- Craggy character actor, best known on screen as the humourless, tough, by-the-book Lt. Ben Scanlon, perfect comic foil for the crew of Barney Miller (1975); on stage as Judge Julius Hoffman in the L.A. Odyssey Theatre production of "The Chicago Conspiracy Trial" (1979).
