata took on the sequel, it’s now been handed to F. Javier Gutierrez (Before the Fall). Ahead of an October release, the first trailer has landed.
While we aren’t exactly clamoring for a new entry into the franchise, there is a plethora of haunting imagery in the trailer, from bleeding television sets to a hairball to end all hairballs to a bumpy plane ride. Check out the trailer below for the film starring Matilda Lutz, Alex Roe, Johnny Galecki, Aimee Teegarden, Bonnie Morgan, and Vincent D’Onofrio.

When the The Ring first hit theatres back in 2002, it was something of a horror phenomenon. Telling the story of a mysterious videotape that killed anyone who watched it, the Naomi Watts-starring film brought in $249.3 million at the box office and spawned a rather mediocre sequel. Still, the hunger for more from the franchise never quite died down and now, Paramount is back with Rings.
Starring Matilda Lutz, Alex Roe, Johnny Galecki, Aimee Teegarden, Bonnie Morgan and Vincent D’Onofrio, the first trailer for the threequel dropped tonight and as expected, it’s awfully creepy and promises a chilling ride. Continuing on with what we saw in the last two films, both Samara and the mysterious videotape are back for more fun, except this time, it’s discovered that “there is a “movie within the movie” that no one has ever seen before.”

Kicking off this year’s New York City Horror Film Festival was Robert Hall’s Fear Clinic, an ambitious nightmarescape about facing your fears and conquering your darkest demons. Everyone’s favorite dreamland killer, Robert Englund, stars as a crazy doctor who forces people to hallucinate whatever terrifies them most while being sealed in a gigantic chamber, yet Englund himself cannot carry such an unbalanced jumble of ideas.
Fear Clinic delivers non-stop terror if your biggest fears include seeing Robert Englund naked, entering an epileptic seizure, and black goo, while true horrors seem to escape Hall’s grasp throughout what seems to be a never-ending experiment. Getting from point A to point B is quite possibly one of the wildest cinematic rides I’ve taken in 2014, but for all the wrong reasons.
As most horror movies start, we meet a scientist named Dr. Andover (Englund) who wants to help the world with his newest invention.
