Tom Hardy and Michael Shannon are set to star in a film adaptation of "Hung" writer/producer Brett C. Leonard's play "The Long Red Road" at Whipsmart reports Variety.
Hardy plays Sam, an alcoholic living on a South Dakota Indian reservation. When a visitor from his past arrives, Sam has to take a hard look at the life he left behind.
Shannon is set to play Sam's older brother. Hardy played the role in the 2010 Chicago stage production of the work which was directed by Philip Seymour Hoffman. No word if Hoffman will direct this film adaptation.
Paul Neesan and Richard Fant will produce.

Dakota Fanning has been caught by Charlotte's Web. The young actress will star in Paramount Pictures' adaptation of E.B. White's classic children's tale. Gary Winick is directing the live-action/CG-animated pic in which a young farm girl teams up with a spider named Charlotte to save a pig named Wilbur from the butcher's block. Paramount, Nickelodeon Movies and Walden Media are co-financing and producing. Jordan Kerner and his Kerner Entertainment banner also produce. Susannah Grant and Karey Kirkpatrick wrote the screenplay. Executive producing are Kerner topper Paul Neesan along with Nickelodeon's Julia Pistor. Paramount production president Karen Rosenfelt oversees. A late January start date in Melbourne, Australia, is being eyed.

Karey Kirkpatrick has been brought in to revise the adaptation -- written by Susannah Grant -- of E.B. White's classic.
