Hello, everyone! August 23rd is a quiet day for horror and sci-fi home media releases, but that doesn’t mean that this week’s offerings aren’t pretty darn great all the same. Scream Factory has put together a killer Collector’s Edition 4K release for Neil Marshall’s Dog Soldiers and Kino Lorber has put together reissues of their Blu-ray box sets for seasons one and two of The Outer Limits, which genre fans will definitely want to pick up.
Cheers!

The third and final installment in the "Atlas Shrugged" trilogy has been given the green light by producers John Aglialoro and Harmon Kaslow. A Summer 2014 release is being targeted.
The first two films in this series have earned a total $8 million at the domestic box office from a combined budget of $30 million. The third film is expected to be made and marketed for less than $10 million.
Reviews for both films have been utterly scathing, though both films have earned modest success in the home video market.
The third film will only score a theatrical release in the 150 markets where the first two installments did best.
Duncan Scott and Brian O'Toole will pen the script for this third chapter. No director or major cast member is yet attached.
The story is expected to close out the narrative from the books, how much of John Galt's famed monologue (which totalled 70 pages...

They say that the definition of madness is doing something over and over again and expecting a different result, but sometimes movies are made for a simple reason: because you can. It certainly doesn't hurt when funding comes from multi-millionaire John Aglialoro, who has the rights to Ayn Rand's famed "Atlas Shrugged," and seemingly has no problem continuing to lose money on the feature film trilogy. There's probably an an objectivist lesson in all of this, but we'll let Aglialoro figure it out himself. At any rate, the third installment in the series no one cares about is coming. It's been officially announced that "Atlas Shrugged Part 3" will be written by Duncan Scott (who helmed part two, and edited and produced Rand's film "We The Living") and Brian O'Toole, and open in 150 markets in summer 2014. Thus far, parts one and two cost between $10-20 million to make each, but...

The people behind the "Atlas Shrugged" series of films have things they want to tell you, and just to make sure that you know what they are, the movies tell you, and tell you, and then tell you again. Whether or not you're amenable to author Ayn Rand's Objectivist philosophy, the declarations run pretty thick in "Part II." Still, despite the fact that screenwriters Duke Sandefur, Brian Patrick O'Toole and Duncan Scott make nearly every scene either a monologue in which a character defines his or her view of the world...

Taylor Schilling as Dagny Taggart, Atlas Shrugged: Part I The marketplace not only shrugged at, but downright turned its back on Atlas Shrugged: Part I, the widely derided film adaptation of Ayn Rand's 1957 novel about the individual's struggle against collectivism and government forces. Directed by Paul Johansson from a screenplay by John Aglialoro and Brian Patrick O'Toole, and starring Taylor Schilling as Rand's heroine Dagny Taggart, Atlas Shrugged was supposed to have been — as the title indicates — part one of what would ultimately become a film trilogy like, huh, Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings or Krzysztof Kieslowski's Three Colors. According to reports published in the last couple of days, that was no longer going to happen. Atlas Shrugged co-producer and co-screenwriter John Aglialoro blamed the liberal media and film critics for their willful, politically motivated box-office destruction of his opus. That, however, would be an...

Rising Edm trio tell MTV News upcoming shows will be a 'visual escape,' as their single 'Get Static' hits Beatport.

Savoy have quickly become a buzz-worthy act on the Edm scene, and you can expect to hear a lot more from them in the months to come. On Thursday, their single "Get Static," a big synth-infused monster, is slated to hit Beatport.
The dance-music trio — Ben Eberdt, Mike Kelly and Gray Smith — began making waves in 2009 with their hit "Automatic," and their electro-rave-inspired swagger has since earned them a loyal (and growing) fanbase. MTV News recently met up with Savoy who told us how they met and teased their tour plans (expect lasers!).

"Atlas Shrugged" has been previewed in a trailer. It follows Dagny Taggart who runs Taggart Transcontinental, the largest remaining railroad company in America, with intelligence, courage and integrity, despite the systematic disappearance of her best and most competent workers.
She is drawn to industrialist Henry Rearden, one of the few men whose genius and commitment to his own ideas match her own. Rearden's super-strength metal alloy, Rearden Metal, holds the promise that innovation can overcome the slide into anarchy.
Using the untested Rearden Metal, they rebuild the critical Taggart rail line in Colorado and pave the way for oil titan Ellis Wyatt to feed the flame of a new American Renaissance. Hope rises again, when Dagny and Rearden discover the design of a revolutionary motor based on static electricity - in an abandoned engine factory.
Based on Ayn Rand novel of the same title, "Atlas Shrugged" was once aimed to be Angelina Jolie-starring vehicle.

Two weeks ago we reported that the big screen version of Ayn Rand's "Atlas Shrugged" will finally begin filming this month in Los Angeles. At the time, no stars were attached to the project. Now comes word that cameras have indeed began rolling. The shoot is planned for five weeks with Paul Johansson directing from a script by Brian Patrick O'Toole. Both of their resumes are very light. The movie will be the first of two parts. "Atlas Shrugged," published in 1957, takes place in a dystopian version of the Us in which society has collapsed as the government gains increasing control over industry. The decline occurs while the most productive citizens, led by John Galt, begin vanishing. At one point, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were rumored to star, but that has now changed. Johansson ("One Tree Hill") portrays Galt. The lead role of railroad executive Dagny Taggart has...

Paul Johansson ("One Tree Hill"), Taylor Schilling ("Mercy") and Grant Bowler ("True Blood") have been cast as John Galt, Dagny Taggart and Hank Reardon respectively in the independently-produced film adaptation of Ayn Rand's "Atlas Shrugged" reports Variety.
Producer John Aglialoro had to get production going on this film adaptation of one of literature's most famous works by this past Saturday or lose the feature rights. Well he met the date, with the $5 million-budget "Atlas Shrugged Part One" kicking off its five week shoot over the weekend with Paul Johansson directing from Brian Patrick O'Toole's script.
The project has dwelt in development hell for decades until this year when Aglialoro quickly decided to make the film on his own without any studio backing. As a result, the cast is essentially made up of mostly unknowns including those three above.

Although she appeared in mainstream stuff like Alias and The Young And The Restless, Washington-born actress Michele Morrow is clearly meant to be a Scream Queen!
With her good natured girl-next-door vibe, you find yourself rooting for her in the just-released Basement Jack (Written by Fango contributor Brian Patrick O'Toole) and hoping she doesn't become the maniac's last victim.
Michele Morrow has also been seen tangling with vampires in Bled and screaming, running and fighting in other horror films like Slaughterhouse Of The Rising Sun, Purgatory House and the upcoming Ashley's Ashes.
One can't help but notice while at Fangoria's Trinity Of Terrors in Las Vegas, the actress attracts appreciative stares from passerby. This may be because with her big blue eyes, elfin nose and long blonde hair, she looks like a Disney Cartoon princess come to life, but it's probably because she's dressed as a cat--in leopard print, with big cat ears and tail!

Basement Jack is a film from Brink DVD that was made for between one to two million dollars. A film that will see video store shelves this Tuesday, November 17th Basement Jack does not step very far away from the slasher films of the 70s and 80s. Jack stays mostly in the confines of a slasher formula, while offering some intrigue in the characer only known as the Manager.
Simply plotted Basement Jack undergoes some unusually harsh punishment for unknown wrongdoings from his mother (Lynn Lowry). Jack (Eric Peter-Kaiser) experiences torture from an early age and develops a taste for blood in later adolescence. Happy to share his experiences of torment with others Jack slashes, impales, and dismembers those unlucky enough to cross his path. Cue in a small love story, some aggravating cops, a police massacre a la Terminator and we have one recipe for blood, disaster, and gore!

Evilution is a Black Gate Entertainment production that releases on DVD November 17th of this year, but is Evilution worth your time? In a one-word answer, yes. Evilution adds dark atmosphere, gruesome make-up and enough quality actors to make the film appear like a well crafted piece of gothic artwork.
The plot of Evilution centers on an alien lifeform that is able to resurrect the dead, including soldiers from the Iraqi battlefield. But things take a dark turn when the alien becomes sentient and fights the military personnel for freedom. A lone survivor, Darren Hall (Eric Peter-Kaiser), escapes the military research station with the alien parasite and takes up residence in southern Los Angeles. It is here, at the Necropolitan apartments, where the alien takes hold of the residents and turns them into resurrected corpses (zombies).
One of several aspects Evilution gets right is the cinematography.

Another Brink production will release on DVD November 17th known as Basement Jack. A film that blends the slasher films of the 80s with a psychopathic twist Basement Jack is a horrifying film in more ways than one. So, if very bloody is how you like your horror then pre-order yourself a copy. For now, take a look at the full, official synopsis for the film below.

After several requests to review writer Brian O'Toole's horror thriller Basement Jack the mail slot is empty and a DVD release is coming up very soon; so why would a writer or a studio not want a review of their film? Sometimes a studio like Island Gateway Films will not make a movie open to the reviewing public if they have a bad film on their hands. So, without seeing the film how would I know if the film is of poor quality? Another clue to the value of Basement Jack is that the DVD premiere is in Germany with a straight to DVD format also signalling that this film has at the very least low production values (low budget). While many films with low production values are still able to come across as entertaining, i.e. How to be a Serial Killer generally a film with a low...
