Of all the roles that Bill Murray has played in his career, Ernie McCracken is easily in my top five. The funny thing is that Bill Murray is rarely if ever upstaged in a movie. I’m not saying anyone upstaged Murray in Kingpin but I will say that something did: His hair. I don’t think I’ve ever laughed as hard in the theater as I did during the final showdown between he and Woody Harrelson in that film. Speaking of the final showdown, there’s a little known fact about the last 3 strikes that Bill Murry rolls. According to Uproxx’s

It's Groundhog Day and as Punxsutawney Phil fans know everybody's favorite woodchuck did not see his shadow meaning, in theory, that Spring will come early. Yes, snow-covered America, I hear your incredulous groan. According to a new study by Nielsen Media Research that wouldn't be such good news for TV execs. The people behind your favorite programming would probably prefer that the bad weather of today get caught up in the Bill Murry version of a Groundhog Day infinite loop because, you guessed it, more people tend to watch TV when the weather is bad. If that statement maxed out on your 'well duh' meter don't give up hope for enlightenment, because Nielsen has done what they do best and put some actual numbers behind an otherwise banal observation. Of course people watch more TV when they are trapped in their homes, but did you know exactly how much? Now you will.

Many fans of Zombieland 2 enjoyed the cameo of Bill Murry who pretended to be a zombie in and commented on regretting his involvement in the movie Garfield.
The sequel is planned to be shot in 3D and most people have surmised that the film will have another star cameo roll.
According to Bloody Disgusting "Columbia Pictures is planning yet another "superstar cameo" searching for someone iconic along the lines of "Harrison Ford" or "Anthony Hopkins". In addition, the script calls for a lead villain with comedic roots, while Tallahassee (played by Woody Harrelson) will find himself going head-to-head with a "hunky rival". Jesse Eisenberg is the only other star officially attached at this point, but expect some casting news soon."
We'd like to see someone like Daniel Day Lewis or Gary Oldman. It will be interesting to see who they find. We'll keep you posted on any further developments.

Despite constant rumors to the contrary, there's still been no progress on getting a Ghostbusters 3 actually made, with directors shuffling in and out and the script getting rewritten and, oh yeah, the original Ghostbusters balking at every turn. While Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis always seem happy to suit up for another go-round, the sticking point has always been Bill Murray, a guy who has been more of a professional pain in the ass than an actor for the last decade. (Hey, more power to him. He's earned the right to ignore us) Now gossip of Murray's stubbornness has reached so far as a segment on the Howard Stern show. As recapped by Bloody Disgusting, National Enquirer gossip columnist Mike Walker visited Howard Stern and updated him on the behind-the-scenes drama of Ghostbusters 3: "Dan Aykroyd called 'ol pal and Ghostbusters co-star Bill Murry and snarled 'stop acting like a jerk',...

We've all heard the talk, the rumors, the this, the that, and everything in between; yet, the question beckons ... what the hell is up with Ghostbusters 3? Will it ever happen? Some more finger pointing has been done regarding the reason for the holdups, and now said fingers are all pointing straight at star Bill Murray.
During his regular appearance on The Howard Stern show to play his gossip game, National Enquirer columnist Mike Walker dropped the following news on fans. Thanks to Bloody Disgusting for the handy transcribing!
"Dan Aykroyd called 'ol pal and Ghostbusters co-star Bill Murry and snarled 'stop acting like a jerk'," Walker reported. "Murray, despite agreeing to doing the film, has suddenly turned so cranky and mean, he refuses to answer phone calls."
Said a source, "Producers gave Bill script approval needed for his cooperation, but that can't even seem to get him on the phone to talk about the script.

In an interview with Ivan Reitman, MTV confirmed what has been assumed all along: That Reitman -- who produced and directed the first two Ghostbusters movie -- will return to direct the third.
Awesome, right? A huge sigh of relief. Whew! Team Reitman! That's what I'm talking about!
... woah ... wait a second, back up. Let's first consider the evidence before we get too excited.
First of all, as great as the original Ghostbusters was (and to a lesser extent -- a much lesser extent, the sequel), Ivan Reitman hasn't actually made a particularly good movie since Ghostbusters, save for the fairly entertaining Dave, with Kevin Kline. In fact, Reitman has made some spectacularly bad movies since that time, including Father's Day, My Super Ex-Girlfriend, Six Days, Seven Nights and Evolution. There's a reason, as we reported two years ago, that the script for Ghostbusters 3 was originally written behind Reitman's back...
