Cinematographer turned director Laxman Utekar’s ‘Zara Hatke Zara Bachke’ can be termed as a slice-of-life romantic comedy. Three (Hindi) film old Laxman’s previous two – Luka Chuppi & Mimi also fall in the light comedy genre. With a title like this one, one would but expect a comedy again. However, once you are through with the film, the title might ring a bell and might connect with the plot. It does try to profess what it says with a lighthearted rom com that leaves you with a subtle understanding about the life and its twists.
Plot
The plot revolves around the lives of Kapil (Vicky Kaushal) and his wife Saumya (Sara Ali Khan). It all begins with their 2nd marriage anniversary when the vegetarian cake turns out not to be so, and all hell breaks. Within minutes the viewers are served with a masaledar story until that point in time.

Sniff!!!
Starring Khushmeet Gill, Manmeet Singh, Surekha Sikri, Sushmita Mukherjee
Directed by Amole Gupte
The best thing about Sniff!!! are the wonderful children—God bless their untarnished souls—who play detectives to a car thief in a Mumbai housing city.
But wait. This is much later. This is where our interest in the goings-on begins to flag. The minute Sunny Gill (the wonderfully solemn and wise Khushmeet) turns super-snooper the plot loses its flexibility and momentum and falls prey to a kind of hushed rush of juvenile activities that don’t really add up to much.
But this absence of a hefty payoff is not what we are looking for or missing in this film. Straight out, Sniff!!! is a charming ode to the tastebuds and the olfactory nerves, both co-related as one gives you a yummy feeling in the mouth and the other in the nose.

Brutal yet sensitively rendered, putting a human face, if a fictional one, on an issue that rarely gets one. Almost Dickens for the 21st century. I’m “biast” (pro): I’m desperate for movies about girls and women
I’m “biast” (con): nothing
I have not read the source material
(what is this about? see my critic’s minifesto)
A movie based on a young-adult novel about child sex trafficking? Oh dear. But Sold is… Well, it’s not exactly a newsflash that there are children in the world who are sex slaves, nor that there are men in the world who will pay to rape children. Sold is hardly entertaining in the way that we generally mean when we talk about movies. Perhaps the best word to describe this brutal yet sensitively rendered film is enlightening, for putting a human face, if a fictional one, on an issue that rarely gets one.

Phir Se... poster is out and it has nothing new to offer us!
The poster of Kunal Kohli hugging TV actress Jennifer Winget reminds one of the Anjaana Anjaani poster in which Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra shared a similar pose!
If the Anjaana Anjaani poster presented New York City during winters, Phir Se... has a backdrop of London in the same weather.
While Anjaana Anjaani was a story about two people leaving on a journey together and eventually finding love in each other, Phir Se... promises to be a story of divorced couple who fall in love once again.
Directed by Kunal Kohli and Ajay Bhuyan, Phir Se... stars Kunal Kohli, Jennifer Winget, Rajit Kapoor, Dalip Tahil, Kanwaljeet Singh and Sushmita Mukherjee in pivotal roles and is slated for May 8 release.

There may be no human rights issue in the modern world that is harder to visualize than the enslavement and sale of children, but that is story told in Sold, which is now having its European premiere at the London Indian Film Festival after opening in Los Angles earlier this year. Based on Patricia McCormick’s book of the same title and compiled based on real-life stories, Sold is a hard-hitting but hope filled saga of a young girl named Lakshmi who is sold into a prison brothel. Through her eyes, we experience her horrors but also the moments of goodness and hope that give her the courage to ultimately escape. It is a powerful tale, and the film and the issues it exposes has changed the lives of everyone involved.
Yesterday we heard from Producer Jane Charles about Sold and now I would like to present...

There are some films that are just more than the images onscreen and Sold is one of those films. It not only takes you on the journey of Lakshmi, a thirteen-year-old Nepali girl who is sold into prostitution in India, and her tale of survival, escape and hope, it also puts you in the middle of the global issue of human trafficking.
Sold, based on the book by Patricia McCormick, was directed by Jeffrey D Brown and produced by Jane Charles. The film also had noted actress Emma Thompson on board as exectuive producer. Featuring Gillian Anderson and David Arquette, the film also boasts a cast that includes Seema Biswas, Sushmita Mukerjee, Tillotama Shome, Parambrata Chatterjee, Priyanka Bose, Ankur Vikal and many others. Sold has been creating a buzz and moving people to act at festivals in La and Albuquerque and the next stop is the London Indian Film Festival.

Mira Nair's "Monsoon Wedding" proved it once for all. Only Greek weddings need not be big and fat, Punjabi Indian weddings don't lag far behind either.
Bollywood has over the years developed a peculiar partiality towards romantic-comedies set during wedding celebrations. Aditya Chopra's "Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge" did it too. And got away with.

Leaving an indelible mark as a film-maker to bring women-centric issues into the limelight, his films such as Humara Dil Aapke Ke Pass Hai, Hum Aapke Dil Mein Rehte Hain and many more have become iconic of our times.
And yet again he has touched upon a sensitive issue of an unmarried kid girl in his forthcoming film ‘Tere Sang’; which stars himself, Ruslaan Mumtaz, Raja Kapoor, Neena Gupta, Sushmita Mukherjee and a new face named Sheena.
