A new episode of our The Black Sheep video series has just been released, and with this one we’re looking back at director Darren Lynn Bousman‘s 2008 rock opera horror film Repo! The Genetic Opera (watch it Here). To find out what we had to say about this horror musical, check out the video embedded above.
Based on the stage show (originally known as The Necromerchant’s Debt) by Terrance Zdunich and Darren Smith, Repo! The Genetic Opera was scripted by Zdunich and Bousman. The film has the following synopsis: In the mid-21st century, an epidemic of organ failures leads to the rise of GeneCo., a company providing transplants at a great price. Those who miss their payments become targets of GeneCo. mercenaries, who repossess the organs. In a world of drug addiction and legalized murder, a sheltered youth seeks a cure for her rare disease as well...

The premise of Scream Park - a horror movie originally funded through Kickstarter – is that the Fright Land amusement park is on the verge of closing down for good. In a desperate move to pull in customers the owner Hyde (Doug Bradley) hires two maniacs to enter the park and murder the employees who have gathered to party.
Ok, let’s get this straight, I found that Scream Park somewhat of a mixed bag. With some questionable acting and a fairly basic story there are points that it did struggle and I found myself having to consider the fact that it was made on a small budget. Though Scream Park does have moments that redeem its weaker elements.

This hit the trades yesterday but is still worth mentioning. Bauhaus front man Peter Murphy will star in and co-produce Chris Alexander's fourth film, Blackglovekiller. Also joining the cast, and front man of another legendary rock band, is Nivek Ogre from Skinny Puppy, who also starred in Alexander's Queen of Blood. "I'm honored to have been given the tools to bring Blackglovekiller to life," says Alexander. "It really aims to be a horror film like no other horror film, one that nods to its influence but is still distinctly the product of my own imagination. And to have Peter, one of my favorite performers of all time on board is a gift."An erotic, violent fever dream driven by mood, music and atmosphere, Blackglovekiller follows the bloody...

From a horde of zombie mall walkers to a young Jason Voorhees to the vengeful camp caretaker Cropsy and beyond, makeup effects master Tom Savini has for decades crafted iconic horror movie characters. The wizard of practical gore is also known for his work in front of the camera as biker Blades from 1978’s Dawn of the Dead and the whip-cracking Sex Machine in 1996’s From Dusk Till Dawn, but hardcore horror hounds also know the versatile artist from his time spent in the director’s chair on 1990’s Night of the Living Dead.
Ahead of his appearance at the Horror-Rama convention in Toronto, we caught up with Savini to reflect on his reimagining of George A. Romero’s classic zombie film:
George A. Romero wrote the script for 1990’s Night of the Living Dead, but I understand he gave you free reign to make changes as you saw fit.

Frightmare! The premier horror convention in the Southwest has come again, and it was a riot. Well, not literally. Thankfully, massive improvements were made this year with line management of the more popular guests and parking so even when things were hot and heavy on Saturday, we never reached the critical mass found last year.
The movie and television guests were a literal who's who of icons throughout the years. The three guests of honor, Linda Blair, George A Romero, and Tobin Bell, were all busy with fans at their tables all weekend. I heard that Bell went till 1am signing on Saturday to make sure everyone was taken card of.
Having tables set up near empty walls for attendees to line up against and usage of tickets when lines got too long were big improvements. With the three guests of honor and other fan favorites such as Scott Wilson...

Amusement parks certainly have the potential to be creepy. We saw that in Funhouse and plenty of films since. Now a film that actually started as a Kickstarter campaign and succeeded in raising the funds brings a new angle to the amusement park horror idea. Take a look at Scream Park.
Starring legendary genre actor Doug Bradley (of Hellraiser fame) and the always horrifically active Nivek Ogre (of Skinny Puppy), Scream Park is currently in production. The film stars Bradley, Ogre, Wendy Wygant and Steve Rudzinski. Cary Hill will be directing and producing the film.
