Stars: Robert Miano, Benjamin Philip, Silvia Spross, Cyril O’Reilly, Rico E. Anderson, Kurt Bonzell, Jon Budinoff, Scott Vogel, Timothy Muskatell, Roger Garcia, Elli Rahn | Written and Directed by Chad Ferrin
Chad Ferrin, director of the outrageous fun Exorcism at 60,000 Feet follows up his 2020 foray into the world of H.P. Lovecraft, The Deep Ones, with The Old Ones – an even truer take on the work of Lovecraft than ever before, including the likes of Captain Marsh, Cthulhu and R’lyeh.
Speaking of Captain Marsh, The Old Ones sees two fishermen, Dan Gordon (Scott Vogel) and his son Gideon (Benjamin Philip), pull an old man out of the water. He turns out to be Marsh, who explains that he’s been kept alive for the past 93 years as a vessel of the Great Old One and then sacrificed to the same gods by the cult of worshippers – as seen in this film’s animated intro.

Another Lovecraft-inspired horror movie is on the way, with our friends over at Rue Morgue debuting the trailer for director Chad Ferrin’s upcoming indie The Old Ones this week.
Breaking Glass Pictures will summon The Old Ones on VOD March 19, 2024.
You can watch the official trailer for The Old Ones below, which previews an impressive array of old school practical effects that should make this low budget effort a fun watch.
In the film…
“In 1930, sea captain Russel Marsh saw the light, and for 93 years his body was not his own. Inhabited by a Great Old One, he committed unspeakable acts in the name of the Esoteric Order of Dagon. Now free, he is in search of a way to go back in time to reverse the horrors wrought upon the world. But the cult has other plans, and will stop at nothing to destroy him.”

Director Katt Shea has announced the casting of Erik Fellows in the remake of her 1989 vampire classic Dance of the Damned.
Fellows entered the horror genre with Mustang Sally in 2006 and went on to appear in Monster Mountain and Road to Moloch before landing a recurring role in daytime soap Days of Our Lives.

We think he definitely has the right look to enter the crypt of the vampire genre, where brooding hunks are already smouldering with dark sex appeal in Twilight, True Blood, The Vampire Diaries and Being Human.

Katt Shea has cast soap actor Erik Fellows in Dance of the Damned , a remake of the '89 film also directed by Shea. Fellows will be taking on the main vampire role originated by Cyril O'Reilly as the vampire who yearns to learn what it's like to live in the daylight and ends up finding companionship with a suicidal stripper that he has taken hostage. In the original Dance of the Damned , a vampire follows his instincts to a strip joint where he focuses in on one of the performers. He picks her for his meal because she is contemplating suicide, but he wants to share her life before taking it, and during the course of the evening they discuss their differences, their fears, and their lifestyles. As the moment of truth approaches, she becomes less sure that she wants to die....

Director Katt Shea (Poision Ivy, Stripped to Kill 1 & 2, The Rage: Carrie II) is remaking her own 1989 vampire movie Dance of the Damned. I've never seen the original, but based on the trailer (watch below), it looks like a great Skinemax flick starring Cyril O'Reilly sporting the ultimate vampire mullet. It also stars Starr Andreeff (Syngenor) and Maria Ford (The Haunting of Morella, Slumber Party Massacre III). In the original O'Reilly plays a vampire who seduces a stripper who is contemplating suicide. The VHS is going for $16 on Amazon, or you can watch it on YouTube for free.

There’s a theory that you can tell more about a society from its “low-brow” pop culture than you can from its high art. If that’s true, there’s not too much that’s more low-brow than the teen sex comedy, movies which are usually celebrations of male promiscuity and debauchery – often with a vague or bittersweet moral tacked on at the end.
What are teen sex comedies saying about gay people?
Surprisingly, the news lately is pretty good. A trio of recent teen sex comedies, Easy A, She’s Out of My League, and I Love You, Beth Cooper, have either included sympathetic gay teen characters, or joked about gay themes in surprisingly progressive or inclusive ways.
Of course, gay folks have always existed in teen sex comedies in some form or another. It’s just that they’ve usually appeared either as brief sight gags to be ridiculed or,...
