There are a lot of iconic video game soundtracks, but none are quite as magical as Fallout’s. There’s a strange alchemy to the way the franchise pairs its ultra-violent combat and desolate, post-apocalyptic setting with wistful mid-century ditties. The music isn’t a mere accompaniment to the gameplay; it’s the beating heart of the series and has made the games so enduring and beloved they’ve spawned an Amazon Prime TV show. In other words, without its licensed soundtrack, Fallout wouldn’t be the phenomenon it’s become.
The franchise’s musical identity has taken over 27 years to develop and evolve, but the ‘50s post-war sentiment of blissful optimism quivering under the looming threat of nuclear war that is felt throughout the series was established in the first game.

A while back, we had mentioned that indie studio The Brotherhood was working on a follow up to their isometric overhead horror game Stasis with Bone Totem. Fans will be pleased to learn that Stasis: Bone Totem is out now on Steam, and until June 7, sports a 20% discount.
Touted as “Alien meets Disco Elysium underwater”, Bone Totem follows Mac and Charlie, a husband-and-wife team of nautical salvagers who stumble upon Deepsea 15, a seemingly abandoned Cayne Corporation rig in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. You quickly find out just why the rig has been abandoned, and why the Cayne Corporation will do anything to keep what’s held in the rig hidden.
Gameplay for Bone Totem features the same isometric, point-and-click gameplay that made Stasis a classic fan favorite. It also features a score by Mark Morgan, whose scored the first Stasis game, as well as Dark Seed II, Fallout,...

It’s obvious to say that the Fallout series has come a long way since it first hit PCs back in 1997. The series’ appeal has grown considerably since that time, as has the RPG genre itself. Still, even with the modern entries and their appeal, there will always be something special about the original Fallout games by Interplay and their internal development division, Black Isle Studios. While not outright horror, there was enough grittiness in the original Fallout, not to mention the over-the-top violence, dark humour and horror elements, that appealed to those looking for something bleaker with their roleplaying games. It’s that bleakness that still keeps players coming back all these years later.
The events preceding Fallout had a global nuclear war devastating the world and destroying modern civilization in October 2077. Those who survived the war took shelter in underground Vaults. Nearly a century later, you are the Vault Dweller,...

Updated with full list of winners: Netflix’s Aaron Sorkin drama The Trial of the Chicago 7 won the marquee Best Edited Feature Film (Dramatic) honor Saturday to cap the American Cinema Editors’ 71st annual Ace Eddie Awards.
Alan Baumgarten, Ace, edited the pic, about the unrest around the 1968 Democratic National Convention. It puts him and the film in frontrunner status in the Best Film Editing Oscar race, where it is competing against fellow Ace nominees Nomadland and Sound of Metal along with Promising Young Woman and The Father.
Baumgarten in his virtual acceptance speech thanked Sorkin for his “enthusiasm for editing — it was a pleasure to collaborate with you.” He also thanks his wife, with a nod to the pandemic: “I think myself, and as everybody understands, I brought the work home literally — thank you for your patience and understanding.”
Chicago 7 is up for six Oscars this year including Best Picture.

The latest Senate hearing facing the CEOs of Twitter and Facebook played out as expected: Republicans complained that the platforms were too aggressive in their moderation practices; Democrats suggested that they have been too lenient to control the flow of misinformation.
That was particularly true as Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-ca), the ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, queried Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey and Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg about President Donald Trump’s false claims that he won the election and of mass voter fraud.
“On November 7th, President Trump tweeted this, ‘I won this election by a lot.’ That is obviously not true. President Trump lost the election. The warning label that Twitter applied to the tweet says, ‘Official sources may not have called the race when this was tweeted. Does that label do enough to prevent the tweet’s harms when the tweet is still visible and is not accurate?...

Twitter has suspended US Customs and Border Protection (Cbp) Commissioner Mark Morgan for praising the construction of a wall along the Mexican border.
The social media giant flagged the post as a violation of their “hateful conduct” policy. The action comes a day after Twitter restored the New York Post’s official account after suspending it for two weeks over its reporting on Hunter Biden and his impact on father Joe Biden’s presidential candidacy.
Acting Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf sent a letter to Twitter protesting Morgan’s suspension,
“As the Department of Homeland Security (Dhs) and other Federal agencies continue to rely on Twitter to share important information with the US public, your censorship poses a threat to our security,” Wolf wrote in a letter to Twitter boss Jack Dorsey.
Morgan wrote in his tweet, “Every mile helps us stop gang members, murderers, sexual predators, and drugs from entering our country.

We are in the near future, and in the “United States of Europe” thanks to Brexit, apparently. House Democrats, voting nearly in unison Tuesday night, countered human rights abuses worthy of the Hague’s attention with more words and money. It looks like we're in for a very unique monster mash, as The Wrap report that Outlier and their new production partner Pathbender have acquired film and TV rights for the graphic novel Savage, which was created and co-written by Jeff Frank and 30 Days Of Night's Steve Niles. As it goes, Variety reports that Legendary Pictures are putting some stock in Slayer, an action spec from Martin Helgeland (son of L.A. Confidential scribe Brian Helgeland).
Set in the modern day, this story revolves around a doctor who, in the wake of his father’s death, somehow discovers his own dragon-slaying heritage. (Most people only get the deed to a house.) The scribe’s father will executive produce, while Warner Bros. is expected to distribute.
Next up, Variety also tells us that — in a wonderful case of consistent naming — Black Forest Film Group have attained rights to the spec script Black River.

Black Forest Film Group has acquired the spec script Black River, a psychological thriller from Ransom Riggs, the author of New York Times bestseller "Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children," reports Variety. "'Black River' follows a small-town girl who has been haunted by a dead girl's spirit ever since her own near-fatal accident. When she goes off to college and her friends begin to die, she must uncover the dark secret of the dead girl's fate." Black Forest's founding partners Mark Morgan (The Twilight Saga), Kami Garcia (Beautiful Creatures), E. Thompson (Rites of Spring) and Brett Hudson (Black Forest: Hansel and Gretel & the 420 Witch) will produce the pic, which Riggs will co-exec produce.

Feature Adaptation Planned For Keary Taylor’s ‘Eden’; Described as ‘Hunger Games’ Meets ‘Terminator’
The success of Suzanne Collins’ young adult fantasy series The Hunger Games, as well as the highly anticipated March release of its film adaptation, has the industry clamoring to cash in on the newest teen pop culture obsession: strong-willed dystopian heroines.
It was announced this week that the independent production company Kerry, Kimmel and Pollack (Kk&P) purchased the film rights to the post-apocalyptic novel Eden by Keary Taylor. The story follows Eve (of course), a teenage girl struggling unravel the secrets of her past in a futuristic world where all but two percent of the human population was wiped out by killer robots. The similarities to Collins’s literary hit seem to end with the female protagonist, but that hasn’t stopped it from being marketed as a “cross between The Hunger Games and The Terminator.” [Variety]

Previously, Director Duncan Jones explored the moon with Sam Rockwell in 2009′s appropriately titled independent hit Moon. Now, Jones (son of David Bowie) has brought his science-fiction imagination to a location that holds its own beauty and mystery, Chicago.
His latest film, Source Code, which stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Michelle Monaghan, Vera Famiga and Jeffrey Wright, was shot in and around the Windy City. Not only does it feature shots of Chicago’s skyline, but it also features shots of the city’s unsung hero, the Metra line. For all of you midwesterners, be sure to look out for the Downer’s Grove, Skokie, Lagrange, Lagrange Park and Orland Park Metra stops when you catch Source Code when it opens on Friday, April 1st.
And for all of you that have visited Chicago before -- yes, there’s also a shot from inside the city’s curious tourist attraction, the Bean.

Hollywoodnews.com: The “Twilight Saga” films have made billions upon billions of dollars worldwide wince making the leap from page to screen. Now the woman who claims to have “discovered” the literary property as a potential movie franchise wants a bigger slice of the pie.
Nanette Shipley filed a lawsuit filed earlier this week claiming that she worked as a “literary scout” for Maverick Films and helped obtain the rights to two major film properties – “Twilight” and “Percy Jackson and The Lightning Thief.” THR reports that Shipley was promised $75,000 for her work in regarding “Twilight,” and $100,000 for “Thief.” To date, she says she only has been paid $20,000, so she wants the balance.
Mark Morgan took over Maverick in 2008, relaunching it as Imprint Entertainment. He helped set up “Twilight” at “Summit” and shipped “Percy Jackson” to Fox, where both properties thrived.

Another still from highly anticipated vampire drama movie "The Twilight Saga's New Moon" has just been released by Fangoria. The shot captures werewolf Jacob Black, the character portrayed by Taylor Lautner, jumping out of the bedroom window of Kristen Stewart's Bella Swan. Getting shirtless during the visit, the 17-year-old heartthrob is captured showing off his muscular body and a wolf pack tribe tattoo on his right arm.
Recently, Taylor Lautner and Kristen Stewart were also featured in several photos from the "Twilight" sequel. In one particular pic that will be included in "The Twilight Saga: New Moon--The Official Illustrated Movie Companion", which was scanned by Ralphy137, Lautner is snapped drawing his face closer to Stewart's as if he wants to kiss her. Sure, David Harris wants to slaughter his new stepfamily. But according to Dylan Walsh, the actor who plays the murderous psycho in the upcoming remake of The Stepfather, Harris is not that bad a guy. He’s just…got issues.
"He's stiff, and I imagine he's had these different families, and he's tried different things," Walsh said in an interview with Sci Fi Wire. "There's a repertoire of tricks, and they hadn't worked before, and he's trying to make this one work. That's what his flaw is: He's caught up in this old-fashioned way. He's well-meaning. It's just that he wants to control every facet of it."
"He's got this 1950s thing. He demands to be the head of the family, and what he says rules," Wash added.

Twilight is a “film of vision” … um, really? Average reviews, and it didn’t explode at the box office, with a lot of staying power. I’m not saying the film doesn’t have a huge following but doesn’t that come down to two things … the novel (a fun read) and Robert Pattison (from what I here, he’s a looker). As always, awards are nice, and those who made the film should feel honored, but let’s hope The Twilight Saga: New Moon steps it up a notch. Here’s the news release.
“Twilight” will be hailed as a “film of vision” at the 36th annual Vision Awards, to be held June 27 at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills.
The event also will honor such entertainment figures as Lawrence Bender, Jim Walton, Matthew Weiner, Ian Sander, Kim Moses, Diane Ladd, Shonda Rimes, Jillian Michaels and Stephen Nemeth.

The results are in and sadly, not everyone goes home with an award. But they do probably all go home in some sort of limo — or a hybrid because stars love to be politically correct. Still, even though some people had to lose, the 2009 MTV Movie Awards was a night filled with fun, celebs and lots of great clips from movies past, present and future.

Entertainment Weekly releases three new pictures taken from "The Twilight Saga's New Moon". In a photo, the film's leading actor Robert Pattinson is seen kissing his co-star Kristen Stewart. Both of them are practicing their roles as a couple, Edward Cullen and Bella Swan.
One particular shot shows Kristen posing with Edi Gathegi, who portrays vampire Laurent on the flick. Talking about the pic, Edi says, ''I'm telling Bella not to be fearful of death. It's inevitable and painless. He was bad in 'Twilight', but still had some compassion. Let's just say he's not conflicted anymore.''
Entertainment Weekly also releases a photo from the set of the movie. The director of "New Moon", Chris Weitz, is spotted directing Kristen, who acts to have been thrown against a rose-covered table by her lover Edward.
"The Twilight Saga's New Moon" is produced by Mark Morgan in association with Summit Entertainment. It is scheduled to hit U.

Pierce Brosnan, Uma Thurman, Sean Bean, Kevin McKidd and Melina Kanakaredes are heading to Mount Olympus.
The quintet has been cast in Fox 2000's fantasy-adventure adaptation "Percy Jackson" as classical Greek gods Chiron (Brosnan), Medusa (Thurman), Zeus (Bean), Poseidon (McKidd) and Athena (Kanakaredes). Aries, Hades and Persephone have not yet been cast.
