Akin to "Psycho," the earth-shattering reveal in the closing moments of "Planet of the Apes" became so ingrained into the pop culture lexicon that most folks became aware of it before they even saw the film. There's a part of me that can't fully separate the actual ending from that episode of "The Simpsons" where Troy McClure (Phil Hartman) transforms the gut punch into a bombastic musical number. But I suppose that speaks to how influential this movie was, especially in the realm of science-fiction cinema.
Over five decades since its 1968 theatrical release, "Planet of the Apes," which sees American astronaut George Taylor (Charlton Heston) crash land on an Earth system dominated by talking primates, has led to over four sequels, two reboots, and two television series, with a new feature film on the way. In many respects, this could have easily fallen into B-movie schlock, but the sharp script...

Forgotten amid Robert Aldrich’s more critic-friendly movies is this superb suspense picture, an against-all-odds thriller that pits an old-school pilot against a push-button young engineer with his own kind of male arrogance. Can a dozen oil workers and random passengers ‘invent’ their way out of an almost certain death trap? It’s a late-career triumph for James Stewart, at the head of a sterling ensemble cast. I review a UK disc in the hope of encouraging a new restoration.

Below, you’ll find some video and photos of 16-year-old artist Lara Wirth all decked out as some awesomely bizarre and unique monsters. She is a self-taught body painting artist, who has some pretty impressive skills and a wild imagination. There are some very creepy creature designs here, but there are also some beautifully cool ones as well. This is some great work, and I think you’re really going to like some of these creations.
So today I became a blue monster. Yep. That's pretty much it. Enjoy!! Inspired by @elinsfxmakeup her work is all so amazing so go check it out :) tutorial is on my YouTube for this look :)

Something very strange has been going on at the Acme Theatre these last few weeks. Some…Thing! Sci-Fi Fest La was back for a second year, and it was better than ever! Bringing together actors old and new, the program featured a series of one-act plays, most of which were specifically written for the event. Even genre icons Clive Barker and Neil Gaiman were eager to donate stories!
The program started with a play titled A Billion Tuesdays. A mentally disabled man creates a device that alters reality to varying degrees based on the number of times you click the button, leading to realities involving zombie apocalypses, futuristic technology, and even a “what if the Nazis had won” scenario. By the end of the play, it’s apparent that the father intends for his daughter to use the device to alter his condition, but she remains adamant about her love for him and refuses.

On eating a Big Mac:
"The only thing around was McDonald's. I think I ordered a Big Mac. Wow, my body did not react well to that! It was like putting gasoline in a purified system. I am always trying to eat organic and natural foods, so that just made my stomach turn and made me feel terrible. And I think what you put in your body, as well as stress, is reflected in the quality of your skin."

Park, No RecreationThe logistics of working at smaller theatersActors who perform in L.A.-area theaters under the Actors' Equity Association 99-Seat Plan aren't going to get rich doing so. Yet, as they practice their craft, it's a happy occasion when there are certain comforts or amenities available along the way.But finding safe and convenient parking can be a challenge, particularly in areas like the North Hollywood theater district, where boulevard meters require payment up until 8 p.m. and side-street parking is scarce. Meters requiring money at night are now prevalent in other areas too, including many Hollywood neighborhoods. Some companies, such as Hollywood's Actors Co-op, the Sierra Madre Playhouse, and Pasadena's Theatre @ Boston Court provide free parking for audiences, actors, and other theater workers at or near the building. Macha Theatre in West Hollywood has limited free parking. Other situations vary widely. Yet, where there's a will, there's always a way.

Blood Energy Potion might not be a descriptive-enough name for the little plastic bag of red liquid that showed up on my doorstep. It’s a beverage poised between energy drinks and vampire-themed novelties, skewing to the latter with a container designed to resemble an IV bag and an ad campaign addressing "control of your blood-lust." The idea is that if you have a craving to drink another human being’s blood, maybe instead of devoting yourself to the extensive planning required to stay out of jail for it, you should take a breath and suck some of this instead.
Having had a mouthful of everything from the soft-drink version of Tru Blood (Capsule review: ever make your own soda when you were a kid using seltzer water and orange juice? Tastes like that) to Ben Nye’S Edible Prop Blood (to quote The Lady Aye, “Tastes like hell and mint,...
