When “Extra” interviewed Harrison Ford at his “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” premiere in June, the show was proceeding as usual: The actor, the reporter, the branded microphone, the cameras. Then suddenly everything changed — “Everything Everywhere All at Once” Oscar-winner Ke Huy Quan bounded into the frame and reunited with his co-star from 1984’s “Temple of Doom.” The moment went viral, and “Extra” had another feather in its cap.
Once in a lifetime get? Not if you’re “Extra.” For the past 30 years, the syndicated entertainment news show has made its business chronicling every cultural event. There is the episode with Burt Reynolds, shot in the studio parking lot following a blackout; segments featuring a 19-year-old Taylor Swift singing; and a young Kim Kardashian vacuuming her family’s store. More recently, the show can point to host Billy Bush — who jumped time zones in a day to go...

Fourth Update, 12:57 Pm Pt: President Joe Biden told reporters that “the core of who we are is not divided,” but also warned that the polarization in the country was bolstering authoritarians who believe that democracy cannot survive in the 21st century. “Are we going to in the next four, five six ten years demonstrate that democracies can work or not,” Biden said. He praised President George W. Bush’s speech, which focused on the national unity that followed 9/11 and the threat of current division. He also defended the decision to exit Afghanistan and the way that the withdrawal was carried out. “Can al Qaeda come back? Yes, but it’s already back other places,” Biden said. “What’s the strategy? Every place where al Qaeda is we are going to have troops there? Come on.” “As I read it, I am told, 70 percent of the American people think it...

Trump complained vociferously about the way he is treated by Fox News during his interview with Rush Limbaugh, and if he happens to catch some of what the network’s weekend hosts said following his Covid-19 super spreader event at the White House on Saturday, the ‘roided-up president might just blow a gasket.
Before tossing to a panel discussion about how the president performed today, host Arthel Neville gave it to Fox viewers straight by saying that Trump went out of his way to cajole some of the people of color in the crowd,...

Over the course of his presidency, President Donald Trump has hurled invective at any number of TV journalists, whether it be Don Lemon, Arthel Neville, Neil Cavuto, Nicolle Wallace, Brian Williams, Chris Cuomo, Leland Vittert, Peter Alexander, Yamiche Alcindor, Weija Jiang, Jon Karl or Paula Reid. But he seems to launch his worst material at Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski.
Trump’s continued efforts to stir up debunked conspiracy theories about a former staffer in Scarborough’s Florida congressional office represent just his latest attempt to smear the news hosts. In 2018, some people may recall – it’s hard to do given the sheer volume of White House name-calling – Trump prompted shock when he made remarks about Brzezinski’s appearance. “Crazy Mika” and “Psycho Joe” are phrases he has tried to make common, even though the hosts have with Willie Geist maintained one of the longest-running anchor teams on a national morning-news program?...

President Donald Trump hasn't been happy with Fox News lately. Last month, the president attacked network anchors Shepard Smith, Arthel Neville and Leland Vittert.
"Were @FoxNews weekend anchors, @ArthelNeville and @LelandVittert, trained by CNN prior to their ratings collapse?" he wrote on Twitter on March 17. "In any event, that’s where they should be working, along with their lowest rated anchor, Shepard Smith!"
On Tuesday, he made clear that he was unhappy with the network's decision to host Sen. Bernie Sanders — a Democratic presidential candidate — for a town hall Monday night. The event ...

President Trump tweeted 50 times over the weekend, posting 20 times on Saturday, and 30 times on Sunday. Between his first tweets on Saturday morning (clips of Lou Dobbs interviewing Diamond & Silk and a former Ice director) and his last on Sunday night (“Make America Great Again!”), Trump took his followers on a whirlwind tour of his feverish obsession with himself and the media. He praised his own accomplishments, mostly his Friday veto of a congressional resolution terminating his national emergency declaration, and those touting his resolve on cable news. At the same time,...

Fox News issued an on-air apology today after one of its guests compared former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to herpes during a broadcast.
Anna Paulina, Turning Point USA’s director of hispanic engagement, appeared along with political analyst Doug Schoen to discuss a favorite Fox News topic, Clinton’s deleted emails.
Host Rick Leventhal made an offhand remark about how Clinton remains in the news, prompting Paulina’s caustic remark.
“She won’t go away. She’s like herpes,” Paulina said, causing Leventhal to appear stunned.
“Ok, that is news that we are breaking here,” Leventhal responded. “Not appropriate.”
Paulina disappeared from the segment, which was cut short with Leventhal apologizing to the viewers for “some of the language used in the segment.”
Fox News anchor Arthel Neville extended a separate Thanksgiving Day apology to Clinton.

Blue Bloods’ Jennifer Esposito blasted CBS TV Studios for putting her on medical leave in an interview today with Fox News Channel. “What happened was ugliness,” the actress told Fnc’s Arthel Neville in a segment scheduled to run on Fox Files tonight. CBS TV Studios made their decision after Esposito’s doctor advised the actress, who has been diagnosed with Celiac disease, to reduce her work load. Here’s more of what Esposito had to say about what happened: Last week I believe I was told I was on suspension, which meant I am still in contract, not being paid, because that’s suspension and they illegally stopped paying. And I am not able to work on any other TV show, on network. I can do a film or a Broadway or something on cable that doesn’t go in the ten o’clock time slot. So they kept...

Last month, Jennifer Esposito returned to the set of "Blue Bloods" after taking medical leave for celiac disease to discover she had been laid off. Now, she's still fuming over CBS' decision to let her go.
The actress, who played Donnie Wahlberg's partner Detective Jackie Curatola on the drama, was written off the show in October after she collapsed on the set due to her medical issues. But when she returned to work, her job was no longer available.
In an interview airing on Nov. 18 with Fox News Channel's Arthel Neville, Esposito opens up about what really went down. "I have been in the business for 20 years. There has been so many [types] of injustice in this business, but it's what you sign up for; it is what it is," Esposito explains to Neville. "This, though, is something that is not about me. This is about a disease that people don't understand.

Debbie Matenopoulos, co-host of the nationally syndicated morning program Good Day Live, was injured late Wednesday while taping a segment on firefighters, the program's distributor Twentieth Television said in a statement Thursday morning. "Ms. Matenopoulos injured herself at Los Angeles Fire Department station 11 in downtown Los Angeles, where, while attempting to perform a training exercise, she landed incorrectly on a landing airbag after a 'practice fall' from a three-story building," the statement said. "She was immediately attended to by LAFD paramedics on-site and rushed to a nearby hospital, where Ms. Matenopoulos was examined and observed for a possible concussion and head trauma." She is expected to make a full recovery. Matenopoulos' co-host Arthel Neville was also on location, but wasn't injured. The duo joined Good Day Live on Aug. 30.

Arthel Neville has left CNN, the network confirmed, four months after canceling her daily afternoon show Talk Back Live prior to the war in Iraq. A CNN spokesman said that Neville "wanted to pursue other interests." Neville joined CNN in October 2002 after serving as a sidekick to Fox News Channel's Bill O'Reilly on The O'Reilly Factor. She also worked as a general assignment reporter at a Texas TV station.
